    I've been using a 14" Homelite for years but it finally reached the point of replacement. Just bought a 20" Stihl MS271 Farm Boss. Once I figured out how to avoid flooding the engine, its been working like a dream.

    I was saying exactly to the comment agree with you 100 percent time is money it’s always cheaper to buy a professional saw. Plus if you use it all day it will have a lots less wear and tear on the body

    These new saws are tuned a way to lean for the epa. Im not sure if their carbs are adjustable,but if you buy one consider thning it to be a little richer on the top end.

      The Fed is worried the nation will add to global warming when they start cutting down trees in earnest to stay warm for the winters.
      I guess with peoples bank accounts getting drained you need wood to survive to put in the stove.

    Just found out the MS170 being discontinued so I picked up 2 more. When I wear them out and my extras, I will go to my MS260 back up. At 56 years old and about 7 cord burning a year, I should be covered and not have to buy theses new ones in line up.

      My old Stihl 021 are specs that I am looking for.
      Wish I had bought another 021 back in 1993.

    A few things stihl could do to “enhance” the homeowner line and make it somewhat better is to make the bar nuts, or in this case, bar nut captured. Oh and a tooless access top cover. Not sure how husqvarna has managed it, but you’d think stihl could do some kind of tooless top cover. Maybe husqvarna only has clips on the air filter cover

    My first saw was a 041 farm boss. No AV or chain breaks. In the late 70s I started working in the woods mainly firewood. Soon I was logging and did it for over 30 years. Owned and rebuilt and broke more saws than I can count. Now this is just my opinion but trust me when it comes to saws I've been there done that. In my day we had 3 main brands of saws all loggers used. Jonsereds, Husqvarna and Stihls. If your saw was anything else it was out dated junk. If it takes more than 3 or 4 pulls to start it's junk. The gas and oil on those rubber mounts was never good but unavoidable filling your saw. Stihl took for ever to go to the springs on the mounts. Why? At least the reds had a strap limiting the motion so you didn't rip the rubbers out when pinched.I had a 920 and a 930 back in the day. The reds had a pull cord prob and some would vapor lock. I owned a 370 and 372 xp husky both boat ankers. I think husky merged or bought out Jonsered. There both sweden saws and the Stihl is germany. I've had the little 028, 038 super, 044 and the old 056 and a pair of the 064 magnum 2's. I do not like the spongy pull cords on these newer saws. I do luv that quick adjuster on these smaller Stihls for the bar. Bottom line is if you go with a husky or a stihl provided it wasn't made on a monday you should be good to go. I always run a Oregon Bar and Chain with Oregon files to keep it sharp.I hand sharpen because thats the way I learned. I cut a 4 inch piece of limb to stick on my file for a handle. Always use Stihl or Husky mix and give your gas jug a shake or 2 before fill up. Husqvarna has the best boots for winter months.But always good boots hard hat and chaps. Be safe. Stay away from retail stores for saw purchases.

    GUYS!!! If u are looking to buy some chainsaw with enough power and some medium size bar , buy the MS 231 or 231 C-BE! but those on the video are great too. I like the way they design them and the way there looking. But like I said earlier it isn't for me. But I agree with everything this guy said on the video.

    ive had one of these 212s for a couple months and its solid. i actually don't have any complaints, ive been really impressed with the saw. But im also not cutting down giant trees just clearing out trails for my dirtbike. (probably cutting trees 2 feet in diameter for the most part)

  • @philrichter3161
    @philrichter3161 8 месяцев назад +3

    If you are just tree trimming in the yard or aren't felling trees over 2 feet, save yourself some money on a Craftsmen on the cheap end or Husky/Echo if you want a little more capabilities. Stihl isn't the elite like it once was. Especially with their pricing.

      What do you mean priced themselves out of the market? Stihl handled inflation very well and didn’t raise price at all on slot of products and only a slight increase in some over the last 4 years

      Id rather buy a second hand stihl.. fix it up a bit.. and u will have a saw for life.. instead of a holzcrappa that wont start in 2 years and every part breaks. My old 036 is from 1999.. stil going strong. U wont see any chinese clones reach that age.
