While all other bands who claimed to love Motorhead, so they just did a cover of Ace Of Spades, Metallica go above and beyond with a tribute Lemmy would be proud of.
This song is heavily HEAVILY underrated. I found this just a few days ago. Had no idea they did a tribute to the one and only legend Lemmy. This is why I love Metallica. They do tributes and honor other bands/groups. The video is beautiful too, this song isn't just a song. It's a story which makes me love this song even more. The rhythm, the solo, the lyrics just mesh so well together. It's criminal how overlooked this song is
I mean being able to take the amount of drugs needed to kill 32 elephants, and the same amount in whiskey and cigarettes and not dying, and then living up to 70, beating the average of a rockstar being 27, Lemmy was a badass
For real, I don't think there's a more respected figure in all of music than Lemmy. No one ever had a bad thing to say about him (and if they did, it was more of a reflection on that person). He kept it real and stayed true to himself from the day he was born until the day he left this earth to get his seat back in heaven. Rock in Peace, Lem.
Lemmy had “Murder One” written on his bass amp. I love Metallica for this great tribute. RIP Lemmy. I loved Metallica from the start and Motörhead from the beginning. Somewhere Lemmy is raising a glass of Jack to this. I love this. Thanks Metallica. Motörhead were and still are my favourite band but Metallica come a very close second, seen them live many times. They, like Motörhead, put on a fucking good show, make you’re ears ring and just make you feel pure exhilaration. I was a speed freak like Lemmy was for many years “you’re in the snake pit baby, there’s a lot of it about”. This is so fucking good. Only Metallica are fit to memorialise Lemmy.
I was lucky enough to see Motorhead several times, starting at the old Town and Country in Kentish Town which later became the forum. Still THE loudest band I've ever heard, every time I saw them I'd be ears ringing for 7 to 10 days after. At the first one I bought that T Shirt that says "everything louder than everything else". It still holds true. Nobody was ever louder than Lemmy walking on stage, dragging his flattened hand across all the control knobs on his amp so everything was maxed out and just letting rip, usually followed by punching his bass at the end of the show and leaving it stood (pickups facing in) towards his cab for the most stomach churning feedback you ever heard. A wonderful showman to the end. A part of me thought he was unable to die you know, after the abuse that man had put his body through over the years you'd have thought he was immortal. When he went, the world was all wrong. It was bad enough when Philthy went. I'd like to say rest in peace but wherever that wonderful bunch are now, you can guarantee it stopped being peaceful about 12 seconds after they arrived.
I recently read the biography of Motörhead, and I love the fact that Lemmy practically forced it to succeed out of pure spite for his previous band. Lemmy was such an interesting person to read about.
Lemmy would be proud of this. Now he'll be rocking alongside Cliff, Dimebag, Randy Rhoads, Jeff Hanneman, Malcolm Young, among other legends. He'll be having one hell of a reunion with Wurzel and Philthy Taylor. Rock in peace Lemmy, and thank you for being an awesome rocking dude.
This one has a strong Motorhead vibe musically and the lyrics are about Lemmy's life which was full of rock n roll, chicks and booze. Oh don't forget the cigars. I love the fact that Metallica chose to honour him that way instead of a tearful ''r.i.p. , we are so sad you're gone'' song.
Nah...Lemmy would have been embarrassed by all the attention and would have called them pussies for doing this. Hahaha! He;s probably watching from whatever plane he's on right now having a good laugh at the video and all of us fanboys. I LOVE it! Not my favorite song from the album but it's by far my favorite video of the 13. RIP Lemmy!
My favorite part of this tribute is how it not only celebrates his life and chronicles his rise to become the greatest rock star to ever live through the visuals, but the lyrics sing of how his sound is still going strong through both recordings and inspiring new musicians. He may be gone, but his thunder will roll and echo for ages to come.

@@OctoomyYTOfficial This was a reference to Lemmy, he always said that for them they are playing just rock'n'roll - no matter what anybody calls their Music.
I never understood why this song it's hated, it's a kickass song in my opinion, it's definitely in my top 5 favorite songs from hardwired, this song it's a tribute to Lemmy cause Metallica love Motorhead and they loved Lemmy also.
JUST GOT OF PRISON A FEW DAYS AGE.HEREING ALOT OF THEIR NEW SONGSFOR THE FIRST TIME IS GREAT!!! METALLICA FAN FOR LIFE NO MATTER IF THEY STOP TOMRROW OR WHEN THEY ARE 90 YEARS OLD!!!!! TO THE BAND THANK YOU FOR KEEPING THE METAL RIFF ALIVE!!!!!!
By far, the best band to have ever walked this earth and always will be. Did Lemmy absolute justice with this song. Been their biggest fan since 1989. I remember hearing For Whom the Bell Tolls on 98 Rock, in Baltimore, when I was younger. It wasn't until ...And Justice For All and I had reached an age where I could have my own mind. I was 7 lol. But, they spoke directly to me. I remember the debut of One, on MTV. My parents were big into Black Sabbath and Rush, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, you name it, CCR, everything that was good about music. Somehow, my sister ended up listening to shit like, The New Kids on the Block and MC. Hammer and shit. I could get into some of that stuff but it didn't have the same effect as Metallica did, on myself. I was all about Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, all of it. Sorry, I wrote so much but, with the passing of Chris Cornell a few days ago, I felt a little need to share. Metallica and their family are my idols. RIP Cliff, Kurt, Chris, Lemmy, Prince, Jimi, Janice, Layne, Peter, it goes on.... You all got me this far in life and I thank every single one of you. Thank you, sincerely.
I watched this on two hits of top acid. Good lord, when the main riff kicked in for the first time it melted my mind. One of the best Metallica songs in years.
Bit of an unpopular opinion here, but this is actually my favorite album and I've been a Metallica fan for a decade, I've listened to every album and every song there is with a few exceptions on the Garage Inc. album. Something about James' vocals, the guitar tone, the riffs, the harmonies... I fucking love this album, this, Halo on Fire and Spit out the Bone are one of the best songs I've heard in my life.
Chris Andreev the tone is good??? I feel bad for you! (In all honesty the tone isn't too bad, but the best tone of all time is definitely Puppets and Justice. Greatest mixes ever)
McTwish You feel bad for me because I don't share your opinion? Lol. I'm in no way saying the older albums have a worse guitar tone, I'm just saying this one is more to my liking. I fucking love all the albums, so don't get your panties all twisted up.
probably one of the most unique metallica videos in ages.
This is my favorite music video of all time, its unique, the solo is badass, and it's about an idol to Metallica

