  • More testing for Bottleneck Creek, this week trying out Woodland Scenics deep pour water.
While our creek and out test section for our creek is not at all deep, but we want to test this product even if other products would also work. In the past, we had used epoxy and polyester casting resin and had...well.. bad luck. One reason to try this product. But as it seems to be good, based on reviews, we needed to test it before using it at Bottleneck Creek.
First much of what comes with the kit is poor (pour?) or useless. The gloves are poor, the mixing cups grand IF you can get the measurement decals on correctly. Which is really hard to do. Our plastic bag had a leak, but we had no idea what the bag was meant to do anyway. BUT.. the resin is GREAT. who cares about all that other stuff.
The resin pours smoothly. Not too thick. NO STINK!!!! No smell at all in fact. Mixes well, and looks great. So we are sold. We will be using our own gloves, making sure to get the decal on correctly, or using a different measuring cup and taking care to NOT spill any on the landscaping.
One of the keys to success is preparing the river, pond, or stream bed. As it shows every detail shows. Which is a good thing on a shallow pond or stream like ours. As this stuff HATES water, everything needs to be dry and clean. And that's about it. On to the REAL Bottleneck Creek.
