No body is talking about the trauma this young man has suffered due to the marital crisis and parent separation. How do you expect these children to cope and turn out alright

I was just about saying that. Reactions from his peers probably makes it difficult for him to concentrate, or who knows if his father actually paid the fees he claims.

When I was a teenager I wanted so much to become a star musician and didn't think going to school was useful for me. But my sister told me to become a good musician you need to be educated. My mum practically dragged me to getting a degree. I didn't become the star musician I dreamt of becoming but today I'm very proud of my degree. Every educated parent will want their children to be educated because they know the importance of education

Still, something is not adding up for Emeka, As he is claiming that he was paying tuition at an expensive university, and giving pocket money to his kid, this means the kid was living a good life. Then suddenly his kid dropped out of university and started working at a cheap restaurant. If that kid is a spoiled kid, I don't think that even he will look for a job rather he will go to the streets and join the Street groups. Something from Emeka is not adding up.
Emeka said his ex-wife took some of his properties, what Emeka is trying to tell the public now is that his ex-wife is not responsible enough to use all the worthy she from him and pay tuition to her kids after taking some of Emeka‘s properties. This man needs help.

Finally someone making sense. This woman hit the nail on the head!
This young man who tried to use Davido as an example should know that Davido too had to go to school. His family almost disowned him because he didn’t go to school. And now that he has gone to school he said it was the best thing he could have ever done and he has developed skills that he would not have developed unless he attended school.
So pls Emeka’s son should go to school. Even if he doesn’t use it just have it .. especially if his father wants to pay.
And no more interviews. Pls let husband and wife deal with their matters.

So how do you communicate that with your child, this is exactly what my mom used to tell me, that she didn’t have the chance to go to university so she would love for me to complete. When I went to school I focused and I studied, I passed my exams, left the school in peace without any issues. And even though sometimes things were not so good I always remembered what my mother said, I wanted to make her proud. I didn’t want to break her heart. So how do you speak to your children, if not for how some of us our parents talk to us, do you know where some people would be. If you want to do something, you remember your mother or father’s face and you’re like no I can’t.

From the point of view of an educator yes degree is important but you don't necessarily need a degree to be successful. For example the CEO of face book, Microsoft...... all dropped out of school a lot of well known individuals don't have degree. You have to know what your child's strengths are and guide accordingly. Also in this current age the old way of parenting does not work to me it's like existing in digital world but operating in analog mentality. Ameka neds to work on himself first and then help his family for he is a broken man and can't give what he don't have. I will keep this family in my prayers 🙏 ❤

Please distinguish between anger and psychopathic narcissism. Also, know that the behavior of the dad can explain why that child dropped out of school. He is emotionally traumatised by the abuse and separation during childhood. The boy has mentioned changing schools due to fighting during childhood. Have you analysed how the siblings are? Women subjected to narcissistic abuse go on to be very high achievers when they snap out of it. So, the trajectory that Emma has taken is not surprising at all. There is still hope for that child. He needs therapy.

      @nanas.recipes_ 8 месяцев назад +9

Exactly my point. 😅people do have the slightest inclination of what abuse can do to children. I am even thankful that the boy is not into some terrible vices honestly.
Whatsoever that child is going through is because of their parenting issues. Not every child can move past pain and abuse without help. That boy needs fatherly love and support but Emeka is carrying out the anger of his ex wife on his children. Like the saying, ‘ when two elephants Dey fight, it’s the grasses that will suffer’.
I say it with my full chest, when you decide to bring children into this world, be ready to give your presence, encouragement, correction (in love), unlearn, learn and relearn. When you have four children, you have to be intentional as a parent to know what works for each one. I am a teacher and I see, hear what children go through and some don’t even want school to end as an excuse not to go back home.

