PNWreckage did a little. I am curious how well they light the bed cause my 1500 just got nearly totalled by a semi and I am looking at possible truck replacements.
+Brian Jensen damn man sorry to hear it. It lights the bed up spectacularly, especially when it's paired with the in-bed LED lighting. I use the 3rd brakelight when a guy was riding my ass with his light bar on and he turned it off lol.
you probably dont care but does anybody know a way to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Marvin Rodney thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
For me it's a must-have. In the whole scheme of things it's just stupid to buy a 40 50 60 $70,000 truck and not have this option. And for those people that hook up to fifth wheels and Gooseneck trailers just two or three times a year of using this camera for that reason is enough to pay the money.
I bought a 2017 2500 Laramie in February. I wanted the bed camera because I have a goosneck horse trailer. I can back up exactly over the ball using the camera. No more craning my neck to try to see if I am in the right place. Its great for that. I wouldn't trade it for any cost.
One other benefit of the cargo camera is being able to see your hitching up to like a 5th wheel/gooseneck trailer. I wish I had this option when I purchased my truck. lol
+Troy Noall Thanks for the input man. I read stories from several people who described it as "useless" for that, but you're not the only one who's pointed it out so I wish I had included that in the video! Next time? lol
Love the videos man, and wish I purchased that option when I got my '17..But.. You had me cringe when I saw you go through that car wash. Those things scratch the hell out of your paint. I know it's a lot of work, but a proper hand wash with the proper materials and techniques will keep your machine looking better for longer. In a pinch I will do a touchless, but you indicated that isn't on option.
+Gmtail I hear you on the paint scratching but I haven't seen it be an issue with the local guys. I do wish there were a touchless place anywhere near me. Trying to pick my poison between potential scratches and potential road grime damage I guess. Summer really needs to get here fast so hand washes can be more frequent.
+f Choez Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad this has been helpful for you. Honestly, if you haven't done it yet you might think about sitting in the back of a crew cab. I am amazed with the room. Even my 6'4" father in-law has enough room.
I drove a new ram to Las Vegas hauling horses and that camera feature was one of my favorite features. I liked how you could check the trailer connection and chains while driving. Ford has a 360 camera now but I don't think you can use it going down the highway. I think it's worth every penny, especially if you're hooking up a gooseneck by yourself.
+Infiltrator2003 it's a clever rouse to talk to dbags, apparently. You watch RUclips videos for volume consistency and baritone narration? Sorry about all that frustration, sugartits.
I did not opt for the "Center High-Mount Stop Lamp w/ Cargo View Camera" option when I ordered my truck because I don't need another camera. I did however install an aftermarket LED high mount brake light with LED bed lighting which I like very much. I also installed LED's in the bed which are activated by auxiliary switch 5. RAM did not offer the LED bed lighting in 2015.
I think so. I did think about getting the camera but my concern was that the back up camera would then appear in my rear view mirror and the cargo camera on the 8.4" screen. Isn't that how it is?
Great videos !!! A lot of good info I didn't know . It's About time somebody does one of these videos . I was wondering does it cost more to custom build ur truck rather then getting one already done from the lot? You might have already covered this question but I haven't seen it yet if so . But I'm still watching some of ur videos . I'm definitely thinking of custom building my own they way I like with the stuff I want in it
+Dad of four thanks man! My thoughts exactly on the lack of these videos. Apparently, I could have gotten an additional $500 off if I'd bought one already sitting on the lot. Since none of them were perfect for what I wanted, it would have been a compromise anyway. I absolutely loved the custom order process and cannot recommend it enough.
Christian....love your videos! You may have already talked about this, but interested in knowing more about the 5th wheel prep in the bed. Keep up the good work. And let the sarcasm shine! Love it!!!!!!
