Hi Steve, I did have stream for a couple of months but it kept throwing up random messages, bit tempramental so got rid. Accessing Sky now though Now app on my Apple box linked to my HomePods. Cheaper too. 👍
Hey mate, great videos. Just wondering though - what is the advantage of going for this over NOWtv? It's still Sky, and it's still streamed but it's so much cheaper. Often you can get deals on it too to make it even cheaper. I understand if you don't have a smart tv, then sky stream is attractive but for anyone with a modern telly, NOWtv seems to be a much better offer in terms of value.
I got Sky Stream last year. Loved the picture quality, but the box kept turning itself off every 4 hours. It was really annoying when watching something like horse racing or even darts. So went back to Sky Q after month with Stream. I'll not go back to Stream unless I'm forced.
@@stevemarruk my internet goes down about 3 or 4 times a year as the hub for the whole area goes tits up & it takes a couple of days to repair it. I don’t have an Ariel just a sky dish. Will the hub work if I piggyback it off of my phone like a Roku?
Just signed up with Sky Q as find it far superior, even if not entirely supported anymore. Had it before before I canceled nearly 2 years ago and being without proper TV. I tried stream and found it to be truly irritating and slow etc and didn’t enjoy the new UI or setup at all, and not being able to record was a minus. Sure it’s offering flexibility and lower cost option but it’s not for me and my TV isn’t moving, I liked Sky Q before. Also, surely satellite services if being withdrawn should be reduced to be more in line with Skys new offerings, especially for more choice for all. Makes no real sense to pay more for something they’re barely investing in anymore!
Just ordered Sky Stream, switch from Sky Q, during the summer we have signal problems with sky q happens every year, dish has been moved 6 times by sky over the years so not sure where else they could put the dish now, so feel stream will be better, not too bothered about not being able to record things and have virgin 1gig broadband so connection shouldn't be a problem, wouldn't have considered it if i didn't have virgin as the normal fibre is about 20mbps in my area.
Auyup Steve In terms of sky stream, I really like the UI, I still think playlist is a mess because when you add something to a playlist, you can add things like individual episodes, it has to be everything, all peanuts nothing in the middle. Sky just want to stay relevant naturally and the best way of doing that going forward is getting a piece of that streaming pie. In terms of Amazon, I got pissed because I got stung twice when I watched road house 2024 and Road house, 89. I mean shit if Amazon wanted to just charge a little bit extra and bake it into prime itself (monthly/annually) I wouldn’t be happy but I’d be okay, it would at least come off less convoluted. You definitely won’t see sky add premium HDR formats (HDR 10+/Dolby vision). HLG is pretty much going to be all she wrote considering sky broadcaster. Not a big fan of the HLG colour grading, I saw some screenshots once when house of the Dragon S1 first started and HLG just looks so washed out in comparison to the Max Dolby, vision, HDR colour grading.

Sky Q is the better product because of recording, but then again… Stream does offer cloud recordings on Sky channels, and on TNT Sports. HD is the default compared to Q, so definitely Sky Stream. Every month it’s just getting better and better
Great to see you back steve. I've had Sky Stream for over a year and absolutely love it. Ditching Sky Q was the best thing that I've ever done. I'm out of contract though in July so need to see what deals Sky can offer me as my bill will then be going up to over £100 a month and that's without sports. Been with Sky for 10 years now so hopefully loyalty will count for something.
BBC gives y National and regional radio, the Website, Kids TV, Educational channels Channel 1234 and World service, BBC news and more, it’s not just one channel.
Do people on Sky Stream not realise that there are missing channels and not miss them, some have gone online only so it's the other way around, Ginx Esports, TalkTV, NBC News Now. However by simply having a satellite dish you will get Talking Pictures, That's TV, Now 80s, Clubland, Rewind TV and quite a few other examples of good free to air TV that Sky Stream so far does not have, so why not have a non Sky satellite receiver along with Sky Stream at least. I also like having +1 channels, why can't they stream them online too.
