    We said many of those things and I think they were true and real. But there was so much underlying shame and insecurity, he couldn’t tolerate real love and a mirror.

    My narcissistic husband called himself a monster. Even played songs with the title 'monster' by skillet.

    You fall in love with an illusion. Because a narcissist is an actor... You never get to know the real person behind the multiple masks they show you. I wouldn´t write that he or she is a monster but a very disturbed human-being (very ill).

    Zen as a philosophy can apply to religious beliefs or nihilism. Words and labels are appropriate, yet still meaningless.
    "Is Ben still Ben without Ben?"
    Maybe go "Fight Club" on it...You/We are made up of the same decaying matter as every thing else.
    Labels are still a weakness. Bad boy, Bad Girl, liar, monster. "A person's behavior was unacceptable."
    Slow, slow Mr. Ben. I am 44 and I use burnt crayons to make art. I also used 3 burnt crayons stuck into an orange wedge and placed on a bridge to trigger a "Vulnerable Narcissist" as he walked by my artistic abomination. Irony being, as proud as I felt to trigger his "what is this, why am I doing this," My nonverbal statement of taking back my power is not world changing. Random garbage in the lives of 2 people on a planet of 8 billion plus. "Meaningful that is almost meaningless. The nature of Zen
