Hi Mr B . I use paraffin have for years yes spray it on & the crap just falls off . Yes give it a rub a brush . & a spray with wD 40 clean up any residue of the paraffin. Then no e of theses fancy lubes just some clean engine oil . & wipe off any excess. ££££ the cheaper way just every 1500. Miles clean be be much quicker each time when your on top of your routine . Yes petrol & diesel work too . Love life & keep the bike on the suney side of life . Rolley :)
Paraffin is great, it's what I use on mine. Get it from stores like B&Q or garden centres as it's used for greenhouse heaters. Don't use sticky chain lubes either, I use oil as it's much easier to clean off. I have a chain oiler on all my bikes, a TUTORO ( Top Up Turn On Ride Off) it's a simple motion activated one, so no vacuum or electrical connection. One fill of the reservoir lasts about 1000 miles. Takes me about 20 minutes to do a full clean of my chain and both sprockets.
@@birchwoodbiker hi thanks for that, I have the 2015 NC750X dct, and I have the centre stand on mine, when I go to turn the wheel when it’s on the stand, it is a bit stiff to start with, but it gets better the more you turn it, but I haven’t noticed any slack like yours? Thanks for the prompt reply. Thanks. Happy new year buddy. 😎🏍👍😁
Dont use baby wipes. They leech very thin plastic threads onto your gear. Nearly invisible if wet. Those fibers wrap around the chain pins and when heated turn to plastic blobs. I use old cotton socks 😂 pretty sure no grit can stand up to a pair of my socks after 3 years of use.
I use odorless mineral spirits for these jobs. I think it's much easier on lungs and brain. A quick final rinse with 95% isopropyl is good and dries quickly.
@@birchwoodbiker Haven't given these a go yet on the chain. I have used them on parts (as well as soaking in odorless mineral spirits or turps in an old jar) possibly worth a try: ruclips.net/video/WHISaDS1wb0/видео.htmlsi=zIXWZsVuT2lqqj2A
Hello Birchy, love it. Seems to be a hot topic, how People care for their chains. Petrol or diesel are fantastic cleaners but the smell of diesel 😣😷😦 Thanks for the mention. What do you think that knocking is?

Hi, did you find out what the play was in your chain? Was it the front sprocket? Cheers. 😎🏍👍😁

@@birchwoodbiker Hi, thanks for that, I appreciate your time, I will certainly keep my eye on that. Cheers. 😎🏍👍😁
good to watch
I find baby wipes work really well 😎 Personally I'd never lube the chain with the egine running, too many people have lost fingers that way 🙈

Thanks for sharing. Livening the channel. How do you get the back wheel to spin freely? What stand do you use?
He has the bike up on the center stand that Honda doesn't include and greedily offers up for you to purchase as an accessory....😠
@@kenbowlus2995 novice biker here. I have a transalp and I don’t have a centre stand. Is there any tips for getting the back wheel up easy?
A trackside rear lift works.
Oooooh I do like a shiny sprocket Eddie.😂 Don't suppose you would know torque settings for front and rear spindle?

I use either kerosene or brake cleaner, much easier than this brush method
