I’ve just got one of these boxes yesterday and it seems like there’s an issue with them I wonder if you have any advice. After being switched off in standby mode when it switches on goes to a small purple screen and you have to factory reset it or remove and refit HDMI cable to sort. I’ve been on the forums and seems to be an ongoing issue. Have changed ports and cables but still does it. Wonder if you have an advice because as you say it’s a great bit of kit if it’s working ok
The purple tint is only for BT subscription customers as i got one for freeview and only shows youviews black theme. Even the light around the BT logo on the box is green and not purple.
I have had BT TV for about 8 years and the biggest problem is the box freezing. I had 2 previous BT boxes which also froze ( Digital channels) before I got the Pro box. BT said the freezing was due to overheating. And not to keep it on permanently. Sounds like a design fault. Having to disconnect and wait for 30 secs and reboot (which is another 2 mins is a pain). Picture quality is very soft compared to my TV picture. Good points are being able to record multiple channels (4 freeview and 2 digital I think). Says it has Dolby Atmos but never seen the logo appear on my Atmos/Vision enabled Hisense 75" tv. My contract ends tomorrow and its being returned saving me £47 a month. These Smart TV boxes offer too many channels. Even if you spent 24/7 watching you wouldn't scratch the surface of whats available. The content on the main Freeview channels is plenty. And TVs can record now without an external box. BT has been getting my money too long. Goodbye BT😂
Does the mobile app allow you to browse the TV Guide and create new Recordings/Series Links from it? That's something I find really handy with the VM Tivo system.
Great video! Please can you help me with a query about the recording of the device in digital mode. I understand that it can only record 2 channels at the same time, but is this for when the box is connected only by ethernet. I don’t have an aerial in the room I’m thinking of putting this box in but would like to be able to record shows through the ethernet / digital connection only. Thanks in advance for your help.
Great review. Very useful stuff. Sort the technical issues out though mate, as it kind of undermines things a little bit. Mid sentence cuts, extended blackouts, weird audio noises at 6:21. 😂
Hey - One thing I keep trying to understand about this box - Does it pick up all of the live freeview channels over the internet? Or do you need to also plug in a digital aerial to make them work?
My understanding is you’ll get the freeview channels over the internet but if you wanted bbc where you are for example bbc one north east and Cumbria you would need an Aerial. For me that’s not a deal breaker as it’s just local news you’d miss out on
Yes you can do it in Internet mode, however you can only record 2 things at once as apposed to 4 on the Aerial, it also doesn't have a lot of channels like the +1 channels, and Dave etc .. as a lot of then don't do IP streaming yet, hope that helps
Thanks this was useful ... Quite "indiscreet"? Does that mean some part of its anatomy is hanging out? Or is it actually quite "discreet"? 🙂 . A commenter below also said that you *can* get All4, once you update or something... nice to get confirmation on that if you could...!
Hi I like to watch live bbc and itv. I have a subscription with BT. But can I connect remotely to my smart tv or will I still need to plug everything in, including my aerial? My old BT box needs to have the aerial to it and then hdmi to tv. Thank yiu
That is right. The freeview channels are then only limited to those you get via normal aerial so you'll lose QVC HD and Extreme Carp finshing from Kent channel 😉 Please do like and subscribe as really helps me.
Ok so I’ve just bought a bt box pro off eBay. Plugged it in and run through setup (IPTV over Wi-Fi) and I cannot receive any channels, I get a error BTP-15000. Speaking with bt customer services, because I do not have a bt tv subscription i cannot use the box as a free view box over the internet
Was thinking about replacing sky with this think I’ll keep sky now after watching this video anyone without either and thinking about what to get pick sky
Nice review! Do you know if the BT Pro Box will work with other ISPs (Virgin Media) or do you need to be with BT? Obviously not for BT services/channels but for freeview, netflix etc
Just to confirm, do you mean can you connect the box to another Internet provider? In other words, if youu have talktalk or Virgin broadband then it would still connect? If so, then let me check.
@@ratemygadgetsI'd like this please; my grandparents have an old TalkTalk TV Plus box which is on its way out and this runs the same YouView software which they know and like but is faster and much better.
I've got one of these and also my old bt humax box so I'm using 2 boxes but the problem is that the remotes work both boxes and even with my bt pro box in standby the box still flashes when fast forwarding the other box
Yeah, it would but the freeview channels would only provide those that are actually free. There are some that come with BT as a subscribe, many HD. Go here....www.bt.com/help/tv/freeview-explained to see more. Hope helps. Please do like the video and subscribe as really helps me.
I don't have full fibre and works well but obviously reliant on local network speeds. Hope helps. Please do like the video and subscribe as really helps me

First thing to do after install was to update the box. I have 19 apps. 3 rows of 5 apps and 4 at the bottom. This includes ITV and channel 4 among others.
One of my friends had sky before it had everything but she said it’s expensive recently she switched to BT it’s ok not has good as sky is very limited. Doesn’t have Disney+ or RUclips her teenage daughter is not impressed she likes to watch RUclips and watch Disney+ in her room the remote control is basic doesn’t even have a voice button
I dont know why Disney+ is an issue. Like all streaming apps, you can just add it to your smart TV which in most households, have a smart tv, anyway. 🤔
I have 19 apps including itv and channel 4. If you just installed this, the first thing you needed to do is update the box to get all that content.

Does anyone know if the BT box pro has gigabit ethernet or 100mb ethernet?

Recording shows not turning up in my recordings after setting up series record? Its showing in my scheduled list but cant watch the recording?

So you have to have the box to watch TNT subscription Football ?

Hi there, thanks for the review, just wondering if ITV X, channel 4 apps are available now?
Hi! Yes itvx and channel 4 are now listed on the apps :)
There is a loud clicking on left hand side audio from 6:30 to 7 mins!! Worth checking your video before uploading to RUclips..
Sorry to hear that (excuse the pun). Let me be more careful next time. Please do like and subscribe as really helps me
Hi what's the best value for money non subscription PVR with Freeview you can buy in the UK?
Good question. Let me go away, do some proper investigation and testing. I'll produce a video with findings.
So you could just buy one of these plug it in and get freeview? You dont need a BT Subscription?
That is right. The freeview channels are then only limited to those you get via normal aerial so you'll lose QVC HD and Extreme Carp finshing from Kent channel 😉 Please do like and subscribe as really helps me.

Hi….Have you used the NOW TV service on this for Soorts and Atlantic etc?
I haven't. BT is expensive enough without NOWTV on top of it. Sorry. Please do like the video and subscribe to my channel as really helps me.

Did you pay for multiroom, have you tried using 3 boxes? Also on your 2nd box do you get same channels?

So many unanswered questions for me
RUclips is missing
You say the Bt stream box doesn't have the more4 app . Yes mine dose have more4 app

RIP my speakers 6:24
This looks like a rebranded Manhattan box
No RUclips
No disney plus
No apple tv
No plex
And the sound quality from the box is poor
Apple tv is on there now.
I dont know why Disney+ is an issue. Like all streaming apps, you can just add it to your smart TV which in most households, have a smart tv, anyway. 🤔
Bearing in mind not all smart TVs have all the apps
😂
poor compared to Sky Q, ugly looking box, cheap looking remote, the guide looks awful.
