Allisa, my grandfather told me many years ago to try to learn something new every day. Your videos certainly help me accomplish that goal. You continue to amaze me.❤
Thank you for being so kind and encouraging, that helps me to be even more enthusiastic and curious. Your Grandfather was right - we have to try :) I find that learning something new also keeps the sense of "wonder" in ones life. You know that feeling when we were kids and learned something mind boggling that we perhaps could not understand just yet? I find we loose that feeling as we get older, but I do get a spark of that whenever I try or learn something new.
I raised my children telling them, even when you are grown up don’t go to school anymore still everyday is still a school day. We learn so much with an open mind and a desire to add to our knowledge and skill set. I now hear my children saying exactly these words to my grandies.
I am 77 and still use my machine daily thanks for the good tip! You are amazing! I cannot wait to start embroidery with my ordinary sewing machine! You are Heaven sent.
WHAT!!!!! I’ve been sewing for decades and never knew about a double eye needle 🪡!! That embroidery 🧵 by machine is amazing! I’ll be doing that for sure. Thanks for showing us!
I love this!! I don’t have small children anymore to put this nice embroidery on their clothes for. Must say I used to avoid this technic. But I LOVE your idea of just leaving the foot away because I would always get lost because I couldn’t see where I was going!! Awesome tip !! Thanks ❤!!
I actually really love this technique on my clothes, too, You will see it in the future videos (I did not want to show all of the future projects :) ) It is a nice way to add embroidery to a solid color, and just the way you want it. Yeah, I find that with foot or without does not really matter if you are working with a hoop, since the fabric is nicely stretched anyway. Thread sketching is so addictive and relaxing - just seeing thread and needle do their thing is quite relaxing :)
I did a lot of free motion quilting, and never in a million years thought about not using a machine foot, thank you for the suggestion! It's so much easier to follow a sketched design. Max Lock also makes stretchy threads, sold in big cones for sergers. The double needle idea is excellent, thank you for that too! 😊
WoW. I happen to come upon your videos for a reason. I sew for some ladies at my church and I needed to do some embroidery work on a smock-like dress. You are a great seamstress. Very talented. Thank you. New subscriber here!! ❤
I love this technique and you produced some beautiful things. Even your first project looks great. I love the blouse and now I'm just go to go and get my machine and hoop out! Thank you again for a brilliant clear tutorial. 🙌
Once again you have proven that the name of your channel is perfect. I use my my straight stitch for embroidery, thread painting, and so much more. I use a product called Octi-Hoops. They make me and my machine better. LOL. It really is fun to play with my sewing machine instead of just doing regular old sewing. Thank you!
Awesome! thanks so much! I have always been so disappointed that I couldn't afford a embroidery machine. Now I am going to try this. I am so excited to try some small simple projects to start. You are so talented.
Absolutely fantastic video! I’m blown away by your embroidery designs especially the mushroom with the butterfly - it is just mind blowing. Thank you for bringing such unique and innovative content our way ❤
Those are great sewing ideas. I subscribed. Compliments on the flawless presentation. I have never seen a more perfect lesson / presentation. Every single element so carefully integrated: gestures, timing , sequencing, examples, lighting, script, editing. You are a real artist of the video. .
I don't know how I just happened upon your channel but I am so thankful that I did! I am totally inspired and looking forward to trying these things I just started sewing September October of 2023 before that I hadn't even been on RUclips LOL thank you so much for sharing your delightful to watch and listen to❤
Omg! You are the best teacher! So much information here! I’m gonna need to listen again and again to get it all. I’m gonna try the embroidery sounds fascinating
I love this idea so much. I'm definitely going to try this on my kids and possibly also my own clothes. You are genius Alisa. Thank you so much and have a great Saturday ❤
Wow! Thank you for for sharing your expertise, knowledge and brief indepth teaching on extremely useful information to make better use of my Toyota basic sewing machine. I shall practice the embroidery technique you used in an embroidery hoop with a straight stitch. I thought one needs an actual embroidery machine. Thank you very much for sharing your video clip with me. Peace and prayers 🙏 👏👏☕️👌💜💜💐
Great to see you here, you're in the right place :) for the past 5+ years I have been showing people how to sew and draft beautiful clothes with simple and clean techniques, you will find a lot of useful videos here
This was sooooo fascinating & helpful. I consider myself a "beginner" even though I learned years ago, however, I hadn't stayed with it sooooo...well, I thank you soooo much! I'm going to have to try this. I have a Singer 4452; not sure how to get the feed dog to stop working. Hopefully a manual or YT video will wxplain. Now, onto the "zig zag" video you made.😊😊😊
