To save time with the batteries you forgot early in the episode I recommend getting hacking computer, if you put it on your main grid and anything you attach will get hacked over to you over time. No risk of losing components
The AI Defensive block doesn't need targeting from you, it's designed to target enemies on it's own, that's how it boosts the range of your turrets, it locks on to enemies automatically giving them something to shoot at. This also allows you to set up event controllers to trigger when enemies come too close to your base, or your ship. For example you can have it trigger an alarm when an enemy is detected, or automatically launch defensive drones or missiles to attack intruders.
Happy to see fresh videos about Space Engineers Ship’s evolution. I started a couple weeks ago basing on this channel tutorials. i’m going stream on twitch how to easy start with all of my previous experiences including info from videos that i’ve not seen yet. Thanks for the nice content 👍
When I wanna use a Build'n'repair to help in salvage, I build one on the enemy grid, connected to one of their batteries that i paint the ignore color and set the Build'n'repair to walk mode, grind only and paint the target salvage the grind color. Again, just keep one battery to the end. Build a conector to the build and repair to serve as cargo and a way to get the components from it, when its done.
Below the pick/set color for grinding you can choose a specific color, using the sliders, better for salvaging as it will only grind the blocks you paint in that color
There is a mod that would help in the style of your ion ships! The mod is ‘Xeno-Tech Dragon-Wing Modular Thrusters’ it adds some ion thrusters that vary in shape and length! Give it a look, you might like it, I do!

Perhaps you'll like
- Advanced welding, allowing grinding to disconnect and weld-pads.
- Grabby hands goes along well with that.
I remember seeing welding pads. Def gonna try that

Yeah, found out it worked that way afterwards. Good tips
