Thanks, Dr. Phil, for this video of you and Jay Leno. At 73, I remember the beginning of both of your careers, and have been a fan! Jay is such a gem to entertainment! As is Phil in talk show history. Love and Prayers for both of you and families. 🙏🦋🙏🦋🙏
Just as in his show, Jay Leno's garage, Jay is a class act and really shows his hard work ethic. Dr. Phil, you did a great job of drawing this out in your interview. Thanks Jay and Dr. Phil for allowing us a glimpse of Jay's personal values.
Two icons, two legends, two giants, two stars, and enough talent to sink a battleship... they have every reason and opportunity under the sun to be selfish and snobby... but they're humble, approachable, and decent human beings. If we only could have more role models like them, this world would be a better place.
My husband works with him often (he helps him buy cars). Jay has given us a tour of his garage and tickets to see him live in Hermosa Beach. He actually IS as nice as he seems. Very generous and kind.
This video proves out what I've always thought about Jay Leno, he is as honest and sincere as can be, no matter where he is or who he is talking to. he would stop and talk to you walking down the street like he's known you all his life. What the world needs now and especially with the Putin crisis going on right now is a world full of Jay Leno's God Bless him and hedeserves all that he has and gives. Thank you Dr. Phil for doing this it gives me confidence in the world around us. ECF
Great Podcast, Dr. Phil! Jay Leno is one of the nicest, real, and pleasant people! He’s also a funny comedian, and rocked the Tonight Show! Even talking about cars, on his YT videos, I enjoy him. His wife is great, as well! Thanks for this visual Podcast, and for all the great work you and Robin have done for others!
And Conan by far! Conan was the best with guests, so quick witted, hilarious, mostly non scripted and Leno was best at the monologue by far because it his amazing stand-up career/experience. Late night has really gone downhill since we've lost all these guys including Dave, Craig and Johnny of course. I heard Milton might be back though.
Agree 100%. To top it off, Craig's special, last and only guest on his final show was no other than the great Jay Leno. I miss them both. Thanks to RUclips I can still catch some past stuff from Craig. The Jayleno Fly has put together some great compilations of Craig's show.
As a corporate pilot I’ve had that exact thing happen. I’ve gone out to dinner and there will be three hotels in a row and I can’t remember which hotel I’m staying in. I’ve also gone into a hotel, gone up to my room only to find my key doesn’t work. Go down to the desk to get my key reprogrammed and been told it was a Marriott key and this is a Hilton property. That’s the down fall to being on the road over 150 nights a year. Love the interview! Thanks for having Jay on!
Such a genuine, intelligent, humble, funny, and down to earth guy. It’d be a dream to meet him or Tim Allen in person. Like to see someone successful in Hollywood that still appears to be a good human and cares about other people.
Jay Leno is an American hero. He earned every penny he's made but has such an appreciation for everyday people and what they do. He is grounded and so real, it was great to hear his crack about idiots thinking Russia are today's good guys and the FBI bad ones
I can't believe that for 5 years I cleaned Dr. Phil's swimming pool until he sold his house. He's a great guy btw. I had a chance to talk with him many times, short times btw, And he was nice. If I ever had a chance to talk to him again I would love to talk about my depression and would ask for an analysis. G'd Bless you Dr. Phil.
18:57 “it’s a thrill it’s a treat that at age 68 I can still do this.” Says Jay Leno. 2 years old now. This video is. Jay is now 70. And still going on the road doing standup.
You missed the entire part about the grueling working for free at the beginning and waiting five hours to do three minutes of standup. It's NOT "lucky".
I respect Jay Leno so much I'm just a guy from Toronto don't even have my license but I can say everything I've learned about Cars is from this Man right hear thnx Jay for all good learning about Cars true Legand 😁💚 Migwech from Toronto 🇨🇦🙂
Have always been a Jay Leno fan. I used to live near the hangar where he kept his cars, I don’t know if this is from the same hangar at the Burbank Airport but that was in the late 80s early 90s. I saw him a few times driving a different car to work at the NBC studio. I was a driver for the Walt Disney Co. and once I delivered some documents to his studio office back stage, he wasn’t there but I remember seeing Michael J. Fox sitting in the green room as I walked through the hallway.
