  • Hi folks,
    This is the intel core i5 2400 vs 2022!
    The once high i5 2400 is getting a bit now so I thought I'd test it against some of today's most popular titles at 1080p!
    Wish me luck!

    For some reason I was living in 2020 last week 🤷🏻‍♂️ The chip is 11 years old not 9 as stated in the video. It was discontinued 9 years ago so hay it may be 9 years old 🙏🏼

      I still have an i5 2400 paired with a GTX 750ti build and it rocks! titles like CSGO, Valorant, GTA 5, and older call of duty games run very good.
      That's my second build tough as my main one is an i5 8400 with a GTX 1060.
      I also suggest you run Windows 7 while using the i5 2400 as you will get less background apps and it will run better, im even running Win 7 on my i5 8400.

      Joys of PC gaming there’s a whole back library of titles you can play, tbh I prefer some of the older stuff over the new games. It goes to show as well you don’t need a £400 cpu and £1000 gpu have fun! Half the new games I’ve brought I’ve not really played 😅

    Great video Andy! Honestly, I'm pretty surprised by the results, genuinely wasn't expecting RDR2 to run that well. Some of those other games though... 😅 It's a shame these Sandy Bridge chips are starting to become less and less viable for the newest games.

    So as it stands, 1st gen i7 to Xeon, 2nd gen i5 2500k to Xeon and 4th gen i5 4430 to Xeon are kind of a floor for kinda modern budget gaming.. and on the i3 side 8100 I guess. Thanks for the vid and God bless. :)
    P.S. That celeron sticker dramatically increases the PCs value for me. Cant have a sleeper gamer PC without one. Vintage elite would have core 2 duo or pentium 4 one I guess xd

    I use 1 for older games, paired with a gt 1030, it's honestly not that bad, i am perfectly happy with the performance this lil chip gives me in older titles, for modern games i use my main rig, but as a side rig, not bad at all! I use it since 2012 xD. Next month it will retire in my home. I mean I still will use my old PC for some stuff cause why not. I recently even replaced the thermal paste on it. Works without any problem with most games I play. Detroit Become Human, Witcher 3 with GTX 970 Gaming 4 GB and 16 GB DDR 3 ram on a really freakin old motherboard ASUS P8H61/USB3 with SATA III SSD drive.
    I used After Effects, Photoshop, Blender on that machine but yeah Blender is getting some hickups so the upgrade is needed.

    hey I andy I have a question as an i5 2400 owner will I be able to screen record with OBS or bandicam recording and running web pages at the same time like a web tutorial video that is what I am planning to do with my PC and btw I am running it with 8GB dual-channel ddr3 1333mhz ram and I am running the operating system and some important software in SSD so that it can be fast I am just not sure all I know is screen recording on PC it requires a CPU or GPU just not sure how much power or usage is enough. Thanks in advance if you respond.

    • @andystech101
      @andystech101  2 года назад

      Hi OBS is cpu dependent and I’ve had mixed results but for what you want to do I would say that’s perfectly fine, I use it all the time for scene capture for non gaming stuff! It would struggle with game capture though as there not much left to play with in games. OBS if free so just download it and give it a test run 🙏🏼

    • @andystech101

      I can’t comment on Bandicam as I’ve not used it but please let me know how it goes I’d love to know 🙏🏼

    • @Beyondry
      @Beyondry 2 года назад

      @@andystech101 hey Andy bandicam runs a lot better and smoother than obs with i5 2400 I tried it it works like a champ but it's not a huge performance improvement worth changing to bandicam over obs but decent enough to recommend it for those who struggle recording on obs, especially dual-core CPUs. when I am recording with OBS with my i5 2400 I have bad performance issues the mouse movements move too fast than being recorded I don't know why even lowering bitrate doesn't help much but on bandicam it's a different story. I hope that will let you know about bandicam and btw bandicam it's not 100% free.
      The difference is Bandicam performs better than obs on low-end PCs like dual-core CPUs overall OBS is better than bandicam only if you have a system with more resources like more CPU cores
      Edit: if you know how to run obs smoothly on i5 2400 without any movement issues please let me know I really prefer using obs over bandicam because of the settings it offers. Thanks in advance looking forward to seeing your watching your new videos

    • @andystech101
      @andystech101  2 года назад

      I just guess the architecture is too old and OBS can’t be bothered to optimise the software for older platforms anymore! When 4core 8threads is entry level these days and 6core+ is the norm I can see why. I’m glad bandicam is useable for you and if you want a cheap upgrade recommendation a E3 1230 can be picked up for £15 or less if your lucky and should fit pretty much any H61+ motherboard! That will be a night and day difference in workloads your after 🙏🏼

    • @Beyondry
      @Beyondry 2 года назад

      @@andystech101 hey andy thanks for the info. The E3 1230 seems excellent but I only benefiting extra 4threads and getting that processor is kinda a hassle the best way to catch these CPUs would be on eBay the price of
      E3 1230 with shipping fees is like 70% the price of i5 12400 and I still need a discrete GPU which will result in spending over $120. so upgrading my system wouldn't make any sense at this point because this motherboard has issues with compatibility it doesn't support any GPU over gtx 600s series months ago I bought gtx 950 it didn't work I even bought gtx 750ti even the i7 3770 doesn't work with this motherboard also later I found out that Cupertino2 motherboard, especially from hp 3400mt the system I have, is only limited to i7 2600 and gt730 or gtx 680 upgrade path I think at this point is best to just save up and just build a new system probably go with i5 11400 or 12400 if lucky but I will see I future i can add RTX 3060 since prices are going down but for now I will just stick obs and bandicam with this system