That’s is true but it’s weather that is a big deal for me to not have thick white cables and no dish on the side of the house and to move my TV around with no problems was much better for me
No +1 channels for back up lack of channels to what’s on sky q no recording channels to save for another day, also no vip with stream or glass the hole steam is bad idea when you have no internet connection or service is down without any form of back in place unlike sky q it has it all even when you have no internet you can still record live channels and which them live and do 6 recording at once wile which 7 channel all by satellite connection which I definitely will be sticking with for years to come, as you get all the apps on sky q and sky will be adding channels that you can stream from on sky q with it being hybrid service best of both worlds satellite and streaming all from sky q plus many more things unlike stream or glass which they clearly got very long why to go to catch up with sky q but get back up in place for stream and glass.
@@stevemarruk at least with satellite you have back up place unlike stream or glass where you clearly don’t have and so many things that’s clearly not on stream or glass to what I’ve explained out right in the comments above but hey everyone to their own decision and choice.

Sky stream is all well and good unless you live in a crap broadband area. My mates got glass plus a puck and had full fibre and now new house has 26meg estimated. Sky recommend 25 for glass. Now my friend is adamant it will be fine were as i dont especially once the ps5 is on or the kids are youtubing. I get about 30 meg over 4g so we tethered the glass and it was barely working and dropped off of hd as soon as the ps5 was on it was basically knackered. I wish they’d release it like the Hubbl in Australia which is the IDENTICAL service but where it’s more like a Now TV service where you use it to its OTA Freeview and can add channels - I’d like this as my I live stream more but everyone in the house likes Q
Sounds like you love this sky stream i want my tv on my wall and seems so easier with just the small box instead of the cables everywhere...so how much is this box
I think I paid £20 for it but it might different now
Having ended contract and returned sky Q back 10 days later I was ‘enticed ‘back, received streaming puck but handset would not work with my Samsung, 3 handsets and 2 pucks later still not working, enquired about getting sky Q box but sky wanted another 5 quid, I will be terminating contract soon, very poor service.
Does anyone know if you sign up for sky stream do you get a sky go password? I use my dads login and share the bill. Tempted with changing
For the mobile yes but not for Apple
Or Ps5
Is there polish language for audio available?
I'm looking to move from virgin as they are charging me £140 a month which isn't multi room or HD. Does have sport but not movies. So £40 for sky stream (£60 with sports) is a massive saving
How can you tell what speeds are going to the puck and I’m getting 900mb why would you recommend hard wired if you have such a good question your knowledge and videos are informative and great as ever
Hard wire there are no dropped packets to a degree it’s solid
@gavinmurphy6050 Always hardwire devices like this . On wifi your router will keep changing channels to avoid interference and that's when you start seeing problems with packet loss , or menu lagging , lip sync issues.
@@johnbailey4618 thank you I don’t have any problems other than when I put sky stream on sometimes it looses wifi connection but press home button twice and reconfigures itself have to be honest I have sky stream and Sony Bravia tv pay for UHD not really see much of a difference unless it’s somerhibg in settings
You can record in sky steam but it’s saved in the cloud instead of locally. So yeah you need an active internet connection but that’s fine.
I have Sky Stream. It’s good at collating stuff but I find the box a bit glitchy.
What sort glitches are you getting
@@stevemarruk Sound mostly. Sometimes the sound is out of sync to the video and on occasion it doesn’t start at all. Also video occasionally not starting or buffering until I reboot the box. ITVX is the worst culprit. I think it’s a connection issue, I’m 100% sure it’s not my internet because all my other devices are ok. I got sky stream on day 1 and I wonder if it’s because it’s an early model sky stream box.
Overall, I think I’ll stick with it but hope they produce a next gen sky stream box.
