Love you and all ur content . As a 54 year old that still love to dress fashionably, u r such a big help in choosing outfits !! Also I would LIVE to see the hailey beiber styles applied to us mature women
I’ve used Coach fanny packs for YEARS….when it was a “fashion don’t”. I didn’t care. Coach’s iteration is very classy looking. Can’t tell you how long I embarrassed my kids by using that bag!
Cool! I really appreciate your sponsored section in this one! I always want to run out with just my phone but hate having to carry it. Those phone straps are brilliant and you showed how they can be fashionable. Thanks for that one!!
I have never given up on crossbody bags and fanny packs. I love to walk -- I'm lucky to live near great shopping -- and I want my hands free. Recently, I got into watching European fashion videos and I see that the most stylish and elegant women wear crossbody bags. I think I have always been subconsciously aware of how they give shape to an outfit but now you've confirmed it! Thanks. As for headwear, I have built a collection of headbands. Knotted, flat, ruched, embellished, velvet, leather, linen, even raffia! They give me a little height (I'm 5'2"), keep my wavy layered hair neat, make up for the fact that I never wear earrings, and are, chic, romantic and classic. It's alazing how they can elevate a simple sweater and jeans. Oh and belts belts belts....
I prefer the belt bag over my shoulder or worn crossbody actually. I think we share common favorite RUclipsrs - I love Lydia Jane Tomlinson and also Karen Britchick.
I'm 68 and would love to see a video on Haley Beiber. I do have a phone strap and love it. I walk 2 to 3 hours a day and it is a must for me. Looks like I'll be purchasing a few more. I loved the gold one and the black leather one you showed. I have a question. Is the leather one heavy on your neck. Love all of your videos. Ty so much.
I’m glad hair accessories are back, they’re fun and add interest to a simple outfit. I like the hair accessories from, I think it’s called, The French Barrette Company. They are beautiful and very high-quality.
Thank you Leonie, this was awesome!! I’m going to order at least one phone strap and rewatch this video because I have just about everything you talked about but they’re all hibernating in my closet and I can’t remember what they look like! I have a cute bucket hat that I’ve never worn because I decided I didn’t know how to style it but now I’m going to get it out and try again. Love your videos ❤!
Leonie, your still photos are dynamite, along with your full body modeling. Very cute and chic! I appreciate the rundown on accessories… especially with the hope that statement necklaces really do come back!!!
I have that exact LV Neverfull. 😂 In saying that, it's now a work bag (it fits a MacBook + heels with no issues) but it stopped being an everyday handbag years ago. Thankfully, I look after my bags so it doesn't look 'ragged' but the day it does, it'll be repurposed!
I love Fanny packs. I have an old tokidoki one that is enormous, and just bought a medium sized one in black & white checkers that goes with everything. They come in handy during excursions where you can’t take your bag. Last month, I wore one ziplining and it allowed me to take my essentials (i.e. tampons, tissue) that I did not want to part with. My friend even asked me to hold his wallet because he had to leave his backpack behind.
Great video, Leonie. I love it when you feature accessories. They really can elevate an outfit especially in spring/summer months. Btw: You looked quite stunning in the brightly colored silk head scarf! You looked amazing in it. Not a fan of Hailey Bieber as featured content. I have nothing against her. I just don’t consider her a style icon at all although I know she’s very popular. I see her as another “It Girl” in a very long line of them. To me her style isn’t all that inspired & seems to appeal to only to a very specific & young demographic.
I agree about the “ just another it girl “ comment . What do u think about taking some of her simple classic styles and updating for mature women , like ourselves ?? I’m always looking for more ideas in putting together my staple wardrobe . 🙏🏻😉
Great video.. loved all the tips.. just in time for a planned trip to Spain.. all accessories mentioned in this video are definitely very relevant and achievable. Thank you!❤
Great video & ideas - I am a big fan of crossbody bags. For religious reasons I wear a head covering every day - usually a beret. Have a good day lol ❤
Calvin Klein makes a belt bag that’s actually a belt. You just slide it on and then buckle up. It’s very slim and looks elegant. It’s not puffy but very flat. I love mine.
When I was a young adult, I always had long hair and never wore the short, fat hoops; however, I am on a jag with them now that my hair is shorter and I am really enjoying them.
Just love your videos! And yes, please, I need some more Hailey Beiber style at 57! I have a some pieces in my wardrobe inspired by her, but a few more would be awesome!
Belt bags: another style influencer posted a video a few days ago saying not to take your belt bag/fanny pack to Europe -- NO ONE wears one in Europe! I wondered what she'd been smokin', since I'd just returned from Europe and in fact, people DO use them there! 🙃 It struck me funny. Anyway, yes, at their best, they're just a variation of purse/cross-body/man-bag or what have you. They either look good as used, or they don't, just like any other accessory, whether in or out of style. Thanks Leonie!
