If Apple announced an event for iPads, it means expect serious price hikes. They want to convince us that whatever price they will ask isn't actually a lot.
I currently have the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 with 1 Terabyte storage, 6GB RAM and 2nd generation Apple Pencil. It sits permanently on my grand piano music rack and is dedicated for use with the Henle Library music score app and the forScore music score app. I'm very much looking forward to updating to the new 13" OLED display. I'll keep the same 1 Terabyte of storage. Anyone else using an iPad Pro for reading their piano music scores?
I’m waiting for the new Mini - currently using a 5th Gen. I’ve seen a video on another creator’s channel suggesting that we just go for the 6th Gen, but I think I’ll wait and see what the 7th has to offer. After saying that, I did go as far as finding out what trade-in value my 5th Gen currently has. Thanks for the content!
My M1 iPad Air is still blazing fast. Can’t imagine a reason to upgrade from it since it has 8GB RAM, never slows down, never gets hot, and runs everything thrown at it. M3 may get better battery life, though, being 3nm. But for pure power, the M1 is still probably more power than IOS can take advantage of.
I’m only getting the M3 iPad Air for two reasons: 1. my previous iPad was the 10.5” iPad Pro and it’s been getting slow and runs hot with the latest iPadOS update and I am due for an upgrade; also battery life has shortened dramatically since 5+ years of use 2. the landscape front camera; I was actually planning to get the M1 Air since Mark Gurman changed the dates from March to April then to May
@@LuisAngelSantos Can’t find any fault in your argument and that vertical camera in the M1 Air is aggravating on FaceTime or when trying on glasses virtually online. Not a natural angle at all. I’m sure the M3 will be great, but hard to imagine it any faster than the M1 MBA since they’re both overpowered for the form factor.
Minis typically fall into a category of small iPad Air, so if the Air gets updated, you can probably expect the mini to get updated in the fall (usually skipping one or two generations)
Hardly ever remove my iPad Pro from the Magic Keyboard. Would suit me to have an iPad laptop, the 12.9 display fixed to a keyboard so with touchscreen and less weight.
@@NateSail82 Oh wow I didn't know the MacBook supported detaching the keyboard, and the Apple Pencil! Why haven't we already thought of this. Sounds like the perfect tablet.
There is nothing they can add to that device, in it's current form, that will make me cough up $2k for a new one that does the same old things. Give me MacOS on the iPad pro already! What's the point of the M chips in these devices without it.
They can put all the hardware improvements they want, that have never been the problem. What iPad Pro needs is good software that makes it useful for other things beyond watching videos and drawing. Give it a lite version of macOS
I bought a 3rd gen iPad 11 when the 4th gen came out because they failed to upgrade the display. Hoping both sizes will get the new display then maybe I’ll upgrade.
LG replaced my OLED tv with Burn In. My second tv I adjusted brightness way down and enabled every feature recommended to reduce burn in risk, changed viewing habits now new tv is showing some signs of burn in. I don’t get how manufacturers keep trying to brighten OLED displays when it dramatically increases burn in. When I need to replace my second OLED tv I will NEVER buy anything OLED again. In a year or two let’s see how many burn in videos there are with iPad Pro and how long before apple ditches this technology
MagSafe charging would be great… when on the go it’d be great to *just* carry a MagSafe power bank that’d do iPad *and* iPhone. I realise it would take a reshuffle of a lot of other internal stuff but… why not charge the pencil on the short edge?
I really REALLY hope the rumours for the ipad pros being thinner is false! M3 chips run hotter in general, so this is counter-intuitive just for heat dispersed alone. Then there is the question regarding its strength with bending ect
Apple should: 1._ Buy "Boston Dynamics", 2._invest in Quantum Computers tech. 3._ Invest a few Billion or partner (perhaps with the Gov), to develop a microchips fab in the US
Wife and I both use Magic Keyboards. I have a 12.9, don't see a compelling reason to upgrade. I wish iPad OS would incorporate keyboard shortcuts, like MacOS...
if the new apple pencil had 2 magnetic charging docks at the tip and end that would allow for a landscape camera to fit between (on the ipad). additionally its also possible these 2 magnetic charging pads are haptic buttons.
I know that oled is better then mini led but honestly I think mini led is too good already the jump is not going to be enormous. I’ve been using iPad Pro 12.9 m1 since its release and the display is beautiful the black level are not perfect sure but 90% of the time are indeed good, often as good as oled so that I don’t notice a difference between them two. So not really expecting about this one.
I bought a stand from Amazon that the iPad clicks into so I can sit in my chair and still use the iPad. I use dictation all the time and do not have a keyboard on this, as my hands are tiny and everything is big enough to use the pop up keyboard.. 74 years old. The only thing I always watched for is something that will help my eyes be better so I’ll probably be looking for the faster, refresh rate and clearer pictures.
So am I! I have owned an iPad since they were released; my iPad Pro 2020 is wonderful, but it beginning to show age. I’ve been waiting, not so patiently, for the OLED iPad to be released.
Please stop for a moment and think about how you will use your new iPad Pro. Yes, the one you are thinking about buying. The one Apple will announce on May 7th. If you are just watching RUclips, streaming movies, and browsing, and chances are, YOU WILL, then you can save yourself a couple hundred bucks and get the non-Pro version. You know I am right.
Can we please stop referring to the “larger iPad” as if those of us who didn’t just want a less-able-keyboardless-MacBook somehow don’t want a horizontal camera etc? I have 11” iPad Pro (w/ Pencil & Magic Keyboard) and I’m concerned about how we seem to be being separated as a different type of user. Then again, Apple seem to listen to feedback less and less, so I guess its unlikely that they’re listening anyway 🙃
I’ve never understood people who would buy an iPad only to have it spend most of its time docked to a keyboard. Why not just get a laptop? Tablets are for holding
Personally with the chips I think it would make more sense to put M3 Pro in the Pro and for the Air skip M2 & put the regular M3 in them, but still sounds really promising either way
Great top level summary of what's coming. Everything sounds like a reasonable step up except for the glass back and mag charging (mag charging is suboptimal). I'm honestly so done with waiting and just ready to pick up whatever's on the refresh this May.
Phones are getting so big now it’s not really relevant so probably forgotten. If IPhone mini was still a thing it might make sense, I had a mini once returned in 3 days it’s a big phone that can’t phone and isn’t really much more convenient than the 11” which is book size.
Smaller bezels might be an issue when holding the 12.9 inch iPad Pro model. Not a great fan of the keyboard price wise ….could buy a MacBook for similar combined price .Gaz
I hate the Magic Keyboard on my M1 12.9" iPad Pro. Small trackpad, and weight made me go on a third party replacement. None of them, like the Magic Keyboard even approach a MacBook Air's utility regarding the ergonomics.
Love that Apple moves technology forward. This normal who uses my Apple 2017 12-inch iPad Pro for content consumption more than likely will not be purchasing a new iPad any time soon.

OLED will just create static inage retentions on iPads
Give us a 15" pro model. I also would love a keyboard I can use in landscape and in portrait mode.

No new mini?
This is just a guess/rumor. Who know Apple will launch a new one as a surprise.
Most probably in October alongside the basic iPad

5:50 Solution: don’t buy it in white. My black one is flawless after 2+ years.
they could make pencil shorter so it stick to a short side of the iPad - and camera can move to thee long side
What is the purpose of a trackpad with a touchscreen device? Seems like the trackpad would be obsolete. Not criticizing-genuinely curious.
