I made a very minimal large grid ship with basically just merge block for that purpose, called it the parasite. Be careful with contracts too, you lose reputation with the factions that are not friend with that particular faction. Reputation propagation is a mess, i think Keen should redesign it, as i don't think it's fair to be penalized for being a trader.
