Exactly I put this on to counter that “common knowledge” It is a supposition based on BJJ no gi grappling, because as a system can’t judo throw as they don’t give time to study standup, and have low level capabilities at throws as they prefer tackles and wrestling.
for every attack there are defences. Judoka actually study the defences at about blue/brown belt. I note with dismay that BJJ have gone the other way to wrestling that dont have the situational self defence aspect throws encompassing their study. They are very vulnerable to these attacks as they just dont know about them. Their choices lol.
@@mugnuzYes it definitely is. Understand law enforcement and military train in Judo rigorously. And there are tons of video evidence of Judo working in these situations.

Unless you have trained against that. Actually judo is the best! Mainly because of the superiority of throws over standing on one leg to kick! If you can’t get a knockout blow on being stormed, in closing the distance you better watch out
@@JudoLife still judo is so situational. It just works in fringe cases. I trained judo for 9 years. And id became just like 3-5% in my arsenal. I never really used it except the weight shifting
@@mugnuzsituational? That's crazy! Most people have zero grappling experience, if you know Judo (or any grapoling martial art for that matter) you can force them into your game and defeat most people in the whole planet lol. Judo is not situational at all, you can use Judo everytime you get close to your opponent. And rememver that famous Wrestling moves like the Double Leg takedown are also part of Judo (for example, the double leg takedown is called Morote Gari in Judo).
@@jestfullgremblim8002 sure you try double leg takedown. No risk at all. No knee to the face or ending up laying on the ground getting kicked. Sure any martial art is winning against an untrained person. Thats why i said situational. Just cause 9/10 martial arts are more efficient than judo
@@mugnuz i seriously don't belive what you're saying. I know that martial art matches are not the same as real fights, but they are very similar! Have you watched MMA? Grappling rules in there, whoever knows more grappling is usually who wins! A very similar thing happens in Muay Thai. Why do you think that Muay Thai fighters either kick a lot or clinch a lot? Because it's too damn hard to not get clinched when you get close to punch, even if you are the best of the best! So their way of striking without getting grappled is kicking from a distance (their kicks can still be caught tho. But feinting exists) Do you believe me now? I gave you actual facts amd logic. Grappling rocks! Judo is grappling! Even if your opponent is good at striking, if you can get close enough and are better at grappling than them, you should be able to make quick work of them. I seriously do not understand how someone could believe that Judo (or grappling for that matter) does not work in this age and time. Lol you obviously never fought a judo guy. Punching a KO punch is harder than you think. It is much easier to KO with a judo throw than head punch. I usually duck my head and fend punches, so the opponent punches my forehead, and damages their fist, or misses, of course! Just because we can throw doesn’t mean we cannot hit back but judo is very effective and unless you train in it your going down and you will be knocked out!

It is a little bit similar. Japanese JJ Is weapon oriented. Very wrist lock aware, and vital point striking. This is lower level self defence
