I think he just really wanted to prove it could work, it was something he made after all so he probably didn't want it to look like a complete failure in front of the world. He probably also doesn't have a ton of video experience to know when the points been made and you're going to start losing viewers. Knowing when to quit and move on is something all video makers learn with time, a lot of videos of any type on YT really drag when comparing early videos to later ones.
The 'miner lung tester' is an old OLD prank machine that Tim has tested before. That's why he started laughing when he was shown the prototype model. He knew what was up.😁
cause it's the sound of tims clip-on microphone and another mic in the studio at the same time, thanks to physics the sound takes different times to get into the mics so when you record them at the same time you hear the delay difference.. could be edited but fuck it we are watching a video about toys
I can't believe the salty comments. I'm on the same course as George and we were only given 8 weeks for the client project. He created all those models as well writing a dissertation and research document. They're PROTOTYPES, not final models. Poor thing is nervous. Add some constructive to the criticism and be helpful.

This is my favourite video on this channel. The way the camera pans out to reveal George also sitting in *t* *h* *e* *v* *o* *i* *d* . The way George slowly gets frustrated with the blow toy. The way Tim keeps fiddling with the magnets. The audio that suddenly distorts. And of course, the prank at the end.
I don't think so as there would be a huge different in quality if that was the case, its the same mic but suffering reverb from something , or a feedback loop from a lose wire at a guess.
LOOOOL I really didn't see the dude owning Tim so hard at the end. -Very- well done. As a sidenote, I find it actually funnier how English people react to being pranked. That was probably the most humble and appreciative reaction I've ever seen to a gag toy.
I love the idea of the first toy, the concept is neat, and the fact that it was proven to work with a compressor validates it in concept. Some might say it didn't work or needs to be designed better, but what is a toy? They don't simply need to be casual novelties. A finger spinning pen doesn't work until the user masters it, and this toy, to me is the equivalent of that, but for breath control, rather than finger dexterity.

Magnets are in electric motors and dynamos (generators). Every windmill or a kinetic energy harvester has a dynamo that uses magnets to turn movement into electricity. Trains run on magnets now in China and Japan to reduce friction. It's already being exploited in many good ways

Tim told the guy to make these items, as seen in the description: We agreed to be that 'client', and we had a number of meetings with George Finnamore, where Tim came up with three designs of toy that he was interested in having made, and we discussed how to approach them. In February 2017, George returned with some advanced prototypes, and this film shows the meeting he had with Tim, where they demonstrate the three items.
I think it might be helpful for his first toy where the ball goes around, to perhaps flange out the top pipe to allow the ball a better chance to make it back up to the top.
2:23 looks very clear to me that the upper entrance has to stick out less than it does right now. And the entrance on top could be wider to maximize the chance of the ball going in. Feels like this guy didn't put much thought in his design, or lacks basic observation and problem solving skills

That is exactly what a prototype is...its a testing version of the finished design to see if it works or not...and see whats causing the problem and redesign the model to try and correct these problems. And of course prototypes usually don't work properly or at all, have something extra to it that was removed in later stages, or have something missing that was added in later stages.

He should put a funnel at the top of the first prototype! The ball just seems to be bouncing off the lip of the tube, if there were some curvature around the edge to direct the ball inwards I think it would work more often.
I imagine the guy has been sitting there since the very first video and only now has the cameraman panned out so we could see him.
