Full credit to both sides, the amount of pressure and heat throughout this game was enormous. The Giants threw everything at the Pies for 4 quarters but the pies defence was able to withstand the pressure. Congrats Pies fans and good luck next week.

@@andrewrogers5962 Fair point, however though given how the Pies have played in the finals, they have only won by 7 in Week 1 and by 1 this week. Depending on the result today as well as both the blues and lions have beaten the pies in their most recent matchups, anything is possible for next week (I could say the same for the blues too though).

I've gone deaf through the sound of my screen!! 😩😩😩That noise when the final siren went off. As Danger said, the roof of the roofless stadium exploded. What a game. So nail-biting. GWS were so close, but I think Pies were cleaner with the ball when it mattered. De Goey was outstanding. How many tackles did he break out of? It was a brilliant match. I got chills when the teams lined up and they showed scenes of the crowd. Unbelievable. Well done to the Pies. Also love the sportsmanship after the game 👏🏻👏🏻

Regardless of what you think of them (and I assume that most of you hate Collingwood) you can't pretend they haven't been the most exciting team to watch these past two years. Win or loss.

As a neutral observer it was dreadful umpiring. The amount of guys who got no free for blatant high tackles was crazy. Great game
There were some "non-decisions" but no more than most games, the umpires should do that more often.
It was very refreshing that the umpires threw away the whistle for petty, over analytical 50/50 decisions, just let the players play, it's a massive reason why it was a great game.
There was only 12 frees for each team, anything under 25 frees combined is the perfect amount, overwise the umpires get too much control and make it a frustrating game to watch imo.

@@off1k it was clearly biased in the last quarter as the crowd influenced the umpires. Happens interstate the other way, particularly in Adelaide.

What a rigged game of the year!! The AFL are the worst and make it so, so obvious. Dumb arses.
Still feel that R19 Port versus Collingwood was the most exciting game. So many lead changes.
It would have been interesting to see if Collingwood could win without help
@@HorizonOfHope definitely a contender.. I’d say it was probably the best H&A game. In terms of intensity, pressure and just the sheer weight of the game I feel this was the most exciting for me personally as a neutral supporter. So many great games this year tho what an exciting season of afl.
Forget the umpiring and concentrate on the kicking. The Giants were 17 points up half way through the 3rd quarter and coming out of defence, I can't recall who it was now, but a sloppy kick finished up quite easily with Maynard who put the ball back into Collingwood's forward area for a goal by Hill followed quickly by another.
What could have been close to a 4 goal lead was within a couple of minutes less than a goal.
GWS had the momentum and Collingwood chasing and these 2 goals got them back into their game plan.
A 4 goal break at the end of the 3rd quarter may have just been enough to start the final quarter with confidence in their abilities to get the game won.
I know it's just a single kick but such a crucial turnover when the opportunity was there to possibly make a 4 goal lead.
A great game and GWS is certainly a team in the premiership window.

Really great game of football, both sides showed why they were in a prelim with strong defence work and attacking intent. Collingwood got the win (deservedly) and even though the Giants lost, they were 16th to a point for a grand final berth. Well done to both teams!

I am A Pie supporter. I have watched this final with gws a few times, and truly, this win was not just good management
, it was luck, though GWS didn’t have enough composure. I am confident they will finish 1 or 2 in 2024. Josh D aerobic capacity to get that ball and evade a tackle win us this match. He passed it to Will HE and he strongly marked it. Will HE is a favourite of mine. It was a very very strong mark
The backline of gws is a bit brittle, but improving

@@Zeal.08 Not really, I can remember about 3 or 4 missed frees for Collingwood. One of them being a high tackle on Darcy Moore. A few missed holding the ball frees after the GWS player threw the ball.

Nope watch the final 2 mins again. They sometimes fumble or a player will take possession a moment before being tackled. Sidebottom and Pendles are masters at it. This is why they win so many close ones

So next they got Carlton/Brisbane to worry about, having going on longer without a cup (give or take over 20 years plus).

Since Port started to stumble it has felt that a Magpies versus Lions rematch has been inevitable. As good as Carlton are, and I'm not dissing them, just being honest: Brisbane's forward line is just too good. Add in the Gabba, where they've lost once in two years and I think they have this. They'll probably enter the game favourites, too, you'd think. Beaten the Pies twice already this year.

It was a great game and both sides played extremely well, but GWS were robbed of a scoring opportunity when Toby Greene was caught around the neck by Daicos. It clearly should have been a free kick to Greene. A rule has to be made in the future that if any umpire doesn't call out a free kick in a game when it's there should have their Matchpay docked. It's not a fair system when free kick decisions that should have been called out aren't.
Toby Greene intentionally ducked into it in an attempt to draw a free kick à la Joel Selwood. They rightfully let it go.
@@rhysh2639 He hardly ducked at all. They were saying on the footy show that is a free kick to Greene every day of the week. Other people I know who aren't Giants supporters said that was a free kick to Greene. Greene had his knees slightly lowered as Daicos tackled him around the neck but no way was that a duck and I don't even follow the Giants

Most people are saying it was a free kick simply because they're biased against Collingwood. Had it have been Jack Ginnivan, not a single word would've been said.
There was a high tackle on Darcy Moore....not a mention from anybody. Mason Cox got taken from the ground over a torn jumper, again not a mention from anybody....yet Deven Robertson from Brisbane was allowed to stay on the field when he had his jumper torn. The new jumpers are meant to be brought onto the field and given to the players.
There were also a few instances where GWS players were tackled and disposed of the ball incorrectly....yet no free kicks were given.
The umpires missed frees from both sides...but people only want to focus on the GWS missed frees because of the anti-Collingwood bias.
At the end of the day, footy isn't perfect and it's not meant to be. There are good calls, bad calls and missed calls, that's just the nature of footy. The game has been like this for decades.
If they tried to make the game too perfect, there would be absolutely no flow to the game and it would be boring to watch.

Ripped off for most of this game after the first qtr with shoddy umpiring. The ones NOT paid against the Pies were disgraceful. GWS should've won by about 15-17pts.
