    Thanks for posting the video. This is exactly what I was looking for, I can't find videos on the suburbans that share parts with 73-87 trucks but this is a great reference.

      All solid axle 10 bolt gms will mix and match minus the inner parts. There were minor changes inside the diff

      @@joshuaatkins5197 I believe my 90 4x4 1500 had the original (automatic locking) setup; so yes it had a large spring compressed by a metal ring. Once the ring was popped off, everything was able to start sliding outward

    Really appreciate the video just got a k20 dana 44 and wasn’t sure if there was a better way to get the spindle off but this helped

      Los compré en autozone. También puede quitar uno y llevarlo a un taller de pernos especializado para que lo combinen.

    The spindle nut socket is a 4-lug 36 mm

    I didnt see a snap ring on the outter splined shaft.....my truck dont have one...but theres,a grove in the spline for one....are we both missing a snap ring or is it not needed

      I searched 84 GMC factory manual .pdf and the manual came up in a PDF version.

      You will have some differences, but the procedure should be basically the same.

    What front axel does it have? Looks almost the same as my front axel on my k20 other than it being a 8 lug

    I have a 75 GMC 3/4 ton. The axle shaft won't slide out of the knuckle. I have taken off both of the nuts holding the ball joints but the shaft is too big to fit in the hole. Do you have to take the knuckle completely off on a 3/4 ton?

      Are you saying that you are unable to pull the shaft out of the axle because it wont fit through the knuckle? Is there movement in the axle when you pull on it? Like can you see that its to big for the hole? Thanks Greg!

      Looking at this diagram are you able to confirm that you pulled 52-48? A lot of times one of those is still on and holds it in place.

    I have a 1975 k10 and am changing the rotors the spindle nuts are on tight and everything ive tried i cant get them off and they have been soaking in penetrating oil. Could i maybe use an impact? I have the spindle nut socket i just dont want to mess anything up or any advice would be great! Thanks.

      Probably just rusted on. Make sure you are turning it the right way! ;) Did you put a breaker bar on it?

      Yeah thats what im thinking too im pretty sure this hasnt been done on the truck for a very long time. I haven't tried that but am going too!

    Do you have to take a clip off the axle shaft inside the diff housing?

      @@gregorymalchuk272 no the balljoint and suspension has nothing to do with holding the axle in. This is a front differential not a transmission. The spindle keeps the axle in place. That was the the last bigger piece he removed. Once it's bolted in place, the axle can't come out.

    My hub won't come off..it feels like its hitting against something inside.. I removed everything the exact way your video shows to.. what could it be?

      @@MechanicLife i got it. It turned out to be the inner bearing keeping it from coming out. I put a spindle nut about half way and tugged on the rotor a bit to pop it out. Your video helped me a ton. For this is my first time. Thanks for breaking my 🍒 lol

      Yup, Those are the stock rally rims. I have a video on how to refurbish them too. They are the originals that came with the truck. I have seen them at scrap yards from time to time though, craigslist, FB marketplace too.

      @@montanamade1114 Weird I thought they would be need to be wider to support the 12.5" wide tire. They look great, and I'm happy to know a stock rim will look good with 33x12.5 tires

    Do you have a video how to remove the axle have a 87 as el camino want to replace the whole thing and if it is possible to put a Corvette axle to put Corvette wheels

      @@MechanicLife Thanks for the reply. Just discovered mine are blown clear out on the 77 K20 I am trying to bring back to life. Only ever replaced driveshaft Ujoints. Do the outside cap looking parts just pop off?
