I absolutely love Maria because the random animals that she uses to attack enemies with turns out to be the four gods Suzaku, Genbu, Seiryuu, and Byakko. My favorite creatures from the Japanese and Chinese mythos.

I did some looking into this, and while there was Maria data in the PS version, it was claimed that she was never added as a playable due to time constraints. What throws me, is that here we are 25 years later since SoTN's initial release, and Konami hasn't gone "well damn, consoles are much better now to handle large amounts of data...why don't we touch up the graphics some, and make a definitive version?"
this is the saturn maria i wish there was a port that had both maria variants the extra dialogue and the music test and the extra saturn stuff we need a perfected amalgamated version
I love this game, but seeing those Maria sprites (didn't play the saturn version) is something. Really nice animations. I wish Konami would release a true complete version of the game, with all the Saturn content, without having to emulate a Japanese Saturn version.

Konami is busy in mocking their intellectual properties and franchise. And they also producing shit to run their pachinko machines to make money to survive & produce more and more shit games. Old days of Konami are long gone. A great company ruined their great IPs (Castlevania, MGS, Contra, Silent Hill, Sunset riders etc..) from which they could possibly gain a lot of money and fame. So shameful.

In Rondo of Blood, Maria was made to be an "easier" way of beating the game, as she was OP. If she had continued training, by the time sotn rolled around and Richter went missing, her adult self would have absolutely torn the castle apart. However, if Maria didn't train, she'd just be PSP Maria, arguably the weakest Sotn playable character
Great gameplay as María in Castlevania Symphony of the Night,is a awesome character and her magic power and fight skills makes her an incredible extra character 👌👍😉
I love how it looked like Olrox was trying so hard to be a gentleman and not hit a girl. Even though she just barged into his room, kicked him in the shin before he even stood up from his chair, and started beating the absolute hell out of him for no apparent reason. Then, after being a doormat for so long, he finally gives a warning shot and basically conveys the feeling of "You know what, I'm done" without saying a word. Just transforming and finally doing something besides moving about.
This is why I only date women who fly 20 feet in the air and repeatedly drop kick everybody all within a fraction of a second. It saves me the trouble of having to fight anybody who heckles us.
Ive beat this game twice, once original and once psn download with over 200% completion. Never knew you could use her as a character. I lucked out and got the crissaegrim or whatever and thought i was a god.
I had a Sega Saturn I didn't know this was released for it, i can't believe I didn't know that the Saturn really could do 2d games well I always thought just not very good 3d games. I love the music to this game so much
Hey Shadowserg, I noticed you are using the 4MB patch! I didn't see any slowdown on the Beelzebub and Legion boss fights. You should put a link or something in the description so other people can try out this hack!

It was because the developers ported the PS1 version exactly as it was and that did not translate well to the Saturn's complex architexture as it is very different from the Playstation. Basicially how the Playstation handled the sprites for SOTN was with flat textured polygons, not true 2D sprites. Because the Saturn renders it's polygons using quads, this put a strain on the CPU and ate up a lot of it's processing power. It also didn't help that they only used ONE of the Saturn's processors leaving the VDP2 pretty much unused, putting more strain on the CPU and slowing things down even further which is why you get so much slowdown in the Saturn port. If they had built the game from the ground up and used ACTUAL 2D sprites, this game would have ran on par or even better than it's Playstation counterpart. A shame that never was...
@@solarflare9078 That 4MB RAM patch I mentioned was created as an alternative to reduce the slowdown of the Saturn port to a bare minumum while still keeping the port the way it is and not having to reconstruct the whole game.

The slowdown in SotN Saturn is a RAM issue? Wow. And the Saturn had more RAM than the PlayStation too....