My goodness how clever! I usually use an open toe foot but no foot at all makes far more sense. And I’ve never heard of a double eye needle. Great vlog as always- thank you. 🙏
Your creativity is astounding, sew beautiful! Thank you for these tips, recently bought a strait-stitch machine, was having doubts about my purchase, maybe now I will use it more.
Hi Alisa, Mettler also makes an elastic sewing thread it is called SERAFLEX. This was the brand I was able to get in Germany after you recommended using this kind of thread for top stitching knits with a sewing machine. It worked like a treat. Thank you for sharing this technique and the materials!
I've done free motion embroidery (with not-so-spectacular results), but I did use a presser foot and didn't use a hoop. Yours looks *so* much better! I'll have to try it with the hoop now.
Very much like free motion quilting using a domestic machine. I've wondered if an embroidery hoop would be helpful with that. It is definitely worth a try. Thanks for this very interesting video.
Double needle, yes, but I've never heard of a double eye needle. I love embroidered clothing so these techniques are going on my 'must try' list. I'm excited to see what future projects you will show us.😊
Free motion embroidery is so much fun ! I sometimes do it on a double layer of wash away stabilizer, then when you soak it you're left with just your stitched design so that you can applique it on to your project. So many pretty decorative threads to use as well ! Thank you !
You do 2 layers? I actually do it just on a single layer of water soluble fabric. I find that using organza and even netting (with stabilizer behind it) is also a lot of fun! And then... add a little bit of paint to it, even beads, sequins - ah, so much fun!
You got me curious! :) I wonder if we are using 2 different types of stabilizer and also I wonder if 2 layers of stabilizer would leave more "sizing" in the design on purpose to then do "thread sculptures". I tried that with a little butterfly and then I propped while it was drying, so the wings would look like it is flying, and the butterfly has stiffness to it, but just not enough to hold the wings.
I'll try one layer next time. Organza would be lovely ! I had a bad experience ( well, a learning moment )when I used 1 layer .. lol I use Sulky wash away.
@@stitchersdelight I use a roll of 10yds that I get at Wawak and the I also used the pellon wash away stabilizer. In this video, where I show the butterfly example, it is done on the wash away stabilizer I get from wawak.
So pretty! I’ve done free motion quilting, which is pretty much the same thing as what you’re doing. Most of my vintage machines can drop the feed dogs, and I have darning feet for them as well, which won’t need a hoop, but I can see where it might be very helpful! My 1957 singer 401a & 1960 Singer 500a have the ability to take two needles side by side for twin needle sewing, so the technology is not new, but also not normal for modern machines.
Great ideas! I think the free motion option would be great for lettering, too, if onboard machine options are too small. Seeing how easy makes me want to try 😊
I find that it just takes a little bit of practice, also using multiple color threads and shades helps with the dimension and the depth of the picture/design. Variegated thread does wonders when you want a simple design, but slightly different shades, that's what I did on the black blouse. If I can do it then You can totally do it! :)
These are amazing. I did some stenciling on some fabric with markers & a blow device and I thought how pretty if I could embroider around them and mix the stencils with embroidery.
Wow! So simple but so effective! Thank you so much. I have learnt, and continue to learn, so much from your channel. I look forward to trying this as soon as I get the chance.
That was so interesting. I have been sewing for a long time but have never seen a double eye needle. I also prefer the triple straight stitch for topstitching and it is a lot easier than using a dedicated topstitch thread. I am also a huge fan of the Gutermann Maraflex thread, a real game changer although I do know of a third brand. I think it is Swiss and from memory is called Seraflex by Seralon.
Allisa, my grandfather told me many years ago to try to learn something new every day. Your videos certainly help me accomplish that goal.

OMG!! Didn't know you could embroider w/o a special machine . Awesome
same! I just learned i dont need a whole new machine and special bits!!
I am 77 and still use my machine daily thanks for the good tip! You are amazing! I cannot wait to start embroidery with my ordinary sewing machine! You are Heaven sent.

Wow! What a brilliant idea. I will definitely use the techniques you demonstrated. You are truly innovative with your sewing skills.
I have actually been researching how to embroider without buying another machine! Very creative ideas! Thank you ❤️

Double-eye needle? Wow! I've been sewing for many years and haven't come across that. Something new for me to try.
Your video is clear and concise and very helpful. I learned a lot in a short period of time.
Just ordered this double eyed needle. I’m nearly 80 and can’t wait ti try this out. Thanks so much ❤

I have been sewing for 55 years and these 3 techniques were new to me! Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
I love the double hole needle for topstitching. I love to sew Jean jackets so I will definitely go buy one of those needles.
