Maria mode is brutally difficult. Moreso than Richter mode, and way more than Alucard mode (even in a Red Rust only run. I'm dead serious.). Its a good thing then that her subweapons have good utility, but I still struggle to beat this mode. Likely because I never save as Alucard until the end of a play session, I treat Maria and Richter the same, only to find that they don't have the on demand potions, faeries, and magic spells to keep themselves from getting slaughtered.
I managed to beat almost every boss before i discovered that the Turtle Subweapon can heal you, and as i discovered it, my immediate thought was "I COULD HAVE HEALED MYSELF THIS WHOLE TIME INSTEAD OF CAREFULLY AND CHEAPLY KILLING ENEMIES FROM OUTSIDE THEIR AWARENESS ZONE!". With Richter the trick i used to survive is abusing the Item Crush skills to make myself immune to all damage while dealing tons of damage at the same time, usually using the throwing knife.
Unlike the Saturn version, where Maria was damned near unstoppable, Konami balanced her out here in this version. In Rondo she took a ton of damage from hits, more so than Richter, so it would make sense that she isn't the strongest in this game either, even when a little older. But in the Saturn version, she can mow anything down without so much as breaking a sweat.
@Uneke on mobile version of SOTN Richter is eazy. I have button to use his whip dash... And for Alucard i have button to use ALL magic i learned, without doing umput. I abuse it to het invisibility points and get throw spikes without spike breaker.

i never got to play the Saturn version but i really wanted to. however while she is badass in Saturn version, she is obsurdly overpowered. not quite Aulcard Shield + Shield Rod spell overpowered, but just OP enough that it's way too easy to beat the game as her cause one of her spells grants you temporary invincibility at the cost of a large ammount of MP which regenerates overtime. despite how much i seemed to have fun raping bosses with the Alucard Shield, it honestly is boring the 2nd time you do it. if i do get a chance to play the Saturn version, i will probably end up ingnoring her invincibility spell's existence.

not sure what you mean by that, mainly cause there is no cheat code to unlock her. the Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles version of Symphony of the Night and the Castlevania Requiem collection version of Symphony of the Night have this version of Maria as a playable character. the only other version that has her is the Japan exclusive SEGA Saturn version 悪魔城ドラキユラX月下の夜想曲 (Akumajou Dracula X Gekka no Nocturne) and that version of her is way different than the one in the video. of course this is excluding any ROM Hacks anyone mad that adds her, but that's an unrelated topic.
I hated this Maria. She sucked so much. In fact, she sucked at fighting so much that the basic low level enemies (zombies, bats, medusa heads, etc) were able to kill you in several hits. And her magic? So bad, because they're no longer magic -- they're items. And they mostly suck (only the dragon is good). And the item crash uses half of her supply, meaning there's almost no point in using them against the basic enemies, which will be responsible for most of your deaths. And the worst of all, her basic attacks (owl) and special moves (such as rolling attack) suck. I'm okay with Konami replacing the magic system for crappier items, but Maria should have at least have regenerating Heart. Even then, she would suck, but she would be manageable. This is an action game, but if 90% of her playthrough is about avoiding enemies (because they'll kill you), then there are clearly flaws in the character design.

@@GamerXDaringDoX I'm aware that Turtle item crash can heal you. The problem is, it also uses up most of your Heart supply (which takes forever to resupply). And its basic ability DOESN'T grant you damage immunity (specifically, it only grants immunity against certain enemies/attacks, at certain angle). Having said that, Saturn Maria was too overpowered, I'll give you that. But if you decrease the time of her skills being active, then you have balanced Maria (her invincibility skill should only last ~5 seconds). And it still doesn't change the fact that PSP was too underpowered. If Maria had regenerating heart (heart containers increasing the regeneration rate), but with the PSP "items", then it would be a better balance. If not, then at least the heart cost should be WAY down (Richter's item crash cost, at most 20, and most of them cost 10~15). And Maria should have that [up, down, forward] move to have invincibility window, just as Richter did (I don't think she did, but I'm not entirely sure about that). And Maria definitely should have had that invincibility item crash, prob for Maria doll (it was in the story mode to power up Richter, so no reason not to have it, and it can be used to get past that spike room), although shortened duration, and it would use 99 hearts (to prevent abuse). That'll make Maria way more usable, and more importantly, fun to play as.
Hearts being everywhere there is a torch is plentiful but not enough to keep you full, and picking up subweapons you already have on hand turns it into a large heart. i will admit that sometimes the heart farm process is boring, and some areas lack large heart torches in areas they would be really useful in. I did learn a few times that some enemies are best killed with the owls, either because of low max HP, the owl's ability to go through walls, hit stun, weaknesses, or in the case of Rock Armors or Bomb Armors it is due to the strange behavior caused by hitting their held weapon suddenly causes the owl to insanely drain their HP. Some enemies are often best left alive but only attacked to make them back off to keep them from attacking you. and a few cases a few air dashes can keep them from reaching you. Maria's playthrough is in my own opinion a Hard Mode with a twist. it played more like i would expect from survival horror games where resources are not very common and best reserved for when you absolutely must use them, like Resident Evil does with ammo for Shotguns, Magnums, and grenade launchers. not everything needs to be killed, but also making sure you have the ammo you need for what enemy you know is ahead.
Actually i show how to do any move that required a series of inputs which was displayed in the bottom left corner. I ignored showing how to do moves that are simple inputs like using a subweapon, pressing the item crush button, or jump while crouched. The only thing i forgot to show at all was how to do was forward and back dashing which was done by pressing L1 or R1. Why i didn't show how to do the simple inputs (like slide, dive kick, using a subweapon, and using an item crush) was because they are either something the player would have already known how to do from playing as Alucard long enough to unlock the ability to play as Maria, or because it was a single button.

@@GamerXDaringDoX Think of Richter mode without the Hydro Storm. The game suddenly becomes a lot harder. That was the perfect difficulty.
@@michaelsong5555 if by perfect difficulty you mean no difficulty lol. hydrostorm is wayyyyy to broken for me to have any fun.
Why didn’t you show how to actually do the moves? Seems like a pointless video.
