    One day, I was walking to the liquor store to buy cigarettes, my wife just told me that she was pregnant and I didn't know how to be a Dad, I lost mine due lung cancer when I was 8, yes he smoked, that day I didn't choose to quit, I choose to challenge myself to see how long I can make a pack of cigarettes last... That day I had only one cigarette, that was the last cigarette I ever had, my son just celebrated his 11 year... And he still has a dad... 😊

    10 yrs of my drinking and 3 yrs of chain smoking habit is now under control. I still can have a drink or two without hurting me much. I still can go with a packet of cigarettes a day or even none. I don't get the cravings anymore but i can take it whenever i want under full control but i don't do it anymore. I also started going to gym, reduced my sugar cravings and learned to eat healthy foods.
    I believe once u start caring for urself and get disciplined, u start to see the opportunities and other good things around u. I still haven't achieved anything big with my career, don't have a partner or a family and I'm all by myself through these years but i believe it will happen soon because i feel stronger than before

    Eating until we're full is what we usually do, but eating until we are satiated (no longer hungry) is better. Eating beyond fullness is gluttony.

    • @jambo_jackbelly
      @jambo_jackbelly 8 месяцев назад +11

      In my experience, the feeling of being full isn't necessarily the best indicator of when to stop eating.
      A measured approach based on the size of the meal and its nutrition content is usually the best approach.
      Eat a balanced meal that is healthy and the correct amount of calories and you may still feel very hungry and unfulfilled, but if you stop and resist the urge for more food. In 10-15 minutes you will stop feeling hungry and feel full.

      The right thing is to eat till you feel about 80 % full. We can’t measure how full we are but the thing is to eat and stop at the point when you feel you are about to get full or satisfied.

    I lack a lot of things i see in these self help videos. But i have persistence and have been so lucky that I have been waking up to try again. It's so amazing that within 24 hours we get to try again and try something different or do the same thing better. I haven't counted all the years and days where i have failed, those were time learning. Sure, maybe i need more classes than others. But I will keep repeating the process and find something that clicks. i know that is the formula to succees. Nothing else matters. When that day arrives i will go back to the video that resonated with me and leave a comment

    Self discipline is key,you don't stop bad habits because of someone else,you stop them for you,I used to drink myself off and get home very late drunk and wasted,one day I said to myself,'enough',I've never touched the bottle since then and I have accomplished so much,we are stronger than we know,just find yourself

    I agree with Seneca’s sentiments, but the issue with his 3 days “hardship” was he had the comfort of returning to his riches at any moment. The poor and misfortunate don’t have the same ability and this is where suffering begins. People can’t even begin to fathom a life of comfort because they have never seen, felt and generally experienced it.

    Hey There!!,Thanks for sharing these powerful Stoic lessons! 🙌 Discipline truly is the key to success. Learning to say no to immediate pleasures for long-term gains is a game-changer. Seneca's idea of seeking discomfort for growth resonated with me. It's amazing how embracing challenges builds resilience. Quitting bad habits, like Eisenhower did with smoking, shows the strength of the mind over the body. Kato and Ruben Carter's minimalist approach is a refreshing perspective in our consumer-driven world. Octavian's journey teaches us the value of disciplined pacing. And, of course, silence is strength - a timely reminder in our noisy world. 🤫 Thanks again for the wisdom! 🌟
