Monster Wahoo pulls gun in half while spearfishing!! + Jobfish and Highfin Amberjack action

- Crazy day out Spearfishing some deeper reefs out wide. Wahoo mishap of the century but we still managed to catch some cool fish including green jobfish, highfin amberjack, king fish and purple cod.
Great footage and a good voice over.

What a great lesson you guys just learned for me in the first 2 seconds watching, so I haven't seen the whole thing yet... I'll be making changes to how I dive and build pipe guns now. If you have a reel on the barrel, hold the barrel if you don't have a full post bolt through the handle and barrel... But hopefully my ermes avatar trigger guard reel mount would hold up in that situation... one way to find out and I'm sure Mario would make changes to the Avatar handle if that happened anyways.
Wasn't any fault of the gun. Just the reel failed so he took it off. He didn't replace the bolt/screw that holds the reel to the gun. Apparently it also holds the handle to the barrel. A bit of a blunder😅🤣
@@DownDeep Yeah, I understand it wasn't the Gun, but if you're using small screws to secure your barrel to your handle, and use it like your partner did, you can still easily pull them apart. It is strange that the reel screws are all that attach the barrel and handle since typically there is a pin or 2 screws horizontally across the barrel through the handle.
@@8InchShaka ahh I see what you mean. The reel seems to be completely separate to the handle and barrel fixing.
I didn't think those screws into the barrel and handle could fail like that
I'll talk to my mate about it again. Get to the bottom of what actually happened.
@Down Deep Adventures I could see how small screws could fail which is why I'm glad you posted this video since I have some small screws in one of my guns, granted I'm not daisy chaining my actual gun with the the shooting line and float, but I imagine they could fail if you consider something big pulling a 3atm float down under water, thats a tremendous amount of force...
I'd be curious to hear what you learn though cause I've never seen a gun where the reel screws actually act as the anchor for handle and barrel. I always see something horizontally and the only exception is my Omer/Sporasub ONE gun that handle and muzzle are aluminum cast with the barrel so they can't be removed at all. Your mate needs that gun. Lol.

your mate is needs a talkin to, not only did he shoot when you were in front of him and stole your potential stone shot. He replaced it was a terrible body shot. What a selfish and dangerous diver.
Mistakes were made and learnt from. He didn't see me approaching the fish also. Rookie error but it's all good. As long as the mistakes are learnt from and no one was hurt.
I'm still crying tho, I had a great chance of stoning that fish. I was shooting really well this day