What would happen if you wanted to watch something after broadcast on Discovery but don't pay for Discovery+ I suspect you couldn't unless you pay for Discovery+ so in effect you have to pay for your sky subscription and subscriptions to all the catch-up apps
If you
Have discovery you can catch up right?
Just done it. Couldn’t record with sky stream. No good to me
Cheers for the review, I only got the sky stream due to a two year offer of 33 pound a month for tv and sports
My wife likes downloading Eastenders and Emmerdale through Sky Q. Does Sky Stream take you straight to the bbci player, and Itv player when you want to watch them, or does it let you watch them straight away like on sky Q?
@@Jay41015 did you ever find out? Considering switching as I’m on a communal system and the landlord is refusing to replace the multiswitch which is faulty
They both have their advantages
I got Sky Stream last year. Loved the picture quality, but the box kept turning itself off every 4 hours. It was really annoying when watching something like horse racing or even darts.
So went back to Sky Q after month with Stream.
I'll not go back to Stream unless I'm forced.
Sky give sign up "deals" for an 18 month subscription and then 6 months in put their prices up.
Why don't companies from other countries use a similar system?
Good question
Unfortunately it doesn’t record so I would never change from Sky Q to Stream sorry 😮
Isn't save the same as record??
I need to make a decision soon.
How many internet connections can you have? Also what happens when your internet goes down?
Use the Ariel but how often is the internet down these days
That’s fair
Anyone still having issues with watching UFC events through catch up? Do you still have to wait 48 hours for it
Just ordered Sky Stream, switch from Sky Q, during the summer we have signal problems with sky q happens every year, dish has been moved 6 times by sky over the years so not sure where else they could put the dish now, so feel stream will be better, not too bothered about not being able to record things and have virgin 1gig broadband so connection shouldn't be a problem, wouldn't have considered it if i didn't have virgin as the normal fibre is about 20mbps in my area.
I love stream just as good if not better
@@stevemarruk Well it arrivied yesterday, might take a little bit to get used to but no problems with it, set up easily. Happy with the switch
@Wayne814 good man I hope it all works out for you
@@Wayne814 How is Sky Stream now?
I've went back to Now £2.99 each for entertainment/cinema and £1 for boost for 6 month and not having to forward adverts geet in lol 👍
What happens if internet goes down?
Use the freeview Ariel
Auyup Steve
In terms of sky stream, I really like the UI, I still think playlist is a mess because when you add something to a playlist, you can add things like individual episodes, it has to be everything, all peanuts nothing in the middle.
Great feedback
@@stevemarruk thanks Steve, hope you and yours are well like?
@Eva_H all good thank you
Sky stream does record now - it records to the cloud with the new update on lots more programmes
There you go
@@stevemarruk time for a video on LG channels - they’ve had a huge update and integrated them in to the Freeview EPG. Much better quality channels and integration now
Sky Q is the better product because of recording, but then again… Stream does offer cloud recordings on Sky channels, and on TNT Sports. HD is the default compared to Q, so definitely Sky Stream. Every month it’s just getting better and better
If I save (record) for instance 6 hours of sky golf can I watch it from the beginning while it is still recording?
I thought you could save all programs irrespective of which channels they're shown on??
I really like sky stream , hardly watch apple tv box now . Wish they had hdr10, plus tho
It will come I think
I had sky stream for a week now I love it
Great to see you back steve.
Thank you
For some reason steve I'm unable to see your comment buddy. Says you replied to me but nothing there.
Just says thank you
@@leemason666 Did you stay with Sky Stream?
I love your presentation. Remember the day when we only had 3 Channels. A Tube Tv 22'' B+W, Maybe color Ha. No internet really.
And you had to get up and change the channel
It’s the price that attracts me 100.00 per month vs 40.00
I can not have a dish. Got low broadband speed got sky stream yesterday. Got connected yesterday . Runs fine watch sky sports with no issues.
3 months later, any issues?
Still prefer sky Q.
@@bomtybear999
Why?
