I’m a Katie, too and I had my first kidney stone at 22 from caffeine. My second one came when I was 41 and it was from oxalate, which I had never even heard of. Seeing you go through this made me tear up, because I remember the pain. I remember the rocking back and forth in pain, the stent and the morphine and the laparoscopic procedure to blast it out. They tried to make me pass my stone on my own and eventually I had the surgery, and they then realized my tubes were too narrow to pass it on my own. My heart goes out to you. I’ve never had kids but several of my friends that have had kids and kidney stones said the stones were worse. Any pain you feel after this experience will seem so minimal. Stay strong and stick to the dietary restrictions they give you once they analyze your stone. The relief you will feel after the recovery will make you feel so grateful for so much. You’ve got this.
Travis you are so young (I'm 72) yet you are taking care of Katie and the situation like the man Katie needs you to be and to rely on.❤ Katie you are a true beauty no matter what you are going through. In all of your stress and pain, you thought to keep your followers informed, and that's more than most would do. Of course, we will pray for Katie and for you too. 🙏 . I can't believe Katie has been put off so much with this. I had immediate lithotripsy every time I've had a stone. I'm so sorry she's suffered and praying for her to get relief this time. ❤

I've had two kidney stones removed and with a stent both times. It's a bit uncomfortable after the procedure and you might have to use the bathroom a lot the first day of recovery (and your urine will probably have blood in it) but after awhile you don't really notice the stent. And in case you are worried about the removal of the stent (something I was super nervous about) it's a very quick procedure and it feels funny but it doesn't hurt. My best recovery tips would be take it easy, drink lots of water, and stay on top of your medications. You're going to feel a lot better once everything is back to normal.
i too had a similar experience. since they blasted them and the stents are out I feel like a new woman!
My goodness read up on this! Stents are normal procedure for after lithotripcy! I like everyone else is saying, I don't know why they haven't done the lithotripcy way before this!!! Stent won't hurt! Even the removal is nothing! Main thing plenty of water afterwards!!!
Sending lots of love and just finished praying for Katie! My husband had the stent for 2 weeks. Although it’s not the most comfortable two weeks he’s glad he had it. He continues to pass stones but the key is he’s able to pass them now. I prayed for God’s comfort for Katie and for these two weeks to pass quickly and for her stones to pass without too much discomfort. She is a strong young lady and I know she will do well. She is in the hands of The Great Physician!

My ex got them about every five years. He always was in ER, tested, and every time but one was straight to OR. He had stint in for a week after his surgeries it honestly looked like a tampon, it was inside but rope on outside for him to take out on his own. 1 yr between Halloween and Thanksgiving he had 3 kidney stone Lazer operations which are outpatient. I have been praying for ya'all this whole time since May. As far as her passing out, high levels of pain can trigger a POTS episode when blood pressure and heartrate are higher due to pain levels. She has been in some of the worst pain on the planet. Continuing prayers for ya'all!

Your description of how Katie was reacting to the pain was exactly how my husband (boyfriend at the time) reacted when he had a kidney stone in college.
He has not had another one since (more than 45 years have passed). The one change he made was stopped drinking 2 servings of milk with every meal, and boosted his water intake a lot. He has continued that practice all these years.
Praying for a successful surgery, with relief for Katie! Praying once this stone is gone, no more will form. ❤
Kidney Stone pain is the absolute worst! There’s just no escape from it, other than IV narcotics. My heart & prayers go out to her and to you all. She’s so young!!! Hopefully they can test the stones and see what type they are and maybe can tell what’s causing the stones? May God strengthen you both through this trial. ❤
The most common type of kidney stone is a calcium oxalate stone. There is a diet that can be followed to reduce the reoccurrence of these stones. A keto diet is a no go.
It will be interesting to see what type of stone it is, as there are four different types.
The stent will widen the tube so that she can either pass the stone or they can manage further stones. Likely, they will tell you to refrain from caffeinated beverages to keep the kidneys functioning as well as possible. Trust that the doctor knows what he is doing and will take great care of you. So many people say that kidney stones pain is way worse than labor! Praying Katie feels better!
Stent made me hurt worse. Lord I hope she gets relief.
The stent was uncomfortable but not painful for my daughter. The finally had to go in to retrieve stones. Her one kidney was swollen as well. Doctor also told her not to eat spinach or caffeinated drinks.
Travis and Katie, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have had kidney stones and the pain is so unbearable. Mine past and I was thankful for that. My urologist advised me to drink a half cup of lemon juice in water because that will help keep the sugar from crystalizing in the kidney. The crystalized sugar is actually what causes kidney stones. I pray that all goes well with everything.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I’ve not had kidney stones but did have gallstones and get regular kidney infections so know how awful you can feel with pain in these areas. I hope Katie’s procedure went well, that the urologist managed to get the stones and that Katie is now on the road to recovery. Sending much love to you all xxx

I’m going through the same thing right now. I had a kidney transplant back in February and back in October they found a stone being blocked by scar tissue. I hope and pray that you guys are fully healed by this. I’m just surprised that they hadn’t put you on any special diet to prevent anymore stones.

I feel you. I've had over 50 stents. I am a stone producer. I had my first stone at 24 and at almost 50, I've lost count. This is the most pain I have ever been in. Stents suck, but I'm so thankful that I have that option. I only have 1 kidney, so I know. Prayers for your recovery
