Thank you for sharing this! I have a 1990 and I know the V6 3.0L 3VZE have had a notorious history for their head gasket issues. I really want the 5VZE 3.4 CAM so bad! How long did it take you and your friends to do this swap?
Thank you for watching! Once I did the maintenance repairs on the 3.4 it only took us about two weekends. We got really lucky by finding a donor vehicle being exactly the same as our recipient. It’s definitely work the work!
We used the factory 3.0 engine mounts, the intake is close but doesn’t hit. We did have to cut out a spot of the hood insulation but none of the cross braces. Thanks for watching!
Spacers are 1.5, I ran a set of FJ rock warrior 17 inch wheels for a while( wish we still had em) the hub bore was smaller on those and I only wanted enough extra space to clear that. As of now we are running 15x10s with a spacer only on the rear.
@@bensfixitpage341 On the highway with your foot out of it about 18 mpg. Would probably be a lil better without the mud tires. Just to let ya know, it’s hard to keep your foot out of it, lol. Very fun to drive!
You’re correct, the 3.0 died due to an oil leak. The 3.0 is weak as water compared to the 3.4. My son is a safe driver and a volunteer fireman! I’m very proud of him and he’s proud of his 3.4 2nd Gen 4Runner! Thanks for watching!
That engine not only looked clean enough to eat off... It looked good enough to EAT! Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Thanks!! It did come out nice, it needs a good cleaning now lol
Epic man! Love the second gen! This is a cool truck
wow! very very nice. wish i had a 3.4 in my 3.slo. thanks for show.
You’re very welcome, thank you for watching. It’s been a blast to drive!!

Do the swap fella you’ll absolutely love it!!
very nice!!!! I bet that beast is a neck breaker everywhere you drive it lol
Yes it’s a blast to drive, wish I’d done it sooner. My sons always messing with yotas, lol
Good job on the swap, What tire size did you go with? Thanks
Thanks, he wanted to stay with 31s. They are 31x10.50r15 on 10 inch wheels. Running a 1.5 spacer on the rear
How did you create clearance for the 3.4 engine and the hood? Most swaps I've seen have had to cut a section of the hood for the 3.4.
We used the factory 3.0 engine mounts, the intake is close but doesn’t hit. We did have to cut out a spot of the hood insulation but none of the cross braces. Thanks for watching!
@@speedy94- Interesting! And no body lift?
@@austinhartman6541 no body lift as of yet. I’d like to do an inch lift for more air flow. But it’s just a preference of mine, lol.
Nice Swap IDK if I should 2JZ or 3.4 my 94 SR5 Manual?
Thanks, I don’t know much about the 2JZ engine but for us the 3.4 had been amazing!
Just curious did you use your transmission that was matted to the 3.0 with the 3.4 or did you put something else in
We used the factory 5spd that was behind the 3.0, bolted right up!
@@speedy94- ok thank you sir I really enjoyed the video
We’re enjoying the extra power lol, she fun to drive!
Where you located
Beautiful state of North Carolina
Went through 50 belts??? Which is the right one bro????
I’ll have to check the and let ya know, lol.
If I remember correctly I put a pic of the belt part numbers in the video
What kind of wheel spacers are those? 2 inchers?

Hey guy, I have the same color 2nd gen 4runner and recently broke my gas door, any chance I could get that one off you?
Lol doubt it’s the same color. I mixed in extra pearl when I painted it. Good luck on finding a matching fuel door. Thanks for watching!
Nice job. Is it possible to fit a stock 3.4 air filter box in the Gen 2?
Pretty sure you can, the engine we bought already had the k&n filter.
@@speedy94- you've probably been asked this 100 times.. whats the mpg on highway?

How long you had this suv and what type of engine
My mother in law bought it in 98, I acquired it in 06. It had a 3.0 v6 but we swapped in a 3.4 v6.
Easier to work on then the 3.4
Yep yep
Dude the 3vze is fine after a head gasket replacement. Ur kid and the truck doesn't need mre horsepower. Less torque means less wheespin rofl

3.0 slow makes less power than 2.7 and gets crap mpg
Lol very true