I also grew up with channels 2, 4 and 7 - and the only way to change the channel, was to get off the couch and go to the TV and turn the clunky dial. Shows would end at 10 p.m.or so, and we had the pattern on the screen until morning. I think it may have had an eagle on it. Oh yeah and black and white.😮😄
I like the desk mics aren't even plugged in obviously...mics on shirts. Okay, those mics are hooked up 36:40. Close range vocal mics that's for sure. And oh' yeah Leno's always been my favorite comedian since his first Letterman appearance in the early '80's.
The hotel thing is real, I spent seven yrs as a tech travelling the US and couldn't tell you how many times I spent looking for my rental car cos I couldn't remember what it was.
I was never a late night show watching kind of guy. I mean I did was some shows now and again, Jay Leno, Dave Letterman, etc. But I absolutely love "Jay Leno's Garage" and I'm not a gear-head. It's the stories behind the cars and steam engines, etc.... how he got them, what he did to restore them, and so on... And who better and funnier to tell the stories than Jay Leno.
I just have to add I remember that episode specifically where Jay said to the audience not to laugh for dr. Phil when he did the monologue and I felt so bad for him because he was actually really funny! In fact I just tried to look it up on RUclips and I can't find it.
If I could meet and talk and visit with one famous person in the entire world, it's Jay Leno, I too am an automotive enthusiast full of useless interesting information as my Wife says I'm a walking encyclopedia, and I'm a retired Firefighter and Master Mechanic or Master Tech as you kids call it. Anyone remember when it was Mechanic Foreman? Anyway. Firm handshake love Jay!
Its been a year since the last time I watched this, and my sentiments which I said below are the same as then no need to repeat them. but the sad thing is that my remark about Putin. he's still at war , and no one or no thing has put a stop to it. that! is the sad part about history. that so few can cause so much death, damage, and heartache to so many. why is it millions of lives are lost for the efforts of only a few egotistical men. Sad but so true . God Speed all! ECF
I fluy out of Newark one time and was running late. I didn't notice where I parked my car so when I got back I could not find it. It was like the aliens had snatched it. Come to find out the parking had 2 lots exactly like each other. 1 mirrored the other. I did eventually find but not after I had a panic attack. I can relate to Jay's story of his lost hotel.
Funniest joke I heard was the one where guy comes home with a caddy conv . Asks where you get that says girl gave him a ride she layed down on a blanket said take whatever you want I took the Cadillac.😃💞
Jay having a senior moment with a misplaced hotel is hilarious . But he still knows all his vehicles and their specifications . Just goes to show when your traveling out of your element it's easy to get confused no matter what your intelligence .
He was awesome to his staff for all those years, stuck with them. Would even call other comics and congratulate them when they were new and up-and-coming, guys like Louis c.k. etc, that they attest to how supportive he was. I always wonder when these rich people die who gets all that money who's going to get all those cars? Mavis didn't want children. Usually when people get older they get lonely and they terribly regret that. I totally know Jay wishes he had a son to work on cars with and teach him stuff with and bond. Thanks Mavis
I think you knew my mom Jay, my aunt seems to think so, she was a redhead, Gypsie Rose Lee taught her and my aunt how to dance. were related to her somehow I forget, but when my brother got married in Reno in like 88 or so she knew about your car collection I thought she had said it was in town then but it was a while ago, she talked as if you were friends but of course she and her sister were going down there to Reno and Vegas on the regular in the early 60s even earlier .. both my aunt and her were GOGO dancers and they would go down and dance on weekends, dunno exactly which clubs tho.. I remember Harrahs ash trays and coin plates.. they always brought home that kinds of stuff .. they may have just worked in the same club you were working in I am sure that's what it was or they just caught your act but she knew you had all those cars in 88 or so I remember her saying when we were in Reno she was like "yea Jays cars are just over there" or that's here his cars are?.. I'll talk to my aunt I'm seeing her this month see if I can get her to talk of those days .. of course my mom passed away a few years back from cancer, they were very wild back then my father told me this but they never let on to us kids ..

