I really like his analogies. It's cool to see how non drummers think of drummers. I'm a drummer and very often I get caught up in technicalities, i.e. speed and complexity of rhythms, but I feel like once you reach a certain point, you start to sound like every other drummer who is as fast as you and knows just as much and then I think "what's the point?". It's not art anymore. I feel like Les' analogies are really what musicianship is all about.

Yes...an interesting comment. While being extremely dark etc LC is a very humble man: that's very represented in his comments about being a good father - what really matters to him!!! Tim, Jay, and Brain all bring different things to the table with Primus. As it so happens I love Sailing The Seas of Cheese, I love Brown Album, and I love Green Naugahyde. Jay does that hop, Tim is lumbering, and Brain does that almost bass drum stutter that John Bonham did in Led Zeppelin. They all sounded great under the Primus moniker and I don't consider any of them to be definitive or quintessential or whatever.

It's probably better. Les stayed in Northern California. Maynard is trying to make a good merlot in Arizona. I ordered a bottle, and it was good-not great. But you have to give him credit. Haven't sampled a Les Claypool wine yet, but my Uncle lived in St. Helena CA and made a most excellent merlot in 1999-2000. Wine is like individual taste in music, though. Would a tour including both drummers be too much to ask?

Such a cool, fun loving, artistic, down to earth individual with an incredible talent. I'm just now discovering Primus even though i too have been on the planet for a long time. It's confusing for me. As a bassist I really admire and respect the talent. The music and videos have an entertaining quality. I want to love this band, but the songs are not doing it for me. Wynona's BBB does have an awesome groove.

All three drummers are part of the sensational band, I would say I like Herb the best , but some of my favorite drum tracks were written by Jay Brain has outstanding tracks an attributes . What a great dilemma to have for Les and Larry. Sit around an bitch about which of 3 Pro Bowl drummers is best!

Why didn't he talk about Brian Mantia?

What's truly great about Brain is what he DOESN'T play. In other words the space he provided in the songs. He let them breathe more. Tim is more the sound of primus as they came up together, but i have always loved Brain as a replacement.
