- Shibamata is known as one of Tokyo’s most nostalgic neighborhood, a place with a small-town atmosphere that lets you forget the hustle and bustle of city. It’s one of Tokyo’s oldest towns that still has the feel of old Edo. Along the street leading to the temple, you’ll find numerous shops selling traditional Japanese Street Food.

Golden Lady is SO AMAZING and I want to go there just to say hello and tell her she's wonderful!!!! I'm travelling to Tokyo next Friday and I'm based near Skytree so maybe I should make this happen! I'm just really curious if she's there on Mondays.

Love Tabi Eats. This is by far one of my favorite RUclips Channels. I was an exchange student in Tokyo for a semester in college and have such fond memories of the food. LOVED the vending machines. I was born and raised in Honolulu so I also greatly enjoy the videos you have done on your visits to Hawaii. Keep up the great work.

The temple is so beautiful, I showed my son and said "this is way I want to take you to Japan and tour,,, so you can experience places and buildings like this as well as Tokyo and the skyscrapers."
He is studying to be a structural engineer, he wants to improve the safety of buildings in natural disaster prone areas (earthquake, flood, hurricane, tornado, mudslide etc).
He's 15 years old and has been so focused on this since he was 9 years old.
He can learn so much from japanese structure and the engineering that designed and built them.

Been here in last year for the first time and so many food options- all amazing. It’s like trip to Edo era - doesn’t feel like modern Tokyo. Bought a lot of お土産 for friends back home.

I know I'll be watching a video or two from you everyday before I set out exploring. I been to Shibamata last year in spring and last month. I love the area because of the architecture and vibe. It is even more beautiful when visiting Shibamata in spring. Definitely recommended.

omg I lived a 5 minute walk down the road from there!!!! that street/area is so beautiful people keep such nice gardens/plants in the area.
I love Shibamata!!! Been there during my student time in Tokyo. It's a great break from more downtown Tokyo in the summer. So surprised that the lady spoke Dutch, since it is not really a destination where a lot of tourists go. Love the streetfood you tried. Japan is really the only country I need to watch my weight hahaha I just love kusa dango and kuzumochi. Even for me the dagashi ya is nostalgic. When I lived with my hostfamily my "little brother" used to eat these snacks. And when I was a student they had such a shop in Takadanobaba. I sometimes dropped by on my way to and from university.

Another great collab, now heading over to Ai's. That temple was absolutely exquisite!! Being 100 % Canadian Chinese I really appreciate all the intricate details in the architecture. Omg..soo beautiful! I wish I could take my mom back to China but her health has failed since my dad passed 9 years ago. I didn't have any urge to go the the Far East when I was younger but sure regret it now that I am older. I have Hawaii on my radar and hopefully that item on my bucket list will come true. OMGEEE!!!! Boys! Ai-san! I LOVE all of your videos-you know that-but this one! This one holds a special place in my heart, as I used to watch Tora-san with my okasama! She loved Tora-san! Shibamata is definitely going on my “bucket list!” Toraya was Tora san’s ojisan’s shop, was it not? 🤷♀️ I seem to remember that.......
The “okkkaaaayyyy,” girl is hilarious with the kin-no-unko! I was watching this video on the big TV. Hubby knows the word “unko,” so he started cracking up! 😂
Every single street food, you all had, looked amazing! That ichigo daifuku looked like a snowball! The mikan daifuku looked delicious as well! I like how they used shiro-an. Brother, Shinichi, I loved how the ichigo-gyunyu brought back childhood memories for you. As an 11 year old, spending 3 months in Japan, I, too, wanted to be grown up. So, every chance I got, I drank kohi gyunyu! I also loved the yogurt one as well! The little glass bottles were my favorite!

You should do a collaboration on Tsukiji market, even though just about everyone has a version out. You are both very enjoyable to watch when you get together.

Funny you should mention "black sugar" @7:27. Black sugar milk (bubble) tea is like the biggest craze I can think of in New York Chinatowns from the past year or two. Always a line... I agree it's nice, but I'm not sure if it merits the few minutes wait. I'll need to try it again. (It's the craze I'm questioning, not the food item, which is yummy.)
I really like the tamagoyaki on a stick that you dip into a cup of dashi ( i dont know if i spelled this right or not). I can't remember right now where i got it but it could be the same place that you went. Either way it is super delicious.

We have to remember as children are taste buds are SUPER SENSITIVE things are sweeter, sour,bitter, hot & salty as kids, but as adults we start to like the things we didn't like as children because are taste bud start to slofh off so they aren't as sensitive as before that is why as kids we tend to not like food's we do as adults,! That is probably why you find it not as strong tasting as you once did,! Didn't you ever wonder why you didn't like something as a child but you now love as an adult,?
