    Have to admit, an optional stylus and a desktop mode is the kind of stuff I like to see. If it had a quad dac and a dual screen case, it would be the closest thing we have to a proper V60 replacement.

    I'm watching this on my Motorola G100 in Ready For mode (hooked to my monitor via USB-C hub). Between what Ready for can do, and the option of paying for Shadow PC for those times I actually need Windows (which isn't often, even for gaming), I've reached the point where I won't be replacing my current laptop with another laptop or desktop. My phone with Ready For is literally all I need. I'm getting a NexDock in two months and I can't wait to realize my childhood science fiction dreams.

    I bought this phone two days ago and so far it's rather good. Screen is good, not super bright like S22 lineup but not a problem either. The phone is crazy fast. I keep on getting surprised by how fast it does things. Only issue is sometimes the screen doesn't register taps. Not sure why. Oh yeah, the included charging brick is plenty good. It's 39 watts and does a really good job. However, the cable is comically short. Fortunately, I already had a much longer one available.

      It seems no reviewer ever talks about the daily use of the phone... the typing, the tapping, shifting between pages.
      Every phone I got rid of within a month or two was because of the KEYBOARD!!! The way it types.
      Does this phone have a dedicated number row? I absolutely DETEST pressing shift to get to numbers.
      How accurate is autocorrect. I have a phone that changes correctly spelled word to non words... and it does it EVERY TIME.
      Like... "me" will be "MD" every time. even tried to remove from dictionary.
      1st will always be Qst
      There are another dozen like this.
      So how accurate are the letters.
      My current phone there are 2 letters that NEVER come up when I tap them... cuz the tap is slightly off center.
      It baffles me me no one ever talks about the typing... which is the thing we do majority of the time.

      I love the phone, but the first time I dropped it it fell out of the folio, cracked the screen, and one of the corners of the folio broke off, leading me to use a rubberband just to keep my phone from slipping out. Got the phone and stylus case in November and currently at the point where all 4 corners of the folio are chipped, 2 of which chipped OFF, and my poor screen is so cracked now I need to claim a replacement. Fortunately I did opt in to the replacement plan. 😅

    I'm a bit ashamed that I didn't watch this earlier. Motorola has really stepped their game up. I feel like this phone and the Xperia 1 IV are like the closest we have to a 2022 version of the V60 but split off into two companies. Ready For looks really interesting, especially since you said it rivals and exceeds DeX, despite being so new.
    The regular Edge 2022 that just came out is making its way into carriers, so hopefully next year, more Moto phones will make their way into carriers.

    Ok. After having the Folio for w few weeks now... I have a great tip. When you want to charge wirelessly, take the stylus out and place it on the right side of the Folio cover. It will magnetically hold the stylus while the phone wirelessly charges. This way, you never lose or forget your stylus! Simply put the stylus back in the holder when it's done charging!

      We're probably in line for two, and I just don't know that I care that much anymore. I kinda dont want A13 now because it gets even MORE restrictive with storage. It should be a nice patch for how awful the jump was to A12, but I'd rather know that for the 2-3 years I have a phone, it's well optimized and performance improves. If new Android features come through Play system updates, the OS number is a LOT less important to me.

      It depends on how you shoot really. The tough part is ignoring your familiarity with other phones. A moto won't shoot like what you currently use, and it won't have as processed a look like Samsung or Apple. I kinda prefer the processing over the S22. I don't mind grain in my shots, and like that better than the oil painting effect on the iphone. I think it delivers better white balance too.
      It's probably not the best "full auto pilot, just push the shutter, can't be bothered to learn about it or look at settings" camera.

    I need a replacement for my Note 8, and while I could afford a new s22 ultra, it's hard for me to justify that much money for. My only hesitation with the moto is the stylus. The performance looks impressive, but I dont know about the stylus mounting solution. Since it appears that the pen can charge over a wireless charger, I would have opted for a side mounted stylus case and bundled a wireless charger, that way your customer is encouraged to use a wireless charger (spend more money) but making the stylus integration seamless, with using the phone pass through chargine as a backup. Either way, at the current sale ($600 w/o the stylus) it's pretty tempting. Shame there is no head phone jack though

    I really dont believe i made a bad decision! Honestly in this year 2023 i was actually interested in getting the iphone 12 since it is really at a low price right now. I've had a iPhone once but it never was my thing! I got this phone cheaper and i think it's more than i bargained for! I would of gotten the iphone only because i felt pressured! iPhone is the big deal nowadays just about everyone has one including the kids!!! 😂 But i think i made the best choice for me and i have a pretty decent phone for what it is! I really wanted to like this phone but there is an annoying absence which is double tap to wake. Since it has the fingerprint scanner on the side there is no way to check your notifications on the lockscreen without unlocking your phone when you tap the power button. The only thing you can do is to activate Moto’s implementation of AOD which only show time/date and notification app icons with a black background which are nowhere near a full working lockscreen. So with this phone you just forget that you have a lockscreen actually which is a big Android 12 feature.

