Hi Sharom! Love this system! We will give this a try! I am wondering, during the cruise do you typically store your envelopes in your safe that is in your cabin? Do you find that to be secure and no worries? We are new to all of this, and I’ve read various opinions on appropriate amount to tip bartenders room, Stewart’s waiters, etc. we have prepaid our gratuities already, but do realize it’s nice to tip here and there a little extra. Can you give some guidance on what you typically will tip a bartender , waiters at specialty dining. Etc. we have already paid our gratuities, but do you feel it would be nice to tip a little extra but I don’t wanna tip too little that as an insult if you know what I mean?
Hi Melissa!!! First..using the in cabin safe has proven to be very secure for many people. We will use that, plus maybe a few other hiding spots tucked away. We feel any theft on a cruise ship is an act of opportunity. Keep things hidden and out of sight and you should be good to go. In addition to the standard gratuities, we will tip extra for any service above or beyond. If our cabin steward is awesome..an extra 20-40 on the last day will be well received. Attentive or interactive bartenders will get anywhere to an extra buck added on to occasionally a five dollar bill. I don't think any tip would be considered insulting.
@@SharonatSeaTravel Thanks so Much! I understand what you’re saying, I just didn’t want to hand a 5 over and the server feel like geez , I guess I didn’t do a good enough job for those folks! I know its not a constant tip each time but definitely above and beyond!🥰 I just know from watching and listening from vlogers that Tipping extra definitely helps the crew!
Sharon what a great video!!! Going to use this method for sure for my cruise in Oct! Going to use it also for saving for the cruise it self, an envelope for each month and put a set amount in each envelope the first of every month until we have to pay balance. With the envelope”s we will make sure they are visually in view so we are sure to put the money in them, rather than a bank savings account that is out of sight out of mind. I’m going to try it and see if it will work. My boyfriend and I aren’t good about putting money in the saving’s account every month for the cruise and we end up having to shell out a large amount to pay balance in full!!!! 🙄🤨 thanks Sharon for sharing this method with us, and giving me a great idea. !!!!
Thanks Sharon. Such great and helpful info about the "what ifs" that are not required but ALWAYS are needed as expense info for cruising guests. It is the way I like to plan for the extras while crusing!!
Hey Sharon! So question for you.. we are not pre-paying our gratuities either.. Do you just pay your waiters, etc directly when you are there? Or do you just have them bill your Sail and Sign card? Thanks!
Awesome video! Your envelope system was more in depth than I thought. I’m going on this cruise in Dec so I’m definitely going to use this for my trip. Thanks for sharing!!
I do something similar but it’s an accordion wallet and we put money in each section per day. It really does help to stay on budget. For my upcoming Splendor, I’m going with friends so I only need to budget for myself.
Sure you can..you estimate what you will spend each day..meals, travel, excursions, souvenirs, gambling, drinks...try to give yourself a daily budget to meet so you have an idea of overall spending.
Carol Mauriello Yes you can either put the money on your card when you check in at the port or once you board the ship at guest services. The amount depends on what we plan to spend on things. I listed several things in the video that get charged to your sail & sign card. You can add some of those up and personalize it to what you would plan to spend.😊
Love this / I will be watching it again before my upcoming 14 day cruise in November. Again Thank You
Great idea! Thanks for sharing Sharon
Great video for first time cruisers .Thank you I really enjoy and appreciate all your videos.

Amanda Graves You're welcome. Hope it helps!!!😊

Yes, I always feel less stressed when I plan.
Hey Sharon! So question for you.. we are not pre-paying our gratuities either.. Do you just pay your waiters, etc directly when you are there? Or do you just have them bill your Sail and Sign card? Thanks!
They will automatically bill your sail & sign card about mid week.
Thanks Sharon, I'm going to use this on our next cruise!!
Pamela Sasser Great...Be sure to send me a message and let me know if it worked well for you.😊
Thanks Sharon! This is very helpful.
You're welcome!!!

CHRISTINA C Let me know how it works for you. 😊
Sharon at Sea - Will do!!
I love this idea! Great video 👍🏾

Thank you for video. Very helpful.
Hiya iem going on cruise in 2wks, what is the currency onboard, Royal Carribbean liners, is it AUSD or USD dollar's thanks...
US
So Sharon, for the $1.00 tip money, do you carry it around in a purse on the ship? thanks for the video! :-)
Gail Abert No, we just keep it in our cabin somewhere that we can get to easily. Once I get on the ship, my purse gets put away for the week.
Wouldn’t you put it in the safe
Oh my gosh rest plan
Yay, im gonna do this
I dont see how you can do this because these expenses cannot be predicted most of the time except tips or free spending.
Sure you can..you estimate what you will spend each day..meals, travel, excursions, souvenirs, gambling, drinks...try to give yourself a daily budget to meet so you have an idea of overall spending.
Do you trust the inroom safes?
dawn payne Yes. We have never had an issue with them.
Good i have never either but good to ask ..thanks
Thanks just saw the safe answer
I thought you can’t use cash for drinks at bar .
You can't. I put the cash on our sail & sign account which then use my sail & sign card to purchase drinks.
I might have missed this- how much money do you put on your card? Do you do that when you board. Thank you from a first timer.