That’s is true but it’s weather that is a big deal for me to not have thick white cables and no dish on the side of the house and to move my TV around with no problems was much better for me
@@stevemarruk I even have a motorised satellite dish for even more channels, however motor needs repairing, so is aimed at 13 East.
BBC: one channel for "£15 a month"? Try 4 TV channels + radio + online. And no mention of the fact that Sky stream forces you to watch adverts.
Im assuming your having a pop about TV licence. Radio isn't covered by the licence . Still a rip off either way.
@@HA05GER Radio & online are funded by the licence.
@@stewartbrough9597 they may be funded that way but you do not require a licence for the radio.
iwant skystream outside uk
I left Sky Stream and went back to Sky Q…. The audio output on Sky Stream was terrible.
Big clunky dish big clunky box big clunky cables can’t put your tv where you want. But that’s the beauty of choice go with what suits you.
@@stevemarruk at least with satellite you have back up place unlike stream or glass where you clearly don’t have and so many things that’s clearly not on stream or glass to what I’ve explained out right in the comments above but hey everyone to their own decision and choice.
@@jameschannel8484 GREAT FEEDBACK THOUGH
Can I take it somewhere with me
Good question im not 100% sure
Having to go back to sky q internet kep5 dropping out
We use mainly sports. Without the record option you can not watch football matches on demand. Only thing they show are highlights which you can easily get online.
Seem like a complete waste of money for sports fans.
@@Paul-fh9hu
Hi Paul. I too watch mainly Sky Sports. Are you saying you cant add these to your playlists for full viewing later?
Also are you able to fast forward through say 2 hrs of a saved golf program??
@richardc3676 I had it on a trial a while ago, sent it straight back. I couldn't watch any on demand premier league, maybe it's changed.
Sorry I can't help u further.
Tried to go from sky q to stream but refuse to give out card details over the phone so cant switch also impossible to do online they tried to hard sell me sky glass which i dont want
Why not give card details?
I left sky never going back
Totally agree Steve, had Stream 18 month now and love it. PQ is superb, could be because Stream is 36 bit colour and Q is 24 bit.
I had Q from its release until I switched to Stream in October 2022, no way will I go back.
I connect WiFi all 4 pucks, use an ASUS ax 6000 router and it’s rock solid and like you have 1 gig FTTP. Look forward to your next review 👍
Very nice
I love my sky stream
What’s the picture quality of music channels? On Sky Q they are TERRIBLE
Sky Stream is like a lite version of Sky Q. Reduced functionality for the same price
I've been quoted £50 for sky stream + sports, phone, broadband and £70 for Sky Q identical package.
I love sky stream lots much better more quality better than Sky Q but sky stream more cheaper than sky q more expensive so that why I prefer sky stream better for me
Agree completely
Sky stream is all well and good unless you live in a crap broadband area. My mates got glass plus a puck and had full fibre and now new house has 26meg estimated. Sky recommend 25 for glass. Now my friend is adamant it will be fine were as i dont especially once the ps5 is on or the kids are youtubing. I get about 30 meg over 4g so we tethered the glass and it was barely working and dropped off of hd as soon as the ps5 was on it was basically knackered. I just dont see the point in this all singing and dancing tv when your probably not going to get reliable 1080 and 4k is just pissing in the wind. I personally would just stick with q i just wouldnt want the tv hogging bandwidth and because its skys own system how do you know if it stops using bandwidth when its in standby especially with the puck where it doesnt turn off with the tv.
I still can’t believe in 2024 we have such crap broadband in this country.
@@stevemarruk yeh crazy I've been lucky and independent has laid fibre outside mine not the cheapest but I can get gigabit. It's mad that income cases 4g is better. A friend of mine has just finally got fttc and he reckons his previous 4g was better 🤣
I kicked sky out never missed it and saving a fortune
I still prefer Sky q hands down it’s the recording aspect with wins my vote….
