With the longer Bluetooth range of the chipolo one spot, can you test in your house if it connects and shows the distance sooner than the airtag? With walls and obstacles I’m curious if they act the same or if the chipolo can pick up and lock on a connection quicker than the airtag without perfect line of sight.
Chipolo does not have UWB so it won’t tell you the distance. It will tell you if it’s ringing or not when you ring to find so you know if it connected or not. It’s not 100% accurate but I do find it 90% accurate in my distance test videos. Yes the indoor distance (in my house) is a lot better on the Chipolo Spot than the AirTag. The Airtag has the UWB so that might be useful in noisy areas of if your hearing impaired.
@@ModernDayTech Oh I see, so on the chipolo one spot when you press on “Directions” in the Find My app it just shows you a map of your location and the chipolo location. Then it’s just a matter of walking to it using the map and keep ringing it? I really like the distance in feet count down in the bottom left corner when pressing “Find” with the airtag even though it doesn’t even appear until I’m about 30 feet away from it.
Honestly the additional range isn't always good. If you can't hear the tracker, then they're completely useless. I've left an item in my car, in the garage. I knew it was somewhere in the house, since that was the last location, and I was connected to it. No matter where in the house I went, I couldn't hear it, and the tracker stayed connected.
But now you know, and knowing is half the battle. You'll now know where to look next time. Without the additional range, you wouldn't haven't even known it was somewhere in your house, including your garage.
@@robertmiller7849 I didn't know it was in my garage. I had to look around the whole house. Since that's all I knew. I'm trying to say that range isn't everything. Yes, range will narrow it down to a haystack the size of your range. But having less range means a smaller haystack.
? Tracker apps should state how far away something is. So you go in one direction and see if the signal gets stronger or weaker. The key here is how fast they respond. I just tried a Nut mini but it responds quite slow. I haven't tried any other trackers yet. Maybe it's my phone.

Both the Apple AirTag and a Chipolo One Spot work exclusively with Apple’s Find My. No android. You can use an original Chipolo One (not Spot) or Tile with android.
From your description I have the original model of the Chipolo. I recently just my battery. I did notice that it stopped ringing. I had to look up a video on how to fix this.?It’s a bit of shame that piezo speaker tabs 🔈 gets misaligned on it or they bend too far down to make contact. I like the double squeeze feature to find my phone. I guess the squeezing feature puts a strain on the tabs to piezo speaker. The original version isn’t too loud. I was thinking of getting more now one for my wallet and an extra tab for something else. I overall love the Chipolo ecosystem but it’s a shame the new versions have lost the features you mentioned. I hope they come back with other revisions of their products because I’d like to continue using them.
Eric I have an Airtag for my keys and a Chipolo Card for my wallet. Sure the Chipolo One Spot gains the 'Find My Network' which is huge but in the process gives up some features the biggest being the 'Out of Range Alerts'... that's a hard tradeoff. I'm thinking going forward until we see if Apple adds more features having both an Airtag & a regular Chipolo One on my key chain probably is the way to go.Once you've experienced using 'Out of Range Alerts that's really hard to give up.
I hope we get both. I think sharing will be first cause it will be the easiest for Apple. Personally I use out range a few times a month so I really need that. I forget everything. 19:50 Neither has Out of Range notification?!?! Then what use are they? It's nice to have crowdsourcing to find your lost item but way better if you never lose it! (because you were quickly notified that it was out of range and go back for it, while you remember where it is. Wasn't this the very first use case for trackers?!
I found "Out of Range notification" to be a kind of a pain because some trackers I did not want to take with my phone. I think Apple recognized this with their users and that is why the Apple Air Tag sort of) does not have general out-of-range notification..but instead of eliminating it completely, Apple made it smart. Like, for example, if you left the tags at home, it would not notify you. But if you left the air tag somewhere other than like home or work.. It would send you a notification that you have left an air tag. I think it also figures out which air tags usually travel with the phone and which don't. I think Apple has refined settings for each air tag as well, but I have not gotten into doing any modifications of that yet.
@@manp1039 Yes, most platforms/communities/apps have a custom settings for safe zones for each tracker for some time now. In the old days it was a pain but it is much better now.
