- Here it is, the full Sunday demonstration of Ayrton Senna's amazing McLaren MP4/6 championship-winning F1 car as it screamed round Goodwood.
With Bruno Senna at the wheel, Ayrton's nephew and a former Formula 1 driver himself, the McLaren Mp4/6's naturally aspirated Honda V12 sounded incredible as it flew round the south downs for these wonderful demonstration laps.

The more cylinders, the better the sound.
Best v12? Arguably yes and the 412 T2.
But for me it's the v10s of the 2000s, specially Ferrari

Agreed. 1991 had the most beautiful grid of F1 cars ever. From the diversity of the designs to the liveries. My favorites were the McLaren MP4/6 and Ferrari 643.

In my opinion this is the ideal race car: open wheel single seater small lightweight with decent aero and a screaming (very) high revving v12 mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Pure perfection.
What an era of Formula One. Senna's McLaren with his yellow helmet and Mansell's "Red 5" Williams will always be a special part of this man's childhood.

I'm a brazilian, i live in Brazil. and I really liked this tribute to Ayrton in reference to the car he drove, even though I was from 1998. Here everyone remembers him as a legacy, with this McLaren Honda 1991 with a Honda engine. This car is an icon of Ayrton Senna, grateful by memory.
Senna lives on forever in our minds and hearts from this even more.
For me,the McLaren MP4/6 ist the absolutely most beautiful F1 car of all times.This is what a F1 car must look like and sounds!I love this car so much that I had a bicycle made in these colors.I miss the 90`s with his beautiful F1 Cars.

The end of an era. The last V12 car to win the championship, and also the last car with a manual gearbox to win the championship. Modern F1 cars are technical marvels, but they don’t have the same soul.
Well they changed the rules for both safety and fuel regulations. From what I know it uses a tiny V6 and must meet the 25 liters of fuel an hour regulation. Likely 20 miles to the gallon if I had to guess. V12s like these are fuel thirsty and are double the displacement of your normal 2.6L v6
Or per race. Can someone please check my facts or correct me
@@treasuredowning8946 V12's weren't excluded due to changing regulations, they simply fell out favor, due to V10's being less thirsty and offering the same power.
Ferrari used V12's till the end of 95.

In my opinion, this is the last great looking F1 car. To elaborate, this is the last F1 car to not look like it has a phallic front. Also the last F1 car to not be sprinkled with aero elements all over the place. It just looks great, because it looks so straightforward and raw.

It's one of the all-time great F1 cars but I think you are over-romanticising it - there have been several great cars since this one...

@@coxakk Infelizmente eu não tive mesmo, nasci em 97. Mas meus pais/tios/professores todos falavam dele pra mim, então foi impossível crescer sem admirá-lo. O problema é que quando comecei a gerar um interesse por F1 ( la pros meus 7 aninhos de idade ), quem era o "melhor" daquela época era o Schumacher, então por isso tenho o carro dele como primeira lembrança de fórmula 1. Mas os carros de Ayrton Senna estão na minha lista dos meus carros favoritos da F1, como a Lotus 98t e a Mclaren Mp4/8. Inclusive o meu favorito é a Brabham Bt52 de Nelson Piquet.

Gosto do Senna, mas não podemos simplificar toda a F-1 a um único piloto._

Senna achieved immortality by piloting this F-1. Everyone remembers Ayrton when they see this Mclaren. It was in that year that he won the Brazilian GP, with only sixth gear in the final laps. Surreal!

É impressionante o esforço do Bruno para fazer as trocas de marchas com punta tacco, dá pra perceber nos movimentos de cabeça o esforço que ele coloca no ombro. Aí eu te pergunto: Como o Senna segurou esse carro literalmente nos braços e ganhou uma corrida com o câmbio travado na sexta marcha?
É meus caros, o cara não era desse planeta, para mim não existe piloto e carro melhor do que Senna e McLaren MP4/6 nesse esporte, simplesmente histórico!
Bom, com o carro travado na sexta marcha, a última coisa com a qual ele precisava se preocupara era com... troca de marcha!
Além do óbvio abismo de talento entre os dois, câmbio manual era o padrão nos tempos do Ayrton - ou ele dominava ou não teria sucesso. O Bruno provavelmente só pisa em uma embreagem para passar marcha nessa exibições.

Doesn’t get much more iconic than this, beautiful McLaren in its simple Marlboro livery with that yellow, green and blue helmet. Just magic.
This was peak-F1 for me - before active suspension, flappy paddles, driver aids, grooved tyres, when they had steering wheels instead of playstation controllers... I was a mad-keen F1 fan back then, and thought I would be for life, but the v6 hybrids were the final nail in the coffin for me, haven't watched an F1 race since Rosberg won the championship (2016, I think).

Seriously. I always thought it's less cool nowadays knowing there is an offsite technology control centre making the decisions instead of the drivers just eyeballing things. Feels more like a corporate job than an intense sport. Some people like it. But I prefer motor racing to be raw.
