    Thanks again man trust me I’m going to be watching every video you put out these are great because I’m learning moi pai and qigong as well as tai chi of course so I’m implementing these techniques with my training and honestly all of them together makes a perfect puzzle come together the body the joints and tendons love the movement it’s hard to get actual knowledge on these subjects where I’m from especially right now with covid so big thank you sifu 🙏🏻

    Pulling your hip and shoulder back will dissipate a lot of energy into your shoulder and will do a pretty big bang in your torso so you will feel the punch powerful. But it will actually not be that powerful just because your body will eat up some of the power that should actually go to your tsuki. That's some kind of reverse kime :)
    Take a look at how some of the greatest karatekas of our times do it and you will understand what I mean. Sensei Andrei Bertel, Tatsuya Naka, Rick Horton, Morio Higaonna, and so on.
    P.S.: looking further in the video, the hip movement in zenkutsu dachi is perfect for gyaku tsuki, not for oi tsuki.
    P.S.2: I don't mean to bash this video, I'm just trying to bring my contribution as much as I can.

      Thank you for your comment. But I do not agree. Are you familiar with the kiri kaeshi principle of the hip which also Naka Shihan explained?

    • @mituc
      @mituc 3 года назад +2

      @@KenSato-IljaSmorguner Yes I am familiar with the kirikaeshi concept, but if it's applied here it's still backwards from a bio-mechanical perspective. Since most of the force (real force) of a tsuky technique (oi or gyaku) comes from the back leg (through the hips), while pulling back the shoulder and hip corresponding to the striking arm will simply take away the pushing force of the back leg. Maybe I will try to make a short video about this...

      @@mrcadoia Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it!
      Indeed, I noticed the same thing with the high level Kata practitioners and I think it's some kind of a trend that makes the gi and belt snap. I can somehow agree with that up to some level, but indeed if such a punch will be executed to a makiwara at least until everything will be figured out it will be more than the belt and gi that will snap (back) :)
      My experience is far smaller than yours, I barely have 20 years of practicing with a few years long gaps in between, and now in my mid 40s is a bit harder than I expected to get my belts back :) I always trained in Shotokan, and this basic movement and energy transfer theory I learned in my early days from great masters such as Sensei Vladimir Iorga, Sensei Ilija Iorga back in the late 90's and their students from Romania (where I'm also based).
      I'm glad to meet you so I will look around for your comments and advice. It's great to have good RUclips channels like this one with knowledgeable subscribers and commenters like you. Thank you! Oss!

    why the hip turns in the opposite direction of the fist neck at the end of the blow? I probably did not understand but it seems to me counter intuitive and does not go in the direction of power! thank you.

    Have any advices for wider shoulders? Sempai said me not to care about looking good, but I just wanted to know because I heard it helps not getting hurt during exercises and also improves upper body strength in general.

      I think it‘s important always warm up and also I recommend mobility exercises. We made a video for that (how to warm up). And I (Ken) personally work with weights and also train the side, rear and front shoulder.

    Super Video, wie immer👍. Wie steht ihr zur Thematik 'Timing von Schritt und Fauststoß"? Am Video sieht es so aus, dass Du erst Fuß aufsetzt und der Fauststoß später kommt. Verliert man damit nicht die Fall-Energie?

      Ich gebe dir recht. Wenn man nach vorne geht setz zuerst der Fußballen und dann die Ferse ab. In dem Moment wo die Ferse absetzt sollte auch die Technik gleichzeitig abschließen.Sorry wenn ich das nicht so rüberbringen konnte.

  • @michael.schuler

    I'm sorry, but at the very the moment you are hitting, your hips are moving backwards, away from the target. What you feel as power is your own body slamming on the brakes at the moment it should be hurtling forward. This hip movement actually diminishes what the opponent feels. Master Egami instructed, "Hips mean knees." Watch your front knee's movement as your punching fist moves toward the target. If the knee is not advancing toward the target, body mass is not doing so either. Punch a bag or a friend to confirm. Ending form of oizuki is not the same as gyaku zuki. If you allow oizuki to penetrate fully, your end position is hanmi, not square as it is for gyaku zuki. (I apologize for the rudeness of this comment. But you are practicing seriously. Better to focus on actual results than theory.)
