    Huge pet peeve...(stereo hack installs) just finished restoring one of the worst hack jobs on my buddys sn95. Fixing his Mach 460 stock system with a new nice head unit. Perfect rant Chris lol. Appreciate you man. Keep up with great content and hard work.

    I've been doing the same on all my foxes for years! Thank you for informing more people to hopefully save some more center consoles.

    that is beautiful! My dad hacked up the whole dash of my 89 GT vert when he had it. Monster tach holes, cell phone holder holes, crappy head unit plate holes, cut speaker wiring, and cut stereo wiring. I used plastic weld and patience to repair the holes in the dash & console, but I have yet to fix the head unit wiring that was cut up.

    Man Chris this is what I’ve been doing for years on all the foxs I’ve had👍🏻👍🏻 this is what happens when you have OCD! I remember getting the install kits and I’m like “I’m not screwing in to my dash like that”

    Very informative! I'm dealing with this exact situation and it's frustrating, brand new interior and that "wallet holder" flying out everytime I'd touch the gas a little, lol

    That’s the way I always done that for years until I upgraded to the double din stereo… that’s when mine got drilled… let’s face it… you put anything in that fake cubby hole… it flies out as soon as you turn the corner!!! That hole was originally designed for the ford equalizer that was an option… if you didn’t have that… you got the fake cubby hole… a new double din radio fits the hole perfectly!!!! Looks like it was made for it!!!!!!!

    I know this video is older, but I'm hoping notifications will bring you back here. I'm working on bringing my Grandpa's 89 GT vert back to life. He didn't take the best care of the interior and the entire stereo is without paint or real function. I want to replace it with something modern, without doing irreparable damage. What size stereos can fit when you do the install as shown in the video? Might be a dumb question but I've been searching high and low and I'm no closer than I was.

    When I have anything to my car I always took the angle of "what if I want to undo this" Yeah it may take a few extra minutes or parts but if you ever want to undo it, it can be undone easily.
    Thanks for the good video.

    Did this years ago with mine. However, with hard launches on ET Streets the head unit came flying out because the pocket was just sitting there. I glued the pocket in place and haven’t had an issue since. Sure, it forever limits me to single DIN head units, but I don’t really care.

    I didn’t know it was another plug in there. Mine didn’t have one. I don’t think mine has one it’s a 91 but my amplifier is underneath the radio.

    Two things I absolutely hate doing to ANY car,
    1) drilling holes
    2) hacking up the factory wiring.

  • @Anthony-rv3hr
    @Anthony-rv3hr Месяц назад

    I never hacked my GT's radio setup. In my younger days I just had an amp with a Kicker SS10 in the hatch with all the other stock components. It was just as good as anything else soundwise for what I wanted.
    Nowadays adding a high-end stereo to these cars is pointless. I'm sure all the squeaks, rattles and exhaust noise is trashing any fidelity you may have gained anyway.

    This and stop putting the aftermarket tach drilled into the nice pretty clean dash pad. 99% of you aren't driving a racecar so you don't need it anyway

    I wish someone good with audio would show how to properly bypass the factory amp or tap into it. Been wanting to change the head unit in my 93, but I don’t want to loose any of the speakers by doing so.

    • @TheInfamousProject
      @TheInfamousProject  Год назад +2

      Pretty easy to do as explained just get the black connector from the back and bypass the amplifier

    • @_Livid_
      @_Livid_ Год назад

      @@TheInfamousProject heard you mention that in the video, I guess I’m just having a hard time understanding how the two connectors tie into the one that plugs into the radio. Wiring isn’t my strong area either, I can hook up some speaker adapters and plug them in, but I’m more of a nuts and bolts kind of guy.
