I am always overjoyed when I see another video pop on this channel. Honestly just want to say when it comes to what is the current gaming channels this is as good as it gets. Never bringing the serious stuff from the world or grandstanding like a lot of other review channels and such. These videos are like escapism and always feel nostalgic for some reason. The way I wanna feel when I play a game. Love what you do Austin, the content is great……when we get it. Lol Thanks!
Nice video. I've had this game looming on the back of my head since I was a young boy because of the title and, well, modestly dressed girls. I would always see the cover of one of these games on the local game shop (I honestly don't know which oneechanbara it was), then I'd stare at it for a few seconds and just move on to buy other games just because I know I'd be questioned by my super religious parents if I ever play this.
Such a good video that really describes the experience of Oneechanbara. I accidentally stumbled across the series after playing SGZH and finding out they shared a universe so I bought Z2 Chaos off ebay and was absolutely hooked. If you want a silly game that you just don’t take seriously and is mindless fun it’s worth it.
I hate how we have to resort to calling actual good games "guilty pleasures" because it shows some titty. Liking to look at beautiful women now makes us "degenerate" man the world we live in sure is a circus XD In reality we need more games like this that feel like they were made by some studio that had fun making what they wanted to make. Maybe eventually the industry will see the grand return of fun games like this as soon as we stop prematurely judging people off of the games they play. Cheers have fun with the fun games.
It's main appeal being sexy women is one of the reason I checked it out. I was surprised to see it added to PS+ Extra considering how much of a pussy Sony has become lately. So I had to support the addition by downloading and playing it to completion.
I know I'm definitely in the minority here, but I thought the more "anime" style of Origin was a bit of a step backwards. Like I definitely appreciated more detail being put into the design, but what I personally loved about this series was that it had this over the top wacky anime feel with a more "realistic" art style that was a lot more of a fun juxtaposition in my eyes. But yeah, definitely a fun look at the franchise from start to finish. Great job, dude!
I actually picked up that Oneechanbara game after your video. I think there was 2 levels in a row where I was just in a big graphics placeholder pit and I stopped there lol
Always liked the Simple series because you knew you were getting something interesting even if the quality varies wildly. Still have amazing memories of playing hours of Earth Defense Force on 360 in college and trading off the controllers between the 5 of us.
I'm both super happy that you made a game about the Onechanbara series and also mad that I didn't make a video about it first. I've been collecting these, and various Simple Series games, for years and they're still prizes in my collection. It would have been cool to play them all and do a deep dive on them. But thanks for saving me the time. Still glad I have them.
If they just got a decent level designer, some better boss designs, and add some meta-game elements that work to flesh out the RPG leveling mechanics they could really have something more than just a Cult game. The gameplay is already there with Z2 and Origin and the Cool Combo system really is its own reward for gameplay that just keeps giving. If they could keep pushing it into a more Ninja Gaiden territory with the level design, there is definitely somewhere to go with this series especially since Ninja Gaiden has steadily moved away from the old X-box title's exploration and platforming.
You know, I actually love Aya's outfit. I mean, the game was built with it in mind, but she's cool in every single move. And she makes it look amazing, as in posing and general movement. Different when you make a cool female character and then force the design to be the generic "kya" bullshit the weebs are permanently craving, which I absolutely hate.
@@DianaTaffie Uh, sorry, but wtf are you talking about? The game was developed by MEN, and MEN decided to do her like that, just like how Bayonetta isn't any empowerment symbol because she's just the fantasy of some nasty dude bro that thought sexualisation was "badass".
I can't believe this video was made after about a week of me buying origin. Admittedly, I was thinking of Matt's video from almost a year ago when I decided to buy it. Way more fun than I expected. Even if the parry timing feels like ass.
I think you get a more forgiving parry window if you're in the middle of a cool combo. I don't have any data for this, but it *felt* easier to parry when I was in the middle of a cool combo compared to just standing there.
Now you need to cover Tamsoft's other great Franchise which is Senran Kagura, another game full of fanservice but with a great story and great characters
Didn't even read the title in full and but was 100% sure Matt was gonna be in this. Also holy shit, this franchise is 17 years old? This can't be true, time doesn't pass.
I love the cool combo mechanics. It rewards you for pressing buttons with precisions rather than mashing it mindlessly. I wish more hack and slash games have similar mechanics. I platinumed kagura Z1 on ps3 and Z2 on ps4
I've only watched 36 seconds of this video so far because I had to go buy digimon racing on ebay IMMEDIATELY. Thank you for bringing it's existence to my attention, I'll continue the video now

It's been a long while now but I recall Liam and Matt playing Oneechanbara Z for Creepy Anime Bullshit and Liam was like "Yeah, I like these games, they're pretty cool." whilst Matt screamed "OH GOD, CREEPY ANIME BULLSHIT, MAKE IT STOP!!!"

Ahhh can’t believe you all mentioned the Trails series and showed Kuro footage xD nice
Definitely gonna watch this later after work ends. Great to see you're doing a collab with Matt.
Yeah, I think Austin has done another video or two with him in the past too.
Yay!
Austin, I have that shirt. Good taste my man.
Finally, a video for me, a man who enjoys objectively bad hack'n'slash games.