Tanay Prajapati That made me laugh 😂 🤣 thanks dude
@@gatodestructo4933 ozzy is more of trying to be edgy in my opnion lemmy is more of a stone cold badass
He'll be like: On your knees dog
Satan: You're in my seat, mortal...
Lemmy: On yer knees or shove it, dog.

The Cat In The Hat Gar Samuelson
It's been a year now.. and losing my hero still hurts. Lemmy was a true rock god. I don't think he ever realized how much he would be missed. There will be no others like him ever.
Very underrated song. The solo in this is so good
When you realize even the animation of Lemmy is more metal than you :D R.I.P Lemmy
Man everything that has to do with God is more metal than anything. Lemmy is God ❤️
ΣΛΕΗΕΡ ΑΠΟ ΒΟΛΟ he is not god but he will always be remembered
@@george_skat3r_420 lol just because he isn't god doesn't mean we forget him

Lemmy was LITERALLY metal jesus.
1:10-1:16 they played bits of that in 2016 san francisco show
Really? I need to see that
I knew I heard this somewhere. I was just looking for this riff on And Justice For All ;)
Yeah they did
it seems that you don't have a brain if you are not capable to find it yourself
the world will never see another one like LEMMY!!!!
This song kicks ass
Almost a year and I still miss Lemmy, one of my all time heroes
Best Lemmy tribute I've seen.
Best METALLICA!! I've heard in years!!!!
Not only Lemmy wasn’t able to see but the fact that Metallica didn’t even preform it, should they have preformed this masterpiece live 😢
Great tribute. And, GREAT solo.
LongRifles& LongCut
Born to loose, Live to win. RIP LEMMY
LR LongCut I hope this is sarcasm cause the solo is horrible man
I loved the solo too, really fits the song, and it's not sarcasm. People doesn't give Kirk a break.
I loved the solo too, really fits the song, and it's not sarcasm. People doesn't give Kirk a break.
Yeah, the solo is really good. I would dare to say it's one of his best ones in the recent years. Pure feeling and power on those bends... 4:27 >:)
The intro remind me of Fade to Black :')
Samuele agree
Welcome Home Sanitarium plz
It reminded me of Fade to Black as well as One.
Sounds waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more like the intro to Sanitarium.
travistotle It doesn't sound nothing like Fade to black, the guitar tone is similar to One, but the melody is sucked from Sanitarium.
METALLICA ANIMATED = MIND BLOWN
LEMMY ANIMATED = MIND BLOWN
I still can't get enough of that chorus riff. So heavy
It can't get more rock'n' roll than this.
Chomiqu this is metal. Hint metal is heavier then rock.
@@OctoomyYTOfficial This was a reference to Lemmy, he always said that for them they are playing just rock'n'roll - no matter what anybody calls their Music.
Proud of MetallicA for doing this video. The animation style is perfect. ♠️

I don’t get it why Metallica doesn’t play this live. Absolutely mental song.
Ikr
They could play this live every year on the anniversary of lemmys death as a tribute
I never understood why this song it's hated, it's a kickass song in my opinion, it's definitely in my top 5 favorite songs from hardwired, this song it's a tribute to Lemmy cause Metallica love Motorhead and they loved Lemmy also.
Well the video takes cheap shots against Hawkwind as if they were the "worst band". That's why
I love Lemmy and I'm a Hawkwind fan too.

This is one of the best Metallica albums
RIP Lemmy, my rock 'n' roll father
Hey guys, seriously, whats going on with Metallica today?
You dont release an album in 8 years but you give us 7 songs in one day???? Not bad...
New album releases tomorrow.
sneakp07 it's basically already released , they suck at releases
sneakp07 Of course I know men
Good good :D They released all the videos last night, 2 of them are still unlisted. Spit Out the Bone and Lords of Summer.
They are learning from their mistakes
Metal Militia beatles was the best because they sold over 600 million albums
bless ya brother the music lives on
98 rock bro! Kirk mark and Lopez
You forgot Dimebag
best band ever is maiden
I watched this on two hits of top acid. Good lord, when the main riff kicked in for the first time it melted my mind. One of the best Metallica songs in years.
Yeah its badass
Chris Andreev Not my favorite but I can't really blame you. This is a damn good album.
I think puppets is their best, but I m glad they came with this. Is a very good damn album and probably in their top 3/5 albums
Ferra T this was really good but RIDE THE LIGHTNING #1 \m/
