I think the largest challenge for me right now is coming up with a plan for how to charge for shipping in a way where:
1. I know I'm not losing money on shipping.
2. I don't have to worry about having all the specifics for each product or combination of products figured out up front.
3. I can minimize the number of different supplies to save on space and make packing more efficient.

Great video! My husband retired from a shipping company! Just curious why such a large box for the six wax melts? My husband always tells me to make sure the content inside does not move around! Have you tried a smaller box or is it the cost? Thanks!
I have been watching so many of your videos and learning a lot as a start my candle journey. How do you pack your wax samples. What you pack them in as container?
I use tiny glassine bags from Uline :) the wax melts don’t stick to those bags and then I put those in the little cotton bags with stickers!

Hi Ericka! I was curious how you are able to print your shipping label before packing up your orders? That seems like it would save so much time, but I always wait till the end, after everything is boxed up, so that I can weigh it with all of the contents and packaging materials inside. Do you have a system for knowing how much it will weigh? Or do you only weigh the candles and wax melts? I hope that made sense! Thank you so much for the amazing videos I've been your fan for far over a year now. You always keep me motivated in my business and I cant thank you enough for being so inspirational!
Thank you so much! That’s a great question :) I only weigh certain packages if I feel like it may be teetering between first class/priority but other than that I can print out the shipping label before packaging it up no problem! ❤️ (I know how much my products weigh so I use that to help me!)
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo You should always weigh the package after packaging because even if it is First-Class Mail the packing material can make a difference by an ounce or two, which can be a different price. The USPS will adjust your account after they weight and scan it at their sorting facilities, but it is good to avoid your account being adjusted if possible.
@@turasque Agreed! I've been shipping so long though that I already tack on that 1-2 ounces depending on the package. But I agree when you are just getting started I did this all the time! (Or if I have a package that's a little different than what I typically ship out)

What is the best way on helping customers with shipping costs without losing on my end? I feel with the higher amounts it will cause me to lose customers.
It’s more about the perception of the cost more than anything. The way I’m teaching it in the course is to split up the shipping costs and add a little bit into the price of the product and then charge the rest as a flat fee. It’s also very important to try to find the cheapest method of shipping in every order scenario ❤️
I’m having a really hard time with this honeycomb paper. It does not stay in the expanded form. It it doesn’t there’s no reason to use it. Ordinary paper would do the same..
If someone lived within a short driving distance from you, would you ever deliver it yourself to save the shipping cost, or would you feel like that's unsafe, or unprofessional?
Yes! I’ve done it before :) it just depends!
I Would combine to meet somewhere public to deliver it because it would save CO2 emissions and packaging, and the person would receive it faster :)
Is your honey comb paper pre cut sheets or a roll?
It looks like she cut the sheets all the same size. If you look at the edge you can see the cut lines. 🙂 You has a link posted under supplies for shipping and it's a roll.
Shouldn't the wax melt also need some heat protection?
Usually wax for melts isn’t as heat sensitive. It’s usually harder and has a higher melting point than container wax.
@@astarieapothecary The 10 degree C or so difference in melt point won't matter a jot when sat in a delivery vehicle that has been in full sunlight for an hour or more. I've had pillar candles with an even higher melt point melted in sun heated delivery vehicles.
@@amandag5072 That’s why I said usually. My melt wax is much higher melt point than my container but hopefully She will answer to give her insights
It is a much harder wax with a slightly higher melt point and I’ve found that I haven’t had any issues in shipment :) plus I was just being extra careful with the candles as we were on the tail end of the crazy heatwave!
The only thing I had issues with was my sample packs, in the thick of summer I received a couple messages that everything had melted together so I had to adjust and eventually I just took it down from my website until the weather cooled back down.
i guess some one is married...kind of distracting with ring
