He doesn’t have a Doctorate yet, he is enrolled in a Doctorate programme. But knowing Dimash , he won’t disappoint. He is the real deal. Definitely not an alien, but the hardest working most talented guy , and no not 8 octaves, but heading towards 7.
He doesn’t focus on his range,, (wisely because these things change as we age), he just wants to transport people to a better place when he sings. He’s adorable. He calls his fans his Dears because we are dear to him. I’m happy to be called a Dimash Dear.

The billionaire composer/pianist who came out of retirement mentioned by others in the comments here can be seen at the very end of this performance of Sinful Passion. He is Igor Krutoy, and is the bald headed guy in the white shirt who stands up to applaud at the end of the song. Only weeks after this performance, he was on stage with Dimash, playing the piano and arranging and composing songs for him. Together they are a fantastic combination.
Dimash's personality is also why dears, like me, love him.

Just when you think you know what he is capable of , he will prove you wrong. Dimash, Love Is Like A Dream, or even Across Endless Dimensions, a song in English performed for a movie soundtrack. He has 6 octaves from what I understand. After having followed him now for almost 4 years, he is a very humble person. I have never once heard him ever take credit for his talent. He thanks God, his parents, grandparents, teachers and fans for his success. If you want to see humble please watch this even if on your own. It is a fan cam of him performing a traditional Kazakh song at his sold out New York Barclays Center concert in Dec 2019. I was there. It was the most moving part of the night. He was so moved that he was signing a Kazakh song in New York and that fans were singing it with him. Maybe not accurately, but the effort was made. You will see how much it meant to him. This is a fantastic song performed by Dimash. The various ranges, his choice of where to use them and how he delivers each line is special. Not sure if you noticed how long that one breath was towards the end but it was quite long.
Then he humbly thanks the band.
Also, the gentleman standing up at the end in the audience is famous pianist, composer and producer Igor Krutoy. He was in semi retirement but came out to work specifically with Dimash. They are now the best of friends and there are many videos backstage showing how they get along so well. Like father and son. Some shows have jokingly called Igor Dimash’s pet. Igor take sit in stride and laughs along.
Please do Love is Like. a Dream. It’s my favorite and is so beautiful in my opinion.

I laugh whenever someone sees one or two performances and says, “I think I know what he’s capable of now.” Yes, he’s a true gentleman and humanitarian with a big heart. His voice is just the first step, what people makes so passionate following him is his gentle, kind and respectful personality on and off stage. He is adorably proud of his homeland and culture while showing great respect to other countries - in China he's called "imported little brother", he is deeply devoted to his family, grateful and kind to his fans with a soft spot for children, hard working and surprisingly thoughtful and mature for his age. He is truely an idol to look up to.

Loved your reaction. The man in the white shirt who stood is a man with whom you will become very familiear. His name is Igor Krutoy and he is Russia's most famous current composer. He came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash. He has written a lot of songs for Dimash and he often accompanies him personally on the piano. It's time for you to hear a song of his in English, so please do either Adagio or The Show Must Go On from The Singer 2017. You will also want to do all of the performances from the Singer (except Uptown Funk, his only subpar performance ever). Those would also include his best ballad, Autumn Strong, Daididau, and more.
He's the most humble, un-braggy guy ever and gets awkward with nervous laughter and all when someone mentions that he's great 😊 I think it's 'only' 6 octaves though (he doesn't like talking about his range, it's not important to him).
I had to look it up after this video because I got a bunch of conflicting comments on the exact range. It is in fact six and thats still absolutely incredible.

It IS a D8, having been verified by an app. Even though we fans (he calls us his "Dears" because we are dear to him, like his family) can tell you it's in his performance of a song he wrote while in his teens ("Unforgettable Day") it STILL will take you by surprise. We can practically guarantee it. This entire concert was EXTRA special to him, having been a sort of celebratory homecoming to his beloved Kazakhstan after breaking through with his appearances in the extremely competitive Chinese TV show "The Singer" earlier that year in 2017. 30,000 people were expected; estimates of 100,000--150,000 showed up, paralyzing the city. And--to top everything off--he's always said it wasn't even planned! LOL

A-Studio - the back up band he thanked - originated this song back in the 1990's. It won 114 awards in Russia. The keyboard player wrote it; the original lead singer died in 2015, it's said A-Studio asked Dimash to sing it. Some have said that the unusual melismas in the middle of the song are traditional mourning chants in Kazakhstan - inserted here by Dimash as an homage to the singer who died. Don't know if that's internet rumor or truth. (A-Studio is Kazakh, but based in Russia.)
At the end, he slides up octaves and comes down doing crazy runs (marathon actually up there in a very high vocal register) and all that in just one breath, for about 24 seconds. Mind blowing actually!!!

Dimash has been learning music since he was a little kid. He sings to your soul with the attributes of a master storyteller and you pretty much feel everything he sings. I reacted much like you did. I just had never heard anything like that before. He surrounds himself with quality people, world class musicians and is extremely humble for someone with angelic like talent. Some of his performances are nothing short of masterpieces. As several folks mentioned below, the gentleman in the white shirt giving Dimash a Standing-O at the end of the song is Igor Krutoy: a master composer, pianist, and music mogul (Forbes estimates his net worth at $13 Billion). He retired at age 60 in 2014, but came out of retirement in 2018 to compose songs for and accompany Dimash on the piano. You will see him playing for Dimash in many performances. Their lead singer had sadly passed, and so they asked Dimash to sing this song (rearranged for Dimash) ..... Qu'il chante en solo, en duo, en trio, avec des chorales, avec des enfants, c'est à chaque fois un voyage différent mais captivant. A la fin de la chanson, dans le public, l'homme à la chemise blanche qui lui fait une ovation debout est le grand compositeur Igor Krutoy qui, après l'avoir vu et entendu, est sorti de sa semi retraite pour lui créer et lui offrir des chansons que seul Dimash peut chanter, tellement leur construction est complexe et difficile.
