Dang, I think it got purged for the link to the actual shell, but RetroCN also has a metal shell for $190. I kind of think the third party looks a lot better than Analogue's since the buttons are an offset color that that appeals more to me. The only benefit the Analogue one has is not voiding the warranty for taking it apart, and no risk that the customer will break something/hurt the screen. It's still not worth the price Analogue is asking for, though.
I hope that in the price these are versions with an OLED screen, otherwise yes it is clearly taking us for cash cows!

At that price point, you might as well just pick up a Steam Deck OLED instead. It's not FPGA, but it can emulate waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more games in addition to being a portable gaming PC.

Definitely, I love the design of that one more. Horizontal oriented handheld to me are the most comfortable to hold and play.

They should have got a move on doing something with that form factor a long time ago.

Analogue makes quality stuff but none of it is worth 500 dollars.
Analogue’s business decisions never cease to disappoint me.
Yeah, I'd have bought something off them if you could actually just like, buy it.
I'm not sure how this would affect you. You clearly have no interest in it. These models are expensive because of the materials and even smaller production run. If anything, Analogie could spend more time promoting that they have great customer service, assuring their customers that their complaints are handled swiftly. Anecdotally, I've heard returns handled well, but it sucks to spend money, wait, then wait again for a replacement, if something goes wrong. People usually don't pay attention to the good stuff though.

@@ElitePWNSFace I get that there are a lot of people going for these things so you have a better chance at getting something near the release time. So is the real complaint, 'Why can't analogue be a bigger company?' Also, I think they have improved their pre-order system with the pocket, having multiple pre-order runs; however, because of the scale of the company, it takes forever to handle orders. I was in the first batch of pockets and I think it took over a year to get it. It was the same for the adapters. I had no issue with the site when placing my order at the release time.
@@WhatsOnMyShelf they have like 20 customers. It isn’t hard to keep up with it when you produce 3 analogue pockets a year.

I am PERFECTLY ok with my standard black Analogue pocket. It has given me zero issues. As long as they keep selling the standard version, I am OK with this. There are people who have the money to spend more. I know that is not me. I would rather use that money to pick up that adapter pack and more games.
It is also a win, win if Analogue uses the profits from this to help bring to market other products like the upcoming N64 system and I am waiting for Analogue to announce an "Analogue Nomad" which would be an updated Sega Nomad FPGA machine that could play Sega Genesis / Sega Mega Drive games as well as Sega 32X and Sega Master System games all in a landscape 6 button form factor that you could dock and use on your TV. One can hope :)

There are aluminum shells available but are a nightmare to fit,wulff den done one and it was $200 and a diy job.

I'm done buying new Pockets. I have an original black one and I bought a Glow in the Dark. I felt like the screen and the audio on the Glow in the Dark weren't as good as my original. I thought maybe I was crazy and had another friend compare them side by side. He was shocked as well. I'm surprised I haven't heard more people talking about this. The audio felt fuller, with a greater range and the screen felt higher contrast with better saturation on the original. It was enough of a difference that I sold the Glow in the Dark and decided to just enjoy my original.

The sad thing about this is, people who do pay these prices, it just gives these companies reason to up their price on everything else that they sell in the Future because they know people will pay it. Just don't give them your money and watch their prices lower. Same thing with the latest cell phones. Sure the specs become a little better but the prices jump over the years to $1,000+ for the latest and greatest. They milk the consumer for the slightest upgrade and expect them to pay mega bucks for it. Again the only way to prevent these ridiculous prices is to stop buying into it.
Get the Analouge 64 preordered in 2024 for $640 soon! They will sell a total of 64 to scalpers within 64 seconds of preorders being open. Then when the scalpers get the system in 64 months, you can buy them from the scalpers for $6400

They're not selling-out nearly as quickly as before. As I type this, it's about 20 minutes past and they still have all colors available. I suppose people are saying $500 is excessive.
Almost an hour now. All colors are still available. I'm not buying any this time around. With shipping /tax/customs fee it would end up costing almost 750 USD for one... (and if Ali Express can add tax (then I won't have to pay the 20 USD in customs fee) then why can't Analogue?)
21 hours later and the only one that's sold out is the Indigo one.
The fact that three of the four colors are still available despite being "highly limited" in quantity is super funny to me. Even the regular white Pockets sold out faster than this the last time they were up.
Strategy: Start with $500. They sell a few. Black Friday an equally ridiculous $400. And sell a bunch to people who think they're getting a steal 😂

Any company that makes highly limited product, is highly unlikely to get my money. I don't give limited run products the time of day at all. I don't care how good or bad your product is. If I can't order your product stress free online, you are not worth my time or money.

Ive got a regular one, does anyone else not feel happy with the buttons and how they feel? I feel like the abxy are too close and small. Plus the feel when pressing them it doesnt feel organic idk how to describe I wish it were more dmg gameboy like or snes

I mean it would be nice to have an aluminum design so we dont have to worry about the eventual chipping of the plastic shells but $500 is nuts. I just wish they would do another production run on the SuperNT as i missed out on it while it was still in production and now i can only find it for $500+ from scalpers.
I play my Pocket sparsely in short bursts, tbh. I like what it can do, but if I ever needed a new handheld, I am looking at the competition. Unless thus had something new to offer in terms of functionality, it is just for collecting

I just bought the RetroUSB AVS back in April, and I love the heck out of this system! It's the same output quality as the Analogue NT Mini but NOT $500. 😂
I would never buy an Analogue product. If things were different, and Analogue products were reasonably priced AND being mass produced on a constant basis, like the AVS is, I would've gone with BOTH the NT Mini Noir AND the black Analogue Pocket instead of the AVS. I just wish RetroUSB would make a Gameboy/GBC clone to compliment the AVS. I would buy it in a heartbeat!

I originally wanted an Anologue Pro, but ended up buying the original Ambernic RG35XX. I am thrilled with it! Its not perfect obviously, but I can play Snatcher, PS1 games, Metroid Zero Mission, all Gameboy, Gam3 Gear etc and it only cost me 65 quid!

I have barely used my Analogue Pocket and it already broke. Had to get it repaired for $70. plus it's been gone for over a month. Kind of disappointing. Maybe the new one won't break, just gotta drop another $500 for that feature.

This is going to sit for a while before it sells out, not many people want to pay $600 for a pocket. The resellers will have to charge $900 to make any profit …

Interestingly a day after 8bitdo announced/released the Gold and Silver metal controllers priced higher than any of their other controllers. I'm guessing they dont know the cheapest logitical price for shipping heavy metal.
Did 8bitdo have some part in the creation of these new Pockets? I remember reading a comment someone claiming 8bitdo helped develop the D pad for the original Pockets, but I don't know if that is true.
I predict we won't hear anymore about the Analogue 3D before this October. We be lucky to get one before 2026.
They never notify their consumers. They just tell you few days before and they just drop it like they are doing now with this.
They think people just sit on money and they can always pull out to pay no matter the timing.
RetroCN made an aluminum shell that was $190. They're all sold-out now, but that would put the price at $410 total (190 + 220). Then factor in the time it would take for you to do the mod yourself plus level of risk tolerance of potentially breaking your Pocket and decide if that is worth the extra $90.

My theory is they are machining the 3D and using the materials and machines in the mean time to make another quick buck, cool but pricey

THATS A SPICY PRICE WooAAHH. I always wanted one but man I cant help but imagine all the games I could buy for that price. Its like how Halo Infinite brought out cosmetics bundles that cost $30-$40..