    I'm hesitant to buy a Motorola phone because I had the G Power from 2020 and it had some deal breaker issues. The biggest was horrible call quality where I couldn't hear the person I was talking to & they couldn't hear me. The processor in that phone was the snapdragon 665 and it started out ok but didn't hold up over time. Motorola is not good on updates either and most android users will likely buy Samsung or Pixels. Motorola phones look good but I question functionality and longevity. This phone looks amazing but my skepticism outweighs my hope for the brand.

    • @vvvios
      @vvvios 2 года назад +2

      Absolutely this, there seems to always be a significant catch or downgrade to every single phone they release, which is how they're able to offer them for such a steep discount (since they're overpriced so much on launch.) For example the Moto G Stylus 2021 had a horribly dim screen that was an absolute dealbreaker for me, since even at max brightness I could barely see it outside, even in the shade.

    • @DWtechfan
      @DWtechfan 2 года назад +1

      @@vvvios exactly, Motorola wants to be a big brand in Android phones but they take far too many shortcuts. There's always some trade offs and for the price they charge, their phones should be more reliable and longer lasting on updates. If Motorola really wants to be competitive with Samsung or Pixel, then they're gonna have to make better phones. If they can't do that, then any regular smartphone user will not buy their devices.

Meaning I can fire up Geforce Now, and play PC games with my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, on a "big screen" floating in front of my eyes. It just enables a lot of stuff that doesn't feel like just a phone. I also have access to a remote desktop, so I can use an actual Windows PC remotely if need be. And it works superbly for me in the day to day in general. Battery life for me is a non-issue, it lasts a couple of days easily with moderate use, some e-book reading, etc plus calls during the work day. Great phone. I hope Motorola can keep this trend up.

      @@SomeGadgetGuy Thank you! "Seriously," of course, is a relative term. My wife, Kathleen, has been recording her RUclips channel on a Moto Edge 2021 for the last year, and believe it or not, still prefers her ancient LG V20 (her only of the V-series) for audio recording to any other phone she's had since.
      As she's become more prolific, discriminating, and "serious" about her channel output, I've been looking at upgrades, especially since she submerged her Edge a few weeks ago. Yup, it's not IP68 rated. Not even close. She's been making do in the meantime with my Razr 5G, but let's just say she's not as gushy over the Razr 5G as I am.
      So I surveyed the recent Sony Xperias 5 IV and 1 IV (I'm sticking to the North American market here). Looks like fun --- even for the price --- but might be technically a bridge too far for her right now, and I'm concerned that her longer videos, some of them >30min, would trigger overheating issues at 4K.
      I also was excited about the Pixel 7 Pro. That's a big philosophical shift for me, coming myself from Moto, and then LG before that, but I am a Google-centric being, and my current Pixel 6a indicates that Google is finally pulling it all together, so I have hope.
      So, when I was ready to pull the trigger that first week of October, netting a 7 Pro 512GB was like netting a unicorn. I bided my time, but I had no legit trade-in, either, and last week, the Edge+ '22 just kept staring me down at $699 at Best Buy. I got it, and then the day after, it dropped to $599! BB gave me the credit.
      Sometimes, even when one knows better, it's hard to shake the conventional wisdom, so I questioned the cameras. But then, I thought, although every system has its strengths and weaknesses, and beginning with the original Z Force I owned, I've always been pleasantly surprised with upper-tier Moto camera setups. The night mode on the Razr 5G, for instance, delivered some great shots for me. And what other phone has four microphones for video recording? The results were palpable and had no competition (that I could find).
      And, although my wife and I don't care much for wireless charging, and she doesn't care about telephoto, I was a little miffed about 2015 Gorilla glass on a $1000 2022 flagship phone. But $599.00 for all those goodies and that one small concession? Deal. Or should I say, "steal?"
      Anyway, I could still take it back if needed, but my positive history with Motorola, the balance of your reviews confirming my bias (ha!), and your nice personal response to me have given me some peace that, for now, I've made the right choice for my wife. I just ordered the folio/stylus bundle, and I'll probably snag that 68W charger in a week or two. All in all, I think the Motorola Edge+ 2022 will meet her creative needs for a while. Happy wife, happy life.
      As a (nominal) 56-year-old patron, I don't hang with baited breath on all of your output. Life is busy, and I'm not a gamer.
      But, modest though it is, my patronage is enthusiastic precisely because when we do cross paths, your nearly singular perspective in the mobile tech review space is refreshing and incisive. What you bring to the table, Juan, is worth compensation and support, and I can't say that about much in this TikTok era.
