- I figured I'd show you guys what Making Science looked like, straight out of rendering from Source Filmmaker, and then with my added tweaks. Eyeless GLaDOS and screens of green; some subtle alterations and some...not so subtle alterations. ;)

'Making Science', a Portal parody of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas's 'Making Christmas' by Tim Burton and Danny Elfman.
It took a lot longer to finish this than I'd hoped! In total, I'd say I spent about 2 months working on it, with university and life in between. The video kept changing during production as I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it. Hopefully you enjoy it and it was worth the weight. ;)

It would've been cool to have that animated when looking at your character through a portal
I just made a transparent 'glow' spot and animated / tracked the eyes. I also changed the blend mode to give it the right look.

I find GLaDOS 100 times creepier without the look of an eye then normal

I've never tried Cinema, I started with Max and have always used it. They're both as good as each other I guess. ;)

Did you have a stroke or did you drop out of pre-school?
Your coloring and addition of lens flare really changes the whole feel of the video. They make the already decent graphics look WAY better because they come off as so angelic with the glows. Well done, I very much enjoyed this comparison.
Without the lighting it still looks incredible also that voice acting is just perfect
"Before" seems to be more realistic because it has no filter, but it has missing stuff...

Wow animating is so hard
This proves our buddy Harry puts a lot of effort into his videos to make them look crisp and refined. Just look at all those lighting effects. Good luck trying to find anyone else who pours that much effort into these vids.

It's surprising how better it looks with the effects
I used a collection of plugins; Magic Bullet Looks , Magic Bullet Mojo, Frischluft Out Of Focus, Reelsmart Motion-Blur and CoPilot Optical Flares. Mostly. ;)
Hey fact core what if the cake came to life and tried to take glados' place as the one who runs the facility and killed chell that would be ironic

The before images certainly look darker and more ominous, but the after images just have that awesomeness in them.
Wow, that's quite a difference. Were all of the post-processing effects done using After Effects?

The best part is, Harry could of easily given us an unedited version and I would of still liked this video, but *NOPE* he just has to give us real quality no matter what. And I love that.
Animation is mostly done in Valve's Source Filmmaker (a few exceptions where I use 3DS MAX, such as Wheatley in space). Editing, I use Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects CS6, to put it all together and make it look snazzy.
mhhh now i can actually see how much work it is. Great work ^^
oh boy. a cover to a song from my all-time favorite movie....with one of my favorite games....I love it
I reskinned the original Zoey model (painted her clothes orange and changed the texture, added Aperture logos, completely redrew her shoes to Aperture boots, etc)
The model for that part (the wakeup) doesn't have any eye at all (Valve used a crappy little particle effect in the game) so I just added it in post. =P

I LOVE the Zoey model you made for Chell, 'cause for me being a HUGE fan of both Portal and Left 4 Dead, it just makes me geek and say she looks badass. So nice work ^_^

For some reason, on the day of rendering (close to release) the bomb model disappeared and I didn't have time to reimport it. The sphere was the quickest way. =P

Its amazing how you make such fantastic stuff, Harry. I love watching your Portal videos, they're inspiring. I'm about to get into the field of animation and game design pretty soon, can you pass on any animation advice and tips to a rookie?
I've used 3Ds max too! It can be challenging but you really are good at it! You've done it once again Harry!

I said it the first time I ever used it (Portal 2 - The Wakeup - description). I use Zoey because the Portal 2 Chell model has a very bad animation rig and no facial animation tools.
just by watching harry's videos you can tell this is like the minimum of his possibiltys and talents

A decent one for a reasonable price is an Audio Technica AT2020 - I have one and it's great! Though I have the XLR version, so I can't comment on the USB one. I doubt the difference is that big though. ;)
The part where Atlas fell when running away from the turrets was a little awkward, but the rest of the video was awesome!

Cameras / Projected Images are possible (with some hacking and custom scripts) but doing it this way was quicker and easier for me. ;)

Glados almost look firendly without the yellow eye
Major things missing in before when GLaDOS wakes,her eye doesn't light up,when the cube goes on the button,it doesn't light up nothing on the t.v screen and no space background also before the lighting wasn't near to the after,looked at top screen whole time
Most of the lighting, along with the background, were all effects added later.
GLaDOS's eye didn't light up, since it is a separate entity from her.
