- Part 4 of the 6.0 LS swap into a 2011 Colorado 5-speed. In this one I show the process of removing the old motor and swapping in the new LY6. I also cover the FABbot adapter and clutch kit for the AR5 transmission.

Good information so far. Waiting to see the wiring harness go in. I have a donor 5.3l 4x4 Colorado that needs a new home for it's drive train. Prices right now are crazy.
Dream build right here! Can't get enough of these videos, awesome work! I will be following this when it's my turn someday haha!
Following along..diligently 👍
Clean M3!! Love the color on that gem.
Vortec 5:7 L31 K1500 donor 350 is getting mocked. Colorado motor mounts are within the upper control arm but not equal as the Colorado 355 steering shaft shifts the mounting positions offset. Waiting on some 1/4 steel plates to use the clam shell motor mounts which pushes the 350 forward of the sway bar with harmonic balancer giving the distributor clearance as well.

I appreciate all your content and all the little details you have provided during your swap. I just bought a low mile Colorado Xtreme that is in mint condition. My plan, down the road, is to do a swap similar to your project. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks for the support! Let me know if you have questions once you start your swap.

Wow!
Haha I’m in the Nashville area doing the same swap, although going gen 3
Nice! Hope everything is going well for you. I’m pretty close to a first burnout!
Do you have a link to the kit for the trans to bolt up to the motor?
were you able to use the original transmission? didn't you have to make any modifications to join the transmission with the LS?
The bleeder line is on the wrong side
Following the series and hoping you would be willing to answer a question. I’m doing an 08 LS and manual transmission swap. I have a 08 clutch pedal but unsure where it connects. Body harness or Engine harness?
Honestly not sure.. I would assume body harness though
Did you have to do anything to the firewall to get the motor in?
Nothing to the firewall. The CP mounts are adjustable and I have the motor fully back in the mounts with over 1” between the motor and firewall. Fits like it was meant to be there!
What engine mounts did you use?
Current performance
Sorry, what header are you using?
I cover them in one of the videos. They are off EBay
What tire size are you running I just picked up some 18x9 rpt1 wheels
255/45/18
thanks
Are you using an aftermarket oil pan?
Using the pan from the van LY6. It hangs a bit low but works fine for now.
@Fixed On Cars I have a lq4 that dropped off my cherry picker b4 I could mount it to the stand, and it cracked my pan. Do you know if any other cheap or factory pans work without the hang down?
Check out Tommfyeah’s video series. He swaps over to an aftermarket pan that both doesn’t hang and clears the front subframe. Not sure how much it costs though
How has this transmission held up behind a 6 liter???
Fine, but I admittedly haven't beat the sh*t out of it in order to save the trans. I've heard they can handle ~600 whp or so.
The Aisin AR5 is a great transmission used by Grassroots and FaBbot 2j and LS based for under 400hp and 6k rpm. In factory application the 355 Colorado’s 6.3k factory redline is too much and eats synchros etc. throw on a performance clutch and things worsen. Currently on my 13th!!!! I’m probably why they are pricey!!! The rears as well as G80 lockers and the AAM are no match for high rpm like lsd etc.
Yapping till part 4 is crazy💀
My series is meant to be a detailed how-to… not sure how you do that without “yapping”!
