B-1 BOMBER MAKES INCREDIBLE STEEP BANKING CLIMB AT FAIRFORD 4K

- A trip down to RAF Fairford bagged some take off and landings from B1-b bombers deployed there from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas.
On return after a short exercise one of the pair gave us a touch and go followed by a steep climb in full afterburner. The steep banking to that followed was and incredible sight.

A B1 going into reheat is the loudest sound I think I've ever heard, it was absolutely incredible.
"Karen" is all upset at the noise and called the Air Force to complain :)
Eh? I heard Humble Pie in the Illini Student Union Ballroom. It was absolutely incredible too.
Same here. Saw/heard it once years ago in Wichita, KS. Sounded as if the sky was literally exploding/tearing up
Typhoo and f15 were quite loud iv stood 30 metres from a vc10 test run at dunsfold. That hurt!
Sorry,
The title belongs to a Vulcan scramble.
Saw a 4 piece scramble once, must have been late 1960s.
Nothing beats that.
This still has to be one of my all time favorite planes ever made! So sinister looking yet so effin graceful. Great vid..thanks!
For me that accolade goes to the TU-160... The B-1 is more polished construction perhaps, but once the TU-160 takes off it sheds the sightly more utilitarian design cues
Agreed! Mind blowing...........
tu-160 see
Mine would be the B-47 Stratojet
Wow!!! The afterburner sequence on takeoff is insane!!!!!
What a stunning footage mate ! That touch & go was so special
Thank you topfelya.
Hope your keeping well
My friend
@@DafyddPhillips Cannot do it justice. I was Air Force for 25 years. Was posted to Eielson near the end where the air density in sub zero weather would intensify sound. The Bone was one of the very few I would leave the nice warm office at -30 to watch take off. Four after burners lit, 250 feet in the air and the ground was still shaking. Only thing close is a Top Fuel dragster launching.
@@oldiron1223 must of been great times. I watched some top fuel dragsters in Vegas a few years back, that was insane!!👌
Brings back very fond memories working on the Romeo AWACS Alert Ramp at Tinker AFB in the early 90s. Functional check flights were quite an event. The most beautiful F-106B with high vis paint would taxi and blast off, disappearing out of sight south of the base. The Bones would taxi by 30 feet from us after a depot overhaul and take the active. Then all four burners were lit with brakes held to let them stabilize. Rattled our guts like you were driving down a washboard dirt road, brake release and max acceleration. Right as they rotated, the dart zoomed in from the south and tucked right in for a terrific close formation climb out. At the recovery of the sortie, several touch and go approaches were executed. At touchdown, burners were lit and the plane was aggressively rolled and climbed more steeply than in this video and within the confines of the base perimeter with it all hanging out, full flaps and gear down until the final full stop landing and taxi back to the mile long building. Good job Dafydd!!!
I wish the viewers could feet their stomachs and chests being shaken!
Thanks! What a great experience, appreciate your sharing it
@@danapeck5382 Roger that
Yessirr! That pretty much paints the perfect picture!
One of the most beautiful aircraft to ever to take to the sky, IMO!
This is not your opinion; This is FACT. 🙂
The first time that I ever saw a B-1, I was on a mountain top in far West Texas, late 1980’s. This particular B-1, must have been from Dyess afb, flew below us and it had a phantom on either side. It was an incredible site.
A few months ago I was heading west on I-20 About 15 miles from Big Spring TX and I noticed out of the corner of my eye a B1low level hauling ass perpendicular to the high way coming straight for my vehicle. He passed right infront of us and then he pull up almost vertical. It's a beautiful sight.
I witnessed a similar sight just outside Death Valley, CA, near Shoshone. There were 2 of them flying tandem, and they were using terrain-following radar, hugging the foothills, through which the road I was on led. It was one of the coolest sights I'd ever seen!
Always good to see them out and about over my house in Gloucestershire, as well as the 'Spirits' from time to time. I particularly enjoyed all the B52's over a couple of days earlier in the year!
То чувство, когда по доброму завидуешь возможности снимать подобные кадры, смотрю автора давно, и каждый раз с большим удовольствием. Как всегда жду с нетерпением новых фото на Flickr!
With its incredibly sleek physique, the B-1 is hands down, the most beautiful aircraft, bar none.
An F-22, F-16, SU-27, B-1, and B-21 each have their attributes. But for pure art form, the long, slender, curvaceous B-1 has no rival.
The gentleman ducking down as the B1 comes in overhead.... behind him two blokes stood on step-ladders. I AM LAUGHING MY ARSE OFF. Not at the chap ducking oh no, but at the "I will get the shot" outlook on life, GREAT VIDEO THANK YOU. All the best.
We have focused vision at all costs 🤠
@@DafyddPhillipsYou very much got the shot AWESOME.
Thanks for the video. The B1 is getting on in age now but I never tire looking at her. A thing of beauty and elegance....that can bite!
Cheers
Love, love these airplanes!!! But no video can capture how the sound of these beasts taking off literally shakes your insides!!!
So great, the B1 and your footage...
The BONE yard !!!!.
Magical, gorgeous flying machine!!!!.
B1 with burners on, cooking with gas! So powerful yet so graceful. Great work again Dafydd.
Thanks roger
I used to work on these things at Dyess AFB. Really makes me miss it. Thanks for the great shots!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent footage Dafydd 👍👏👏 good to meet you and Elwyn R tother week on Bwlch. 👍
I was in a zone, now restricted, riding a wave runner, during a low ceiling air show. The "Bone's came full afterburner and went straight up over my head into a cloud and GONE.
The most impressive thing I've ever seen in my life. I can still remember the SOUND, smell of aviation fuel and wave heat too this day.
So So smooth! you must have been standing pretty close to me 😂😂
I was taking some tips 🎓✈️
Looks like your rubbing off on Dafydd Elwyn 😂😂 I thought I saw you in there 👍
Imagine these flying the Mach Loop, what a sight that would be 😁
That would be special ✈️✈️👌🤠
Funnily enough I have had the same thought before seeing this comment, these B1's coming up through Bwlch would be awesome 👍😁
Awesome stuff Daf! Great to see you getting some action!
Thanks spencer. Catch up on the new year 🇺🇸✈️🤞
Great Stuff And Good To See You Again
Thank you Mr R Reagan for saving this wonderful aircraft!
00:55 thats insane! That is such a beautiful plane.
The Bone, love em or hate em! I love em!
Great shots by the way!👍👏
Thanks Andreas. I love them ! ✈️✈️
Some serious vortices there. Nice capture.
To me, the B1 is the most beautiful big plane that ever flew.
You have beautifully captured these angels of death. Stunning footage had my mouth open many times during this clip. The B-1 is a spectacular strategic bomber. One of the greatest off all time would be in the top 10 in any respectable aircraft enthusiasts list. Anyway thanks for sharing the great footage. Am a bit jealous you get to see and more importantly hear these incredible machines.
The takeoff must sound like a Saturn 5 Rocket launch.... awesome !
Excellent footage Dafydd
Just love the B1 what a beautiful aircraft.
Those suckers must use an incredible amount of fuel just to take off. Love it. Great video!
I worked on these, without burner 15000 pounds per engine per hour, with burner 60,000 per engine per hour. Most of the time they take off with 240,000 pound dual load.
@@chrisstaats4995 We had B-1's in Wichita,Kansas, before they were moved to South Dakota. Here, the public could go to the old control tower and watch these taking off at night. They called it afterburner nights, and it was so cool seeing these on a regular basis.Thank you for this,it is awesome!
1:12 Those engines are a *BEAUTIFUL* sight!
Welcome to Texas!! 🤠🤘
We used to watch these bombers do touch and goes at Williams AFB in Mesa AZ in the mid to late 80’s. They were amazing to watch and the powerful thrust coming from those four massive engines was unforgettable.
Very nice Dafydd, the touch 'n' go was super cool.
Just Love The Bone!
Me too! ✈️👌
Every air show that I’ve been to that the B-1 has flown they’ve done the same routine and towards the end they will do a relatively low pass and then do a steep pull up with a sharp climbing turn on afterburner. The B-1 was made to impress. Plus it’s about the loudest aircraft I’ve ever seen with those 4 after burning engines. I can’t imagine what the XB-70 was like with 6.
When those things are loaded down they handle like a big fighter!
wow that must have been quite a treat Dafyyd. very cool
Superb Daffyd as always! Thanks for sharing made me feel like I was there in person well done 🙌
A pleasure Paul.
I've seen these fly at a couple of air shows. Power and grace
What a plane!!
Agree 👌
The B1 is an awesome beast. Great video.
Thank you. It’s a beast 👌
THE best footage of the B1 online - well done
Thank you Eoin 👍
The Bone's such a beauty, not much they can't do with that much thrust. Looks like they almost did a roll but thought better of it.
@MrLewisBate well, yeah...
What an absolute beast of a jet the bone is……..love it, thanks
Thank you Daffidd..
Bealtiful aircraft...
Wow! Opening scene, looking up with the wide angel, getting the B1 on approach and the effort you guys go to get the shot!!
Thank you. Trying to be a little more creative as the ideas arise 🎓✈️👍
Thanks for posting. Magic!
Thanks for watching John 👍
GREAT VIDEO!! Still one of the sexiest planes ever built!
Awseome footage! Loved the touch and go!! 👍👍
Thanks Richard
Such a beautiful plane! You captured some great angles!

