This one is big and bold. And I really ignored a lot of the instructions and put it together my own way, as I do. But it is sure something!

My second post…I love it! I’ve made this dress several times and now at want to make it in white. My ultimate fit and flare. The very first one, I struggled with the faux wrap so I wear a matching shell. The last one I made, I made very well, well enough that I should go back and fix the first one…lol. You look stunning and will be a beautiful mother of the bride. I like the bottom as a skirt as well. I’m a maxi girl and this works for me on all levels. I love what you did with the sleeves. Can’t wait to see you all dolled up. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful dress! I was thinking another idea for the sleeves is to put your embroidered fabric in the slit but that’s for another dress.
Gorgeous dress….beautiful executed. Personally not a big fan of sleeve slit…I would have attach on the slit some embroidered tule and still have a see-through kinda slit but full arm cover…….again love your work

I’m 82 and have a grandson’s wedding September 2025. Will chase up that pattern and start looking for some silver grey fabric. Will use a higher neckline pattern but the original skirt design. Until I watched this I hadn’t given a thought to wearing something glamorous that’ll go with the platinum and diamond earrings that never get worn. September in Australia is early spring.

I love it when someone can make something from a pattern. Learning to sew is something that is on my bucket list. I took sewing in high school but never learned a thing. Too many kids in the class. I learn better with 1:1 help.

I’m thrilled you’re demonstrating how you’re putting this dress together! I was likewise, sad to see it wasn’t the traditional wrap version. My daughter fell in love with this as her favourite dress pattern, so I have made it my big project to gift it to her eventually. I can tell this will be a journey. I have been seeking the same colour, but wonder if using a lighter weight fabric might be more realistic die to the amount of fabric involved? Anyway, I would like to start with learning what the fabric colour name and type plus where you purchased it from? This got very long, but I am glad it is you I found doing this DIY. You are one of the best I’ve seen on you tube.

Very pretty color on you. Love the embroidered overlay. To be honest, I don't care for the slit sleeves. I would fill the opening with the embroidery fabric. Also, I really dislike the low cut neck. That's where the eye goes and the beautiful dress goes by the wayside.

Beautiful - the dress, the person in it, the combination... the brilliant idea of using the embroidered tulle to make an overlay skirt. Really classy too. If this is any indication I can't wait to see a pic of your lovely daughter on her special day, Marie. I might need some tissues though - the hopeless romantic in me cries at even fictional weddings, let alone real ones!

A gentle suggestion... a more fitting bra . But it's a gorgeous dress. Also remember in the wedding photos make sure your sleeves don't twist. I do like the idea of the catching of the sleeves half way down.

I love crepe backed satin and chose it for my wedding dress 30 years ago, except I preferred the crepe side and opted for satin backed crepe. No one except my dressmaker and I knew the wrong side of the fabric was deliberately on show.

Not at the end yet but I've seen several people who made this dress and most people have issues with the fit. Im liking your version and hoping it will work out. I think the new wrap dress pattern is a good real wrap dress for if you ever want just that, no work to do for it and no weird fit stuff like this one. No lining that's different and doesn't allow us to 'wrap' the bodice correctly.

I love the color, and the texture, but I honestly think the dress would look even more beautiful on you without the over lay skirt...the texture of your fabric is so luxurious it needs to be the only thing to see, the over lay seems to make your bottom half a bit heavy looking, and if you used a pair of sparkly earring post in the center length of your sleeve to pinch that tiny part closed it would put you over the top in gorgeous....would you give it a try, take a photo of you without the overlay, and a diamond like earring post holding a bit closed in the center of your sleeve, then take a photo with out the earrings and with the overlay and compare the two...a photo works better than just real life, it takes you out of yourself and you can "see" the looks without emotion...the over lay is beautiful, but in this case it takes away rather than add, to me any way....I love your skill and from one girlfriend to another....no meanness or negativity here, just an eye for your BEST on this important day. less can be so much more....
