i do currently own ROG Ally Z1 Xtreme version and i use it as main pc since my laptop broke last month, ever since then i want to upgrade to ROG Ally X because i noticed the lack of RAM capacity makes few games dip below 30fps on 4K monitor.
Most are on the Upgrade column for me ... but it cannot overcome the most important factor: $$$ 😅 Even if I sell my current Ally, I'd still need to shell out about $3-400 CAD to cover the difference.
I have a steam deck and legion go. When I got the go I was loving it so much that I pretty much stopped using the deck. When the summer sale happened I got heavily back into the deck and now realize I'm not too fancy of the Go screen size, weight of the device and comparatively poor battery. I'm back and forth if I want to get the X and grow the collection or try selling the Go.
Even if I felt the Ally X is a very good upgrade…..the issues on battery and sd card can still be circumnavigated without much issues. It is not worth getting rid of my ori Ally for this. What’s more, I will lose a heck ton of money to sell off at this point. But it is more than just sunken cost fallacy issue.
I sold my OG ally plus a couple things to upgrade. All the small upgrades made up to a big enough one for me. Biggest is battery and SD card reader working.
Nice video, please let me know your experience on the right stick, looks like it is very near to the screen and you may touch your screen accidentally and interfere on you gameplay. For me battery is not an issue to me, I always bring my power bank with 100w dedicated port that will give my ally in 30w TDP. The only advantage increase in RAM. I choose to get an XG mobile 3080 16gb, with this upgrade my ally is better than X. :)
@@PeteTalksTech I mean the ally X. The distance of the right stick is too close to the screen. If you slip your thumb on intense game you may touch the screen
Happy with my Oled Steam Deck, I will upgrade when something better comes along but it's a hard pass for the Ally X I'm afraid, I will not give Asus another penny.
I am not interested to upgrade because I have Rog ally extreme with xg mobile 3080 and if those stop working I will go different company that respects their existing customers instead of leaving us behind with changes like usd c instead of the xg mobile port ... What am I supposed to do with my xg mobile .... I am very upset with companies that looking only on profits and do not respect customers !! Thanks for the video great like always !

I'm not interested in upgrading to the Ally X. We'll be coughing up $700-$800 every 9 months. I love my Ally, but I'll save my pennies for the next Switch and the Xbox Handheld. I prioritize consistency over the latest greatest.
My question I play alot of FPS games is there a way I could calibrate the the joystick are is it a hardware issue because I plan on buying a Z1 model are maybe buy sum thumb grips will help
Hey Ant, we can calibrate the joysticks to eliminate dead zones within the Armoury Crate app, and I’m sure there are thumb grips we can buy for the Ally too, I’m sure Amazon has a good selection… 👍
