This is honestly the best day in life of surgeon i saw where there clips of actual hospital setup not just them talking talking and talking and telling their day ij life while sitting at home
This glimpse into the day of a general surgery resident is eye-opening! It's incredible to see the dedication and hard work that goes into this profession. Major respect to all residents for their commitment to saving lives and improving patient care.
it's amazing to see many doctors here in youtube, start their day early in the morning.. i mean.. some of you wake up at 4 am, 5 am and start the day in hospital at 6am.. wow.. i just woke up that time..
Honestly hats off to you for being a 3rd year surgical resident and while simultaneously being a mom of a 3 year old....One day your daughter will be so proud of u and going through the hell of surgical residency will be worth it..Bless U🙏
@@smellypatel5272 Well if you are a woman then it is hundred times more difficult to have a kid just when you are about to start a surgical residency as compared to a man. My fiancee is a neuropathology fellow and before we met when she was just starting her anatomic pathology residency she got pregnant and decided to abort the child...But her decision to abort the child also ended her then relationship.
HI Doctor I just joined the General surgery department and I do love your video one day I just want to be like you showing the day in life as a general surgeon ❤
Daisy! You are so inspiring! I have recently graduated, and I am planning on applying to medical school. I am not sure wether I will be looking into surgery, but I would love to see a RUclips video in where you go over your journey. I am so glad that there are women like you out there who embrace their femininity regardless of how hard this can be in the professional world. Thank you!
Definitely, I've been meaning to make a video breaking down my journey! I've been a little busy with residency and life but I'm hoping to get one up in the next few months! Best of luck to you in applying to medical school!
I would like to express my gratitude to all the medical staff who always have to practice medicine that is not allowed to fail under such pressure and how important the responsibility and mission of a doctor's job are. Among them, I would like to express my sincere respect to the surgeons.
Was one of your first 5k followers on TikTok and 100 followers here. Been so awesome to watch your journey at work and with your family. Keep it all up!
You literally make my day. My goal in life was supposed to be a surgical tech and/or scrub nurse. But unfortunate medical circumstances prevented that. I literally admire you and all you do. My heart will always be in the medical field and your tiktoks/youtubes always give me light.
That’s why there are so many specialties out there :) I love the intricacies of surgery and just working with my hands but I need sleep, caffeine gives me anxiety and the lifestyle in general isn’t for me. This woman is amazing! 🙌🏻❤️
I wonder how she lives. How did she manage pregnancy and birth while doing residency? Does she have a relationship with her partner and child? Does she have any free time at all?
She is hot and knows it....reminds me of my pain doc .....im 65.....she was 46 and looked 25 and more like a model than one of the highest paid doctors in the hospital....not everybody can be a doc ....i could not....i dont work well with people.....i was a programmer and then server sales for IBM.....beside your life is 25 percent or more over before you start....I went to ASU with a math degree and minor in computer science in 79.....then i got a MBA from U of T in S.A. in 87.....good luck to all you future docs!....you earned it
Thanks for this video, becoming a general surgeon has been my dream, and am 16 now and am gonna work harder towards my aim. This video have really inspired me and I know I can achieve my aim by the grace of the almighty Allah🤲
You're amazing Dr.Sanchez, its women like you I look up to! I'm in my first year of Biomedicine and hoping to get into medicine in a few years and one day become a surgeon like you. Thank you for saving so many lives everyday, may God bless you and all other Doctors.
I always wanted to be a surgeon, the kind that makes any patient smile and can heal almost anything Your video was a big motivator😢 I'll do my best from now on to be that doctor To be a superhero Thank you ❤❤❤
Good to see your facility too ...but my question Is this Ur duty day or the routine activity ? ...like u were in to hospital @ 5 am and then getting out at 9:30 pm ...isn't that too long for daily working activity ?
Honest question, I am a 4th year med student in Germany. The attendings would go rlly mad and deny you to assist in the surgeryif somebody came in with nails not cut short. Is that different in the States, cause I saw your nails aren’t that’s short and kinda edgy. Best regards - great video
You’re days are long but you still look great and don’t seem tired but I’m sure you crash as soon as you get home. I’ve had surgery only twice in my life but the hospital staff always are so nice and helpful and treat all the patients with care and explain what they’ll be doing in surgery. I love that when I’m in the waiting area before surgery, they talk to me, we joke and they made me feel at ease, plus just praying helps me feel calm. When I had to go in for a lumpectomy five years ago for stage 1 breast cancer, my first surgery ever (I was 52 at the time), I had to get on that really narrow surgery bed (I really thought I would fall off during surgery! Lol.. but I was just fine before surgery but as soon as wheeled into the surgery room on the gurney bed.. I wanted to cry, I was scared. After I had to get on the surgery bed, one of the nurses who helps in the surgery room, I told her I was scared. She held my hands and prayed for me.. after that I don’t remember anything and it seem to happen so fast. I was an outpatient so my mom and my husband waited for me in the waiting room and my husband took good care of my mom and they took me home by 7p.m. I was fine and groggy and my mom cooked dinner for us.. Her version of Goulash, the Mexican way! Lol.. it’s like spaghetti but with elbow macaroni with a little salsa added, not too spicy after my surgery, great comfort food. To my surprise, I wasn’t in any pain and didn’t need pain meds! I just took Tylenol when I needed to. But no pain and I had some kind of skin glue instead of stitches. I so appreciate all the people working in the medical field and all the long hours they put in. 💖😁
That's amazing to hear! I am so glad that you had a good experience and thank you so much for sharing a little bit of your story with me! I think we - as health care providers have to remember that even though we do this every day for each patient this may be the only time you ever have surgery. & it's ok to feel scared! It's our job to provide you with all the information going into surgery so that you are at ease! Again - thank you so much for sharing and I'm so glad you had a good experience. I hope you are and continue to do well! :)
I could never be a doctor or surgeon. One, I definitley don't have the brains and number two, I need 8 plus hours of sleep. I have so much respect for doctors and people in the medical field. Everyone does. There is no profession that gets the respect and admiration of being a doctor.
hello! i am 13 years old and i want to be a general surgeon, cardio thoracic surgeon, or a cardiopulmonary surgeon! and i was just wondering if you mostly do robotic surgery’s? and if you so robotic surgery’s by yourself or if you have an attending present while you do them?
I wanted to enter medical school so that I could become a surgeon in the specialty that I loved, but my average and income in my country only allow me to enter dentistry and surgery. 💔
Hey doc idk if you're comfortable discussing this, but I figured I'd ask since I'm an M1 who's interested in GS. I've heard that the reality of the lifestyle when you're an attending can be brutal and often times you're relegated to a handful of procedures while the rest get handed off to specialists. I'm also concerned about compensation which doesn't seem to be the greatest relative to the time you're spending in the hospital. Can you comment on any of that? Thanks

Yes. Expect to work 80 hour weeks in a general surgery residency. They work us like dogs in the US during residency.

is every day like this in 3rd year residency? and 1st?
When do you usually go to sleep?
How to you get to film that surgery?