Nigerian parents scold their children, but not cursing them to fail. Try to know why that boy dropped out first before judging him, I nearly dropped out cos of cultism and oppression, if not that my parents were supportive, I would have dropped out, and the world would judge me. Tell the differences and narrate there stories looking at each other face to face.. That's why I'm telling you for you to be supporting one Party due to the actions of the other you're pouring h8te and allowing ignorance set in by neglecting the other party.
And let me point this out, Emeka son fighting and doing whatever he does in school is never a problem from his father. A popular saying quote; say no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.
For a fact I know when my parents had there issues, you can never see me going to watch them, even when my mum will want to manipulate our minds. I'll tell her nothing concern me. I never picked any side. And I know today 6 of us as children not picking sides between this couples helped a lot in keeping this marriage. Growing up with a Neutral identity and not allowing parents problem get to you was something nobody thought me. I assume I'm too young for that and hence is none of my business. I never fought anyone and I'm the first to even advise any girl who gets beaten during a relationship to immediately serve breakfast. No amount of sorry should anyone accept. So clearly we all are responsible for our behaviors. You won't blame a father of someone who was old enough to pick side as a kid and now his over 20 yrs for his child behaviors.
I was 15 years when my dad told me until I make my own money I'm not entitled to the least of his wealth. Then my eyes opened, immediately you are able to think and make decisions as a human being for yourself. Your behavior and pattern of growth lies in your hands. I tire for you Freeze. Listening to you two tells me you don't even have a good grasp of the situation about the Ikes. At the root of all this brouhaha is a very broken/toxic and, I dare say, immature father/husband. A man who's supposed to be the head of his home, but very unfortunately doesn't just have what it takes to fill that role.
Going to school or not is not the crux and should never even consume the amount of time it did in this dialogue. Going to school is so very secondary to the issues at the heart of the matter here. I am the first person to tell you that going to school is very important (anywhere in the world). But it's definitely not an ultimate. The lessons and values gleaned from a stable and progressive home, trumps even the best degree from Harvard.
Michael can go to the best school but all that would be rubbished by my the trauma his home served him.
Just listening to Emeka Ike, before I saw Emma's or her son's interview with Chude, it was very OBVIOUS that here's a child talking. I don't care how old Emeka is, he needs to grow up. He doesn't even have the maturity of a well adjusted adult. (My 23 year old son is so disgusted at him and says that all a lot of Naija parents have going for them is their age without the commensurate. maturity)
My father who is a typical Nigerian parent, told us his children (as each of us turned 18) that the hallmark of an adult is that you make decisions and stand/live by their consequences, good or bad. It's only in Africa that we stifle young people and still expect them to grow up. The result is, the generalty of the people never grow up.
Micheal is not a child by any standards and as such should not be dictated to what to do or otherwise. Wisdom would demand that Emeka RESPECTS his son and reason with him rather than ranting like a spoilt brat who must always have his way.
I acknowledge that age confers some advantages on an individual, but hey, we live in a society where increasingly the younger ones are showing more good sense and maturity than people way older than them.
What's the noise about NTIC(Nigeria Turkish International School)? My son got admission into the school, but after doing due diligence, I changed my mind about him attending the school. That Emeka paid so much does not equate to him making the best choice for his child.
EMEKA IKE SHOULD JUST GROW UP!!!!!

The home/family should be a safe haven for the children but the adults that should be nurturing their children are at loggerheads and causing mental torture to the children.

Your kid did something wrong, and you, as a parent, corrected him or her is now an abuse. Listen, I went through so many beating from my mom growing up, but you know what? That's what shaped me into the person that I am today. Abroad, there are so many kids that have parents that all they do from morning until night is drugs, yet those kids turned out good kids, So what do you call that? Good parenting?. The VN played (not supported) was a response to something, what was Emeka responding to? He said he's being blackmailed. He said go and do it now as if the boy was threatening him with death/sucide.
The issue with we Nigerians/Africans is we're too emotional and this robs us of the ability to reason; see beyond what's being said.
Emeka Ike story has holes, his wives own has a lot too, the boy is pained and also seemingly manipulative, at a point i told my dad i think he doesn't love me, but today I adore that man.
Another thing is some people find a way to continually tell themselves a lie until they believe it to be true, that's what this family is doing right now especially the boy, because he now hates his dad he'll taint his image in his head until he believes that's who his dad actually is.

My dear I wish I could hug you now.........I know how many times i walked up to my mother that father wasn't my father and she would cry that she has never known any other man in her life and she will plead with me and talk me into seeing the good in my father ........my darling today i can never pray for a better father .....
.my father shaped me,my father is my hero today,my father taught me how to make money with my hands even when i never knew the value of money .....my father taught us simplicity, humility, focus, hardwork etc....my father would take me round town showed me the end of an obedient child and the end of a disobedient child.......now i pray for long life for my father so i could repay him.....for all the disciplines he gave me and my siblings......

This our generation just want to be free. Na big problem oooo. Freedom to do what you want has caused more problems for the society today. When most don't find success at the end of their freedom adventure, they turn to crime just to cover shame.

Daddy freeze you miss the point always. Focus on the role of parent to redirect their children. A child may derail and make a mistake. There is still tjme to return them to focus. The worst way to do this js through the behavior of emeka. Call this out. Call out the bad behavior and do not in any way justify this. Then focus on the role of the parent to redirect the child to the right path.

Being raised by a single parent in a peaceful home may be enough 'trauma' for some kids, leading to maladaptive behaviors.
Any child that goes through the constant family turmoil Michael went through requires some extreme form of grace to turn out right.

He is not a dictator, if you're not trained that way, you will not be what you are, my mother told me that going to school is laziness and mocked me that l am going to school is to learn laziness. I trained my self as a lawyer and today l am very happy.
But without the abuse from my mother, l would have not been able to work hard. I do not know my father. It is unfortunate that some women will go into manipulate their children to hurt their husband is a very cheap blackmail. We are not in America or Europe if you are not hard to the children, they will not grow up.
He went to media to say his father is a drug addict.
Abusing your father on the social media who is a star. May God help our family.

Madam the scenario in which your father asked the car to -- you is not d same compared to what is happening in Emeka's home. Nothing justifies the abandonment and abuse meted to those kids. If he cared, he would have known the boy wasn't in school and do what he could to remedy the situation.

Let anyone say what they like , any parent who will watch their kid say bad thing about their ex while they are seated next to them, then something is missing. Even here in North America I have seen parent who will shut their kids up and still reminds them “ that’s you dad/mum”. When two elephants are fighting, it’s the grass that suffers. Let get marriage right and hopefully, all will be well. May God help us. Our parents have said worse things to us but that does not mean they don’t wish us well. We are still grateful to them for their guidance. Till date most parents still say worse and yet care a lot.