+Orren G Thanks man! Sarcasm is my favorite but people get PISSED apparently! Have you checked out this one? ruclips.net/video/Kyo8IdX11gk/видео.html I talked about it at the end a little but let me know if you want more detail
Hey Christian, my new 2017 RAM 3500 Limited Mega Cab with Ram boxes did not come with the cargo bed camera, and I can only suspect it is because I could not get the 5th wheel prep package with the Ram boxes. I will miss that feature when installing an aftermarket 5th wheel package (Reese Sidewinder). I would suspect the cargo bed camera is part of the 5th wheel prep package. I chose the Ram boxes as a "must have" as I am getting older at 57, and don't care to be climbing into the bed of my truck so much anymore. Ram boxes can be fitted with rifle racks, they can hold golf clubs, and also can be used as huge ice chests, with drain plugs. I currently use mine for holding jumper cables, tie downs, etc. Maybe I am wrong. Regardless, another great video. Thanks - Phil
+Phil Salsbery hey Phil, congrats on your new truck! I actually did a video on the RamBox package and can confirm with 100% certainty the "center high mount stop lamp with cargo view camera" is a separate option from the 5th wheel prep. I almost went with the boxes.
Great vid! Recently bought a 19 Laramie 2500 that does not have the camera cargo light as sold on the limiteds. Do you know if the camera would work if I were to swap the lights out???? I have the basic 3rd brake light which is kind of an eye sore😞
My want is a tailgate camera that has a tiny light that illuminates the trailer hitch ball at night. Hooking up to the boat at night everything is lit up when in reverse BUT the trailer ball itself.
My truck has the backup camera in the mirror and the cargo camera on the screen can i do a update or is there a way to make the backup camera be on the screen,?
+Oscar Santiago Good question man. I know the UConnect on the 2016 is capable of it, but I don't know if it has to be programmed from the factory to have the toggle button. Wish I could help on that one.
Oscar Santiago I have a 2014 1500 Laramie. Someone sells a cable and software hack to support up to 3 cameras. Wish my 2014 had multi camera options and bed lighting. I wonder if the new third brake light is out and play on the older RAM.
Hey Christian, How does the backup camera work for hooking up a standard Trailer? Can you get a good look at the two relative to each other? I know it's not the cargo camera question but didn't know where to post this question. Thanks
I like the cam. Mine didn't come with it, and it would be helpful for fifth wheel hook up. Do you know if it's a straight plug n play? I got a 2018 rig like yours. Thanks
Hey Guy, my fault on not following through with that. I'm out of the loop but your local dealer can give you a part number by phone that you can search on Google for the best deal
Its a really nice color, I used to have a 2015 1500, as soon as I saw the red I had to have it. The only part that annoys me is that it seems like there is a new scratch everytime I look at it lol
Did u buy the truck with these options already installed or did u buy it after and install them yourself? And is it plug and play or did u install them and have to take it to the dealership so they can add the option to the Uconnect.
So I did not get that option but I’m wanting to add it on I found the part number I have 2019 ram3500 I’m wondering how they hook it up I have the 12 display and the only camera I have it the back up one 🤔
I found them online for $200 that work on the same circuit as the tailgate camera. You just install a tiny toggle switch to swap image between the two cameras so you DON'T have to get the uconnect system programmed to allow the brake light camera.
Curious to know if I can purchase the OEM camera and have the dealer add it I will be switched to the ra3 or ra4 sometime but really would like to have the cargo camera. They are replacing the headliner already and I have read someone saying the camera wiring harness has to be in the headliner and I'm curious if that would be different on our 17s
@@sdiss88 wish I remembered but I think $250 plus. The dealer would not move the backup camera from the mirror to the center display. There is RUclips videos on how to do it and what wiring is needed. I’m not going to do it because it requires splitting 1 wire. The cargo camera plugged into center direct. Never understood why Ram didn’t just have backup camera to center screen as it is all setup to. The mirror one sucks and is to small.
@@paulwhitesell5847 thanks. I added the 8.4 mopar screen from infotainment never had any camera on the truck until then. I'll call the dealer tomorrow and see what they charge. Thanks for the response
+Lokyr00 When i had my first truck I mistakenly bought one with an open differential. I talked to a couple dealerships about it and one said I could not add the limited slip diff period. The other said it could be added AND covered under the factory warranty. With the cargo camera I think it would come down to whether or not a truck without it from the factory had the capability of displaying it on the UConnect once it's installed. I would call around if you hear no at first.
Does anyone have the part number for this style, im only finding the regular version.
Thanks
Can we get part number for it or link
can you do a night vid so i can see how bright it lights the bed

Does anyone have the part number? And does anyone know if it is plug and play. I have a 2018 Laramie 2500
Look up infotainment online and they have options for the third brake
Light camera
Once you start hitching up to that gooseneck a few times, you'll change your mind on how "gimmickey" that camera is. Love the truck, man, keep it up!
