      I think he just really wanted to prove it could work, it was something he made after all so he probably didn't want it to look like a complete failure in front of the world. He probably also doesn't have a ton of video experience to know when the points been made and you're going to start losing viewers. Knowing when to quit and move on is something all video makers learn with time, a lot of videos of any type on YT really drag when comparing early videos to later ones.

    I love the idea of the first toy, the concept is neat, and the fact that it was proven to work with a compressor validates it in concept. Some might say it didn't work or needs to be designed better, but what is a toy? They don't simply need to be casual novelties. A finger spinning pen doesn't work until the user masters it, and this toy, to me is the equivalent of that, but for breath control, rather than finger dexterity.

    I think it might be helpful for his first toy where the ball goes around, to perhaps flange out the top pipe to allow the ball a better chance to make it back up to the top.

    2:23 looks very clear to me that the upper entrance has to stick out less than it does right now. And the entrance on top could be wider to maximize the chance of the ball going in. Feels like this guy didn't put much thought in his design, or lacks basic observation and problem solving skills

      Do you know what a prototype is?

    • @Mo15_SAMP
      @Mo15_SAMP 7 лет назад +1

      That is exactly what a prototype is...its a testing version of the finished design to see if it works or not...and see whats causing the problem and redesign the model to try and correct these problems.
      And of course prototypes usually don't work properly or at all, have something extra to it that was removed in later stages, or have something missing that was added in later stages.

      Tastenshakespeare Agree. And the second prototype, the magnet wheels, is popular throughout the world...the young man didn't invent it, and didn't improve it in the least. In fact, Tim showed us the same toy about two months ago in this channel.

    • @futhamucka
      @futhamucka 7 лет назад +7

      Mike West Why don't people read the freaking description? 1) they are simple prototypes, and from them you learn where you went wrong and make something that DOES work, ans 2) all these items were made at Grand Illusions' request, so anything puerile is Tim's own daft mind at work.

    • @mikewest3108
      @mikewest3108 7 лет назад

      Dan Reader I wouldn't submit anything that didn't work. But that's me.

    • @futhamucka
      @futhamucka 7 лет назад +3

      Mike West you might not if you were a student that had fuck all money to spend on taking months to build expensive, high quality prototypes for a college project. You know literally nothing about this guy or the circumstances around him or his course and you decide to be condescending. He graduated with honours by the way, it's in the description you clearly still haven't managed to read. Somehow I'll take the University's standards over someone who can't even take in a couple of sentences.

    • @mikewest3108
      @mikewest3108 7 лет назад

      Dan Reader Well being that I did prototype work on CNC wire forming machines for the private sector and the military I'd say I do have experience and had to keep deadlines as well. I also didn't need a college degree to do it.

  • @ShayBowskill
    @ShayBowskill 7 лет назад

    He should put a funnel at the top of the first prototype! The ball just seems to be bouncing off the lip of the tube, if there were some curvature around the edge to direct the ball inwards I think it would work more often.
