First of all lemme say that I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this. It's always a pleasure to see new people being introduced to KOAN Sound but your reactions and remarks were really endearing to watch. Earned a new sub. Also pardon the long rant that's about to follow lol.
The journey that KOAN Sound has been on throughout their career is something to behold. Started off as a newbie dubstep duo that popped up in the early 2000s, they went on to make some notable ripples in the scene before slowly leaning into a more glitch hop - esque style, and later on became one of the pioneers of modern glitch hop altogether. A lot of their old music has aged really well and still holds up to this day (tracks like Funk blaster, Meanwhile in the future, Sentient are all instant classics. You should check out some of their old stuff. It's really interesting the way their style changed over time. My favorite project from them is an EP called "Intervals Above", released in 2019 and imo the best representation of what KOAN Sound is truly about. Honestly if you're upto checking out slightly old stuff then please check out Intervals Above EP.
They have also been an inspiration for a lot of amazing producers like Alydian, Stasys, Vorso, False Noise, Echo Map, Hudson Lee, Frequent and so on. All of them have established their own style and flavor with their music so it'd be nice to see you check out any of these artists in the future.
Love the way this album tells a story. I always picture some mass effect thing going on
I mean it literally does, they wrote an actual story for it

im a big fan of koan sound as well
Some of the sounds on voices of dissent is phenomenal. Even more so now I know they were made with just a cello

So nice to see people that have some knowledge about music appreciating this album, anchorite still has one of the most insane atmosphere i ve ever heard in any soundtrack ever. Will definitely tune into some of your streams in the future
Love to see more people discovering KOAN Sound. Their debut album Polychrome is still one of my all time favs (Viridian dream from the album is single handedly one of the best electronic tracks ever made imo), and Led By Ancient Light also became special to me quickly. Also important to note that this style of KOAN Sound isn't the only style they have. They used to make dubstep n stuff back in the days and they also are one of the pioneers of modern glitch hop. Hope you check out some other artists on the same lane as them. Stasys, a really unique producer paving his own way in the scene, very conveniently released a new LP this week. It'd be amazing if you check em out.
Idk how I forgot to mention but KOAN Sound themselves released a new EP this week too.
This album is pretty sick but you said it best when you said “the music theory majors did crack again” 😂😂😂
ps you should check out “Cascade” by Chet Atkins sometime. It’s a completely different vibe from this but cool nonetheless.