I’ve been waiting along time to catch a B1. An added bonus to have four at fairford

Cheers mat. Appreciate you watching
To me, an unique icon of design!
congratulations.... from brazil !!!! thank´s
Obrigada 🇧🇷👍
Great piece of work. Thanks for posting.
Thanks David
Originally the Rockwell B1 (International). I seen this in the 70s when it was unique.
I spoke to a USAF pilot who flew it in at an air show in 2000 and I said it’s a thing of beauty the Rockwell International and he was gobsmacked! He had never heard it called that in his career.
Rockwell International was the company that made it.
The B1 was never called "the Rockwell International."
What are you smoking?
Short for the Rockwell International Harvester? lol it was always the B1/Lancer
That is still a beautiful looking aircraft
super cool
Wow, the bombers do the touch'n'go!
Really good 👍 thank you for posting
Appreciate you watching it David
Thank you 👍
Great video Dafydd cheers.

Very cool
A B-1 flew over the golf course yesterday, banked towards Edwards AFB! Cool.
Great stuff Dafydd
Thank art, hope your well?
Did you head down the Beach today? ✈️✈️
Couldn’t get there today
I saw one do a fly-by at an air show with full-burners - the loudest airplane I’ve ever heard.
Great footage of a beautiful aircraft, thanks for sharing it.
Thank you
Stunning! First time I see a Bone touch and go 🤔... Well done! The shockwaves seem to last forever hey? 😜
I don't touch myself often
But when I do I'm watching this channel