Don't insult my bikini samurai squad. I have fun with corny titles.
Definitely a sequel is needed for Z2 Chaos.
Still coming back to watch this over a year later. One of my favorite videos on RUclips
I totally getting into this games, I love the low budget grind house look of them
I actually picked up that Oneechanbara game after your video.
I think there was 2 levels in a row where I was just in a big graphics placeholder pit and I stopped there lol
Oneechanbara is a masterpiece
Always liked the Simple series because you knew you were getting something interesting even if the quality varies wildly. Still have amazing memories of playing hours of Earth Defense Force on 360 in college and trading off the controllers between the 5 of us.
I'm both super happy that you made a game about the Onechanbara series and also mad that I didn't make a video about it first. I've been collecting these, and various Simple Series games, for years and they're still prizes in my collection. It would have been cool to play them all and do a deep dive on them. But thanks for saving me the time. Still glad I have them.
Today I started binging your content again. So happy to see a new video. I'm more of an EDF fan but onechambara seems to be somewhat fun.
You sold me on Oneechanbara Origins! I'll buy it as soon as it goes on sale.
This game crawled so lollipop chainsaw could fly
I remember playing the arcade version of Oneechanbara Z in Japan, and being astounded that a 3D beat-em-up could be put on a cabinet.
OMG YESS childhood memories Zombie Hunters on the ps2 was the shit!!
D3 Publishers is the modern day LJN.
Because Aya is the girlboss. It's her choice and she owns it.
Everyone has different tastes. What sells is what sells
@@DianaTaffie just like Bayonetta. She knows she's sexy, and that influenced her playful and flirtatious personality.
@@luizy6701 bro bayonetta was designed by a woman
"I wish I had skills." Hahaha! You're killing me with laughter.
The cool thing about Kusoge is that at least they are honest with themselves, their audience and each other.
The only reason I had even heard of this game, was because Gametrailers said this was one of the bloodiest games ever made
Ayo where can I get my hands on Demolition Girl though
Funny enough how Oneechanbara was made by the same people who made Senran Kagura (Marvelous) and Neptunia (Tamsoft)
Thank you for making this Video, I forgot all about this series and I'm totally checking out Origin now!
Now you need to cover Tamsoft's other great Franchise which is Senran Kagura, another game full of fanservice but with a great story and great characters
Despite the video's title, you still baited me by lingering on EDF when describing what series the video was about before the Oneechanbara smash cut.
So this is where they get the inspiration for fgo summer Miyamoto Musashi...
The more you know.
"this is oddly appropriate" 😂😂
My dad got me this game (the PS2 one) when I was 12, I saw and still see that as a win.
Lmfao
Didn't even read the title in full and but was 100% sure Matt was gonna be in this.
Also holy shit, this franchise is 17 years old? This can't be true, time doesn't pass.
My chakras have been realigned with the mention of "Herbo".
I know the feel man, OneeChanbara is one of those games that you know is kinda bad, but you keep coming to them over and over again lol
"I can't believe I've talked about the basically the same game 5 times"... Koei Tecmo would like to know your location
I love the cool combo mechanics. It rewards you for pressing buttons with precisions rather than mashing it mindlessly. I wish more hack and slash games have similar mechanics. I platinumed kagura Z1 on ps3 and Z2 on ps4
I just finished Z2 Chaos 2 weeks ago and loved it 😃🤘
I've only watched 36 seconds of this video so far because I had to go buy digimon racing on ebay IMMEDIATELY. Thank you for bringing it's existence to my attention, I'll continue the video now
So, the best titles are Onechanbara BZS, Z2 Chaos and Origin, right?
Update: I played Z2 Chaos and Origin, awesome games!!!
I saw Z2 JP on a shop a few months ago, hopefully it’s still there
Wait, aren't they forgetting that Liam was the Oneechanbara guy of the (former) group? It's been a long while now but I recall Liam and Matt playing Oneechanbara Z for Creepy Anime Bullshit and Liam was like "Yeah, I like these games, they're pretty cool." whilst Matt screamed "OH GOD, CREEPY ANIME BULLSHIT, MAKE IT STOP!!!"
oh lol I also picked up Z2 chaos on a complete lark and then was like "Yo, why is this kinda sick?"
oh hell yeah I was waiting for the point where you come to Z2 Chaos! I actualy played it and... it's actualy REALY fun
after seeing Origins... I think I need to look around and pick it up, I realy like the anime aestetics!
1:00 Dude, Power Shovel was amazing. I never thought something as simple as running a excavator could make for such a great pick up and play arcade game.
oh my god i forgot about the motorcycle sections in bikini squad, it's all coming back to me now
"I'm not being forced to make this video" is exactly what someone who was being forced to make this video would say.
Thanks for making this. It's a series I've always been very intrigued about but never felt the inclination to ever play.
Kusoge is the equivalent to movies that are so bad they're a pure joy to witness.
For literally 20 years I have had the game Battle Hunter locked away in a child hood memory. Able to see it, unable to recall what it was. A game I got from a store in Papua New Guinea unable to play on my PS1 as it wasnt chipped to play pirated games. It finally all makes sense why it was so hard to find what the fuck it was I had been playing
