In this video, I am going to give you a drive tour and a sneak peak of Hopkins in Belize; a place that you can wine down, a place that you can have a good holiday and a place that if you want to settle, I can bet on.
By popular request from a wonderful viewer, I've decided to do a drive through tour of Hopkins, the most friendly village in the south east of Belize. I will show you the beautiful beaches and resorts.

Great video Mickey, thankyou. My husband fell in love with Belize having seen it on a travel show so we visited Belize a few years ago, we stayed in San Pedro, I have to say I totally fell in love with the place, the people, the culture, everything about it.
I have never been to Hopkins Village but my husband has convinced me if I liked San Pedro I will love Hopkins, and this video has given me a little insight into Hopkins Village, so thankyou. We will be moving to Belize soon and I cant wait.
Thanks very much Ann-Mell. I'm happy the video was helpful. The difference of Hopkins village compared to San Pedro is the number of tourists visit. Not a lot of tourists visit Hopkins so it's calmer and laidback. The African in me draws me more to Hopkins because of the preservation of the Garifuna culture in Hopkins. November 19th is the Garifuna settlement day celebration both in Hopkins and Dangriga (about 45min away). It is smaller but Staying in Hopkins also means you get easy access to jungle and Mayan adventures; and to Placencia which is also lush. I hope your move goes smoothly. Hopkins is more than Resorts ( in hope to get sponsored by them) and driving down the main Street.
Where are the people, the Garífuna, their drumming skills and Punta dance ? Where is the food ? Fufu etc. Come to Hopkins and support the locals.
Hotels, beach and a main road you can find anywhere in this world.

However, I paid for my own trip (I am a full time British Soldier and don't need sponsorships from Belizean resorts to survive). I decided to make videos about Belize because the only thing the British public knew about Belize was gangs (from a documentary made by a British journalist called Ross Kemp). I tried my best to get the best of Hopkins from the little resources and contact I had at the time of my short visit. I am proud to say I know few people who visited Hopkins and patronized the GariMaya gift shop after watching this video. But thank you for your feedback.

When showing a village why concentrate on a resort
A very good question. The resort was just a fraction of the video. I thought the drone and POV (drive through) videos highlighted more of the village and settlements. I maybe wrong.
Hopkins is more beautiful than the video.