Its not just the joke itself, obviously... its the way he looks and sounds, his delivery, facial expressions and body language... his voice and tones, his laugh etc. Its the entire package.
Jay just said " I'm not a big fan of memorabilia".. ? ? Sitting in front of a Hudson..? Just goes to show you, sometimes, even the most intelligent of us say things they don't mean. You seem to be a good bloke Jay, around the same age, so I relate very well. Good on ya mate.

I’m a fan of Jay Leno. He seems like a humble genuine standup type of guy even though he has been so successful. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The terminal stain of success. He endured it well.
What he does for the Automotive Enthusiast community is awesome.
My husband works with him often (he helps him buy cars).
Jay has given us a tour of his garage and tickets to see him live in Hermosa Beach.
He actually IS as nice as he seems. Very generous and kind.
Hey,Jay you do not fool us. I think you are one of the most intelligent persons I have ever watched!
What, do not fool?

This was a great show, 2 brilliant men having a good time. J is simply the best of the best, and he appreciates what he has.

Just an ordinary man who doesn't pretend to be something he's not. I really miss him on TV at night. Jay and Craig Ferguson were the best!
They became friendly in real life, too.
And Conan by far! Conan was the best with guests, so quick witted, hilarious, mostly non scripted and Leno was best at the monologue by far because it his amazing stand-up career/experience. I've done that before in Memphis TN haha. It wasn't the best place to be wondering around trying to find my hotel
I never knew how clever you were Jay, until Jay Leno’s Garage. This interview reveals your gratitude for your success. I enjoy your show. Thank you.
I am STILL watching Jay Leno's HEADLINES on RUclips almost every day - brilliant!
Me too
This is only time that I really like to watch Dr Phil talking to Jay it's good
Really enjoyed Dr Phil interviewing Jay.
I love cars and good comedy. And Dr Phil is great in his field. One of his books helped me tremendously.
Jay Leno was the best comedian by far in a live show that I`ve ever seen.
Man, Dr. Phil is so much better doing a podcast than the tv show.
His tv show is dying. Maybe it’s time to change.
He’s still making millions
He has more control over the podcast. The show is for dramatic effect.
He appears in his mobility to have spinal disk problems.
(Voice/eyes of experience)
I know that he played football in early life.
🙂✌❤
@@kajem575 Football and his size now a problem for damaged backs.
I never get tired of watching Jay. He just has that magic je ne sais quoi thing going on. Mr Entertainment all the way.
Been watching this for 5 min and I love it. This is the kind of stuff that peaks my interest. The small stuff, everyday stuff, it's great. 👍👍
It's nice Jay Leno shows doctor Phil what real men do!
Jay is always seems so relaxed and at ease in front of the camera.
That was a fantastic interview! I enjoyed the dynamics and reminiscing between Jay and Phil!
Such a genuine, intelligent, humble, funny, and down to earth guy. It’d be a dream to meet him or Tim Allen in person. Like to see someone successful in Hollywood that still appears to be a good human and cares about other people.

Nice conversation, I really enjoyed it.
The chemistry is off the charts
Great conversation guys 😁
I loved it 😎
Jay. Phil. Modern legends
Leno is the best
Jay just said, "I am not a big memorabilia guy." What? What is that big car collection? LOL. I love Jay.
Mutual respect! Kudos
" I'm not a big memorabilia guy" say a guy who has 200+ cars.
Cars are an exception. Older cars look and feel better.
18:57 “it’s a thrill it’s a treat that at age 68 I can still do this.” Says Jay Leno. 2 years old now. This video is. Jay is now 70. And still going on the road doing standup.

I love Jay Leno…❤️
This was great. Just great.
All the best to Jay and hope and good days for his wife!!
I follow Jay Leno on his car channel. He seems like a regular guy who just got lucky.
You missed the entire part about the grueling working for free at the beginning and waiting five hours to do three minutes of standup. It's NOT "lucky".
I wish I could meet jay his story's are great
Jay is to comedy what Rush was to politics! Simply the best... both of you!
Rush was a creep.
Remember when TV signed off at 12 and watching the start of the day by seeing the Airforce poem on tv??
