- Wild camping in the area of Dunstanburgh Castle, situated on a dramatic outcrop of Whin Sill rock of the beautiful Northumbrian coastline. Drone flying, photography and first impressions of the Jackery Explorer 500 power station. The romantic ruins of the 14th century Norman castle offered great opportunities for aerial photography, but the weather didn’t look promising. Eventually the mist started to clear, making this one of my best wild camping trips ever.

You had me welling up too talking about that sunrise, great video as always.
What made the sunrise more special, until that morning, the mist mostly obscured the views of the castle and scenery from arrival. The next morning was a sensory overload of beauty and wonder, I wasn't expecting to see. I found it difficult not to believe in a higher order which created all of this. It was a spiritual experience

Wonderful. One of the best bits of our coastline, great drone footage and an excellent location for a stealth camp.
Its a brilliant place for a stealth camp, hidden in the gorse bushes. I hope no one spoils that spot for future camps and maybe alerting the land owner to wild camping. Videos on RUclips encourage more people to get out but there is always someone who will leave rubbish behind. Harwood is getting very popular and I've heard the rangers are going around on quads looking for camps. Thanks for your comments, ATB.
Graham, just been to that location and the land owner has removed all the gorse.
I wish you had went and filmed inside the castle at night. I was on the stairs in the pitch black one night and heard an old woman's cackle. Scared the hell out of me. I later found out an old woman used to live in the ruins centuries ago.

EPIC Drone coverage of that Castle which I had never guessed was so big. Must have been some fortress back during its time.
The castle was used as a refuge for Earl Thomas of Lancaster, one of Edward II barons who was feuding with the king. It was never used to defend against Scotland or other threats

Epic video, at the start I thought you were going to be thwarted with crap weather. But what a result! I felt your emotion. A great example of the best things in life being free! It had some of your usual comedy but capturing that atmosphere was magical. I never miss a video and that’s up there with the best you have produced! Well done!

It was so emotional for me because I couldn't see the castle very well until I woke the next day. The view of the rising sun behind the misty castle with colourful gorse in the foreground was simply stunning and I didn't expect to witness such beauty and sensory overload. It was a spiritual experience.
Great video, the drone footage at the end was epic. Just started wild camping this year and as a local lad I may have to try this hill and get try and get some great footage myself.

I had no problems with midges near the coast even with there being no wind. I won't be camping in a forest until the cooler weather unless there is wind because midges are bad at the minute. Your best off camping in non conifer woods or on higher ground .

Class pal was in and out so quick the mist of the sea but like you say was worth getting up for great work with the drone 👌
Thanks mate, I'll be honest and say, I program the drone to fly using an app called Litchi to get the best cimematic shots. I can fly it but takes longer to nail the shot and battery life isn't great so flying remotely gets the best shots and I can focus on camera settings and exposure to get things right.

imagine being one of the guys building the castle! If you have ever read the Pillars of the earth, it takes you back in time and "you know it makes sense"
I've never heard of Pillars of Earth but know the peasants during medieval times were nothing more than slaves, owned by their lord. They didn't have a long life and died early due to hard work and poor diet.

Hi mate, this video is one of my favourites, as I caravan really close to this location I thought I'd check it out for myself to do a camp there. However when I got there I found that the land owner had completely removed all the gorse leaving nothing but scars of barren land in it's place. However walking towards the castle I did find two really good locations. Here's hoping and I hope you're OK and looking forward to seeing more videos.
You could possibly stealth camp in a bivy as the land isn't totally flat. Shame about the gorse getting removed, it looked really nice. Thank you for watching, its one of my favourite camps as well.
Absolutely stunning! ..... The mist still present gave it such an amazing dimension, and if I didn't know better, its almost as though you "ordered" the mist in those exact spots!

The song is called Heat by J Sigsworth. I always credit the music, either in the description or at the end of the video depending on the artist, as some like their work credited differently.

Hey Damien! The morning vid and photos of the castle were spectacular!! I was moved as well. Wish I had been able to buy my Jackery 500 thru your link, but as I told you earlier, I bought mine at the same time you received the 240. Anyhoo, just got back from a week of car camping with the 500. I’m VERY impressed! I ran my CPAP at night, and my 53 qrt. Bouge RV fridge/freezer during the day. As an example, it ran the Bouge at one point for three hours and only used 1% of battery. Of course, that also says a lot about the fridge, too. Would highly recommend for your upcoming car camping adventures. It’s very efficient. And couldn’t help but think that the 240 would have made for a bit easier hike, while still providing all the power you needed. Thanks much for another wonderful upload.
The Explorer 240 would be more than enough power for one night but was sent the 500 to try. I have bought a new fridge and getting a new van in a few weeks time so will be doing more car based camping videos in the near future. Thanks for your comments and for watching.
