This is, without a single doubt, the most beautiful version of this song that I've ever heard!! Inspired idea to reinterpret this for guitar, too! Your voice and interpretation are both incredible, Phil!
This is, without a single doubt, NOT the most beautiful version, it is not bad indeed, but there are better performances out there e. g. Gerald Moore combined with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
That was so beautiful. The accompaniment worked perfectly on guitar. Of course the reason this worked so well is because of the genius of the two artists.
The Maiden: Pass me by! Oh, pass me by! Go, fierce man of bones! I am still young! Go, rather, And do not touch me. And do not touch me. Death: Give me your hand, you beautiful and tender form! I am a friend, and come not to punish. Be of good cheer! I am not fierce, Softly shall you sleep in my arms!
Thank you for the translation. The words and song give me chills. There is an emotion, which I don't know the name of, about facing death, about the certainty of death.
La jeune fille Va-t'en ! Ah ! va-t'en ! Disparais, odieux squelette !
THE MAIDEN Pass by, ah, pass by! Away, cruel Death! I am still young; leave me, dear one and do not touch me. DEATH Give me your hand, you lovely, tender creature. I am your friend, and come not to chastise. Be of good courage. I am not cruel; you shall sleep softly in my arms. Translations by Richard Wigmore first published by Gollancz and reprinted in the Hyperion Schubert Song Edition
Since he raised the key I was assuming he'd be able to do the written octave drop at the end. That is the only thing about this version that makes me like it less. The guitar is a really cool instrument for it and sly has a great voice as always, just wish the octave drop was there considering the key was raised, though that may have been more Adam than Philippe
I agree with you on this, this video was filmed 10 years ago and I’ve come a long way as an arranger since then… you can really feel the missing presence of those low notes! Nice catch and thanks for your comment
@@AdamCicchillitti eh I only caught it because I've been working on it recently. And I was more commenting about Sly, I know he's a "Bass/Baritone" and an E is probably just a bit low for him but I figured since the key was raised he'd be able to get there. Still an amazing recording though and incredible playing on your part
¡Vete espantajo asqueroso! Aún soy joven, ¡Vete ! ¡Y no me toques! ¡No me toques!” -La Muerte: “Dame la mano, tierna y hermosa criatura. ¡Soy tu amiga, no temas! ¡Déjame hacer! No tengas miedo. ¡Dormirás tranquila en mis brazos!”

Adam Cicchillitti. Greetings from Australia and a warm thank you for the glorious music. Kindly pass my kind regards to Mr Sly, as well,
@@0ichigan06 , I love Dieskau, but Marian Anderson's version is like superhuman!
Both were incredible singers. Just a matter of taste. 😊
@@AdamCicchillitti, loved your guitar! 💕
Wunderschönes Lied und grandiose Interpretation! Danke!
Damn. That is so beautiful. The contrast of light and darkness in his voice is magnificent. #epic #baritone # guitar

Absolument superbe! MERCI!
Merci pour votre écoute! Joyeux Noel et bonne année.
This is the best version of the lied after and only after Marian Anderson's!
Mihaly Szekely is also fantastic.

Was it challenging performing on the dolly?! I liked the effect. Beautiful music, love the guitar accompaniment.
Absolutely, it was uncomfortable. We were really happy with the result of the video being in motion though. Thanks for listening!
Hello Adam where can I find or bought the Wohin guitar score thx for answer...
Hi Philippe, message me at adam.cicchillitti@gmail.com
Super cool! Where do you get this sheet music?
Just google Schubert's lieds.
