    In those discouraging days
    I always missed the mark
When we were comfort and close
    I would neglect to keep
    Oh, you safe and unexposed
    A portrait of time repeats
    This moment now replaced
With an empty wish to give
    I give, I gave
    I gave my everything
    For all the wrong things
In this cold reality I made
    This selfish war machine
    Oh, this has become hell
How can I share this life
    With someone else?
    I promise you
There is no weight that can bury us
Beneath the ghosts of all my guilt
Here in the dark side of me
Here in the dark side of me
Now in your absence I wade
    Through the coursing, lonely, lost
    And in this tragic dismay
I never could believe what I became
    I gave my everything
    For all the wrong things
In this cold reality I made
    This welcomed war machine
    Oh, this has become hell
How can I share this life
    With someone else?
    I promise you
There is no weight that can bury us
Beneath the ghosts of all my guilt
Here in the dark side of me
Here in the dark side of me
Here in the dark side of me
Here in the dark side of me
    Oh, I couldn't give you
    What you needed
    It's all my fault
Too coward to believe I lost it all
    I gave my everything
    For all the wrong things
In this cold reality I made
    This selfish war machine
    Oh, this has become hell
How can I share this life
    With someone else?
    I promise you

Beneath the ghosts of all my guilt

What an amazing song. To go from such darkness in Sirius's life/story to the interlude where he is willing to sacrifice himself all for a love lost. Hearing the word "yes" after such a dramatic pause where the A.I. tells him his actions are irrational is so unbelievably satisfying. Love can transcend even death. You just have to be willing to dive in to the unknown.

I’ve been with this band since their inception. I was lured in with his beautiful voice plus he referenced New Jersey a LOT and I’m a jersey girl. They blow my mind. And it absolutely hits differently now that I’m getting closer to 40. I miss the days of going to see them live no matter what it took. Considered my top fav band. The story is just so amazing. Plus that hair…it’s EVERYTHING. love Claudio soooo much.
My recommendation: listen to allll of their albums in order to get the full effect of the story line. If u don’t know, it’s based off his comic book that Claudio created himself, the armory wars. Love you guys thanks for being in my life at the best years of my life and hopefully forever. At least I know your music will😍😍

Seriously, each of their albums bring me back to when I was much younger, yet still all resonate to me as someone getting closer to 40. Which I don't think I can say about any other band I got into in the late 90's/early 00's. And they're coming 15 minutes away from my house at the very end of this month so I can finally see them live...which makes me unbelievably happy.

I’ve grown into a big Coheed fan over the past 15 years or so especially recently. Heard this song for first time just yesterday and have probably listened to it 50 times or more and learned it on guitar immediately. Usually takes time for songs to impact me but the feel of this one is just amazing. I’m 46 years old this weekend and it is so nice to still be surprised pleasantly by these little gems in life. Someone else in the comments here stated this songs impact perfectly by saying it made them feel both grief and comfort simultaneously. That is so spot on. I’m going back through every Coheed album now and really enjoying what Claudio and the boys have put together. Extremely strong songwriting and I cannot wait to delve into the Amory Wars mythology soon. What a great song what a great band.

i found these guys years ago when I was younger watching a zoid video where they put that one song "man your battle stations" (sorry im new to these guys and cant remember the name of the song even though ive listened to it for days straight) and only recently decided to look them up. And im so happy I did. Typical kid that only listens to rap typical rap and deep rap nowadays but gotta say this is an amazing switch to me. I enjoy this so much!

This song reminds me of a relationship I basically fucked up, so... I love it, but it always brings that memory. Great song.

    One of my favorite things to do is listen to the album over and over when it comes out then read the comic/novel associated with said album and then crawl into a deep hole of depression and sadness with the added emotions brought out in the music. Afterman and YOtBR books+album got me good. All of Descension makes me cry. Why must Claudio be obsessed with the tragic romance ;-;
