It's hard to believe there are only 21 comments because this is one of THE best chain maintenance vids I've watched. Your attention to detail and care is 1st class and I will absolutely replicate your cleaning practice. Thank you!! 😀
Hi Chops, ive been a biker for years (im in my fifties an ol bugger) but followed this method from your vid of cleaning my chain today, it is sparkling😁👌, thanks so much, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You know what I've totally forgotten when you said it was okay for me to drop my bike round for you to clean it lol. Joking aside I have always lubed my chain when I get back from a ride. The thinking is that the chain is nice and warm so the lube soaks into the joints better.
I love the attention to detail, the baby wipes is one I’m going to try thanks chops 🕺 Thanks for sharing your advice on this! Nothing worse then seeing a beautiful bike with a shocker of a unloved chain 😮🙈
All these years an never used baby wipes the way to go watch a lot of your vids had the new s 1000r bmw after watching the one you did with the hole in the rad thanks great bike
Kerosene is the American name for Paraffin in the UK… same stuff and the best chain cleaner by and safe on o-rings… all chain manufacturers recommended it as the cleaner of choice 👍
I find kerosene and a tooth brush do a great job. I open up the front sprocket cover and coat and scrub with the toothbrush and pull the chain with a cloth to wipe it down. Also allows me to clean front sprocket which was nasty last time I did it.
Great vid 'chops. I use baby wipes for removing bugs and dirt from the bodywork of my blade when I'm out but never thought to use them on the chain. I might try that next time :) I'm another big fan of the Wurth Dry Lube - awesome stuff!
Thanks Chris, yeah I use them for everything from helmet, leathers and the chain :) Would be lost without the Wurth dry lube expensive but worth every penny!
It's a complete myth that WD 40 damages the O rings. There are lots of hardcore Motorcyclists who use WD 40 to clean their chain and they don't have any issues. Motorcyclist Magazine even did an video on RUclips, dispelling that myth....having said that you've done a good job at cleaning that chain..
hi love all your videos doing a good job building the blade just noticed one thing I see you are using a split link on the chain this is a no no on a bike of this power I am hoping it is just temporary till you get a rivit link
Just rewatched this now, do you still use split links on your chain? I have a split link on my sv and people go wild when they find out saying I'm going to lose a leg because of it. I have a did zvm x 525 sitting in a box ready to go on but I have to wait to get someone with a rivet tool to put it on and I'm just looking up how to actually care for it before I go and ruin it.. :D I use wurth chain wax.. don't like it, think I'll go for the wurth dry lube like you have
can anyone direct me to a video or website, that can explain everything I don't need on my motorcycle and what I do need. Bike looks like a track bike, how can I reduce clutter on my bike?
Another informative video. Never thought of using baby wipes before. Can't beat Wurth dry chain lube. Doesn't give you a black rear rim, unlike other lubes. You can use it daily, if the weather's crap, or if you're travelling a decent distance to work etc.

Thanks chops. Just needed a reminder.

The chain is clean to start with. I'd like to see a dirty chain cleaned
Lovely looking bike mate 👌👍

Oh noon! Is that a split link I see
I like your bike😀

one thing just to add, wipe the excess off or it may collect more dirt and grime than you'd want on there, thus destroying your chain faster!
Hi lamb chop what camera are you using in this ?
It's the gopro 3 and a canon 550d rusty :)
Just curious if anyone out there knows the real deal whether WD40 is safe to use on O rings or not. There seems to be so much contention on this topic
TIKI TORCH FUEL IS KEROSENE

Thanks Baccas, I'm a baby wipe convert use them on everything! Leathers, lid, bike lol nothing better for cleaning the shit off things :)
Not buying that chain's done 5,000mls plus.
Puts me to shame big time
I like your bike😀
Thanks Babar