Oh that's so interesting about the influencer saying no one is wearing them in Europe - Oh well at the end of the day I always say if you love something you should wear it regardless :)
The belt bag is often called a “sling bag” now here in the US. Both men and women use them, over one shoulder, slung across the chest. I think they could be very practical, but I’m still looking for the right one in soft leather with wide straps, those nylon straps irritate the sensitive skin on my neck, a real problem with any cross-body bag. They are also good for visually breaking up a larger chest, as are all cross-bodies. I want one that can hold a passport, airline tickets, etc., so the usual banana shape wouldn’t work, it needs to be rectangular. A nice banana-shaped one would be fine for everyday, so long as it holds everything I need like wallet, sunglasses, etc.
Hi Leonie, what happened to your video from last week? It was about something quite thought provoking, I was going to rewatch it, but it disappeared! Or was I not looking properly?! I also like Lydia Tomlinson‘s channel. Like you she talks about style without the “show and tell” of the highly expensive items she’s bought. I like that she is all for wearing what we already have with an emphasis on how to style without the need to binge purchase.
@@Thestyleinsider. I’m sure it is but it’s the size of a small box of animal crackers! My phone wouldn’t even fit in it. I’ve been buying Italian made leather purses for $40- $80 at Tjmaxx. Great value for my budget and style goals, I would rather have a bag that isn’t instantly recognized.
Now I get it with a cross body bag but if you apple shape is not a good look for people, that’s trying to make their stomach look smaller. When you got that bag right across your stomach doesn’t that make them look at the bad part of your shape I like my cross body, but I have to I like easy access and sometimes it’s hard to get my hands into my handbag, I mean tell me what you think about the Apple shape with a cross body. Love you video.
The bum bag 😅😂 I was wearing them from the 90s when we did not have mobile phones but the cassette player then the cd player so that you could carry at least 2-3 cassette and spare battery 😅oh boy I'm showing my age anyway I did not wear my bum bag to the front or the side I wear mine to the back like a rock sack I find it adds more interest I especially have one in black leather which I wore in the winter months over my coats tailored or quilted it brought something different to each look all you saw was the strap across my chest then when I passed the bag is on my back so unexpected 😊
Hmmm. I never thought id consider the fanny packs but idk.. im 52 , i see the practicality and they have " elevated " quite a bit so yeah.. maybe , i think im open to it.
I started paying attention to Hailey Bieber’s style when I found out that she has short torso / long legs type of body, just like me (with the difference that she’s quite young and super thin, which I’m not, lol). I would love to see a video about her style!

Please Please do a video on how to respond to haters...I am 58 and live in the Midwest. There's so many "Karens" I have been told " You try too hard" " women over 40 shouldn't wear that " etc.
A modern twist on the classic golden hoop earrings is a great idea! Love it ! But fanny pack - no way. Wouldn't be caught dead wearing one lol. Crossbody bags are a classic. Everyone has one ( or more ). Don't see what's unexpected about them. Hailey Bieber ... meeh. Although a video on her style would be interesting either way. I personally am totally tired of the ridiculously oversized clothes trend. Wish it would go away.
ModernGurlz just released a new video on the difference between stealth wealth and quiet luxury as well as the history behind the two terms. I thought you might want to check it out.
You mention the crossbody bag bonuses before and it does work so well for me because having a large chest it cuts down right between cleavage and strap lay down in the middle to press down the fabric, so it gives me shape. I probably already had some crossbody bags but for that reason thrifted some more for options. The phone strap case not a fan of unless it a kid. It just makes me think of wearing a badge or key around my neck. Nope to Halle Beaver inspiration because it like people following behind the Kadashian's, I would be a shame if as an adult to be a fan of someone that only famous because married well or came from a family that was well connected and well to do and you became infamous for a porn video. I am definitely going to hit up the Reyna line of hair accessories, they represent woman of color and fun colors and designs, the plus they are affordable, for sure. I am a big headband jerk; I have been wearing them from childhood to present and have quite a collection. You provided a great video that point out these tools that can be useful in completing or enhancing a look. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.
I just came across your channel and was really liking your videos...until the Hailey Bieber fan-girling. I can't stand bullies (I'm too old to be a groupie of Bieber, his ex, and co) but I did catch the hoopla when it was all over social media recently. I really don't think she sets a positive example of promoting anything purpose driven, just clout and essentially copying others (looks, etc). Hoop earrings, for example, are a staple of women of color's wardrobes. In typical fashion (no pun intended) Hailey Bieber is capitalizing on that and whitewashing them to make them appeal to white women - same as she did with the "Clean girl" makeup look using lip gloss over lip liner and dubbing it her "glazed look," nevermind the fact that Chicanas, African American women, Latinas, etc have been doing that for eons!!! It's ridiculous. Real style has much more substance than Hailey Bieber and her nepo friends. I can't take anyone seriously who uses her as a point of reference
Very cool accessories that make a difference, but I will feel bad if I don't point this out regarding the cross body phone strap. I understand the practical appeal of having the phone so at hand and that is a cute way to wear it, but having all that radiation of a 4G/5G connected device flush to your body for prolonged periods of time is not advisable. It's bad enough that it's become a commodity so inseparable from us, that some people hold in their hand non-stop or even sleep with their smartphone next to them. We are gradually seeing more and more the fallout of this in the increase of cancer in ever younger people, however the full scope of it is yet too early to see because only those from Generation X and up are the first humans to live permanently exposed to high radiation. We should minimise the long term effects of this continuous exposure as much as we can.
